Disney’s ‘Tarzan the Musical’ coming to the Avalon Theatre

Follow the adventures of jungle boy Tarzan during the stage production of Disney’s “Tarzan the Musical.”

The production will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at Avalon Theatre, 645 Main St., and is presented by Secret Identity Pictures.

“Tarzan the Musical” is based on the Disney movie and follows the story of the infant boy, shipwrecked with his parents off the west coast of Africa in the early 20th century, according the production notes at secretidentitypictures.weebly.com.

After the boy’s parents are killed by a leopard, a nurturing gorilla named Kala finds the boy and takes care of him as her own child. Years later, the adult Tarzan encounters English naturalist, Jane Porter, who is exploring the jungle with her father and a mercenary guide named Clayton.

Secret Identity Pictures is a national video and live production company based in New Castle, “that seeks to provide opportunities for students and adults to practice their art and gain experience in their field here in Colorado,” according to the company’s website.

“From directing and sound editing to acting and script writing, SIP is responsible for generating projects that allow creative artists to apply their skill and gain education and experience in their performance field,” the website says.

Several ticket options are available for Saturday’s performance, including VIP “Fly on Stage” tickets and discounts for seniors, military, fire and police. To purchase tickets and information, go to secretidentitypictures.weebly.com or brownpapertickets.com/event/2518389.
