Chris Morris fastest fifty in this
IPL 17 balls fifty scored 82 off 32 balls vs GL,. He also get man of the match either he is losing side.A good allrounding performane By Chris Morris.
Delhi fall short by one run despite Chris Morris’s 32-ball 82* and eight sixes,
JP Duminy’s 48 and
Imran Tahir’s three-wicket haul. - What an innings from
Morris and Duminy but quite sadly on a losing side.
Gujarat Lions pulled off a sensational win from brink of defeat by 1 run against
Delhi Daredevils in
New Delhi on Wednesday. What a contest this was? The match was oscillating from
Gujarat to Delhi.
Bravo and
Praveen bowled brilliantly in the last two overs. A huge sigh of relief for Gujarat Lions. The team pulled off a sensational victory against Delhi Daredevils.14 required from the last over. Morris is still there. What a match this was to be? Both teams played brilliant cricket. Bravo bowls, Morris strikes the ball and
Faulkner misses a sitter and it is boundary off the first ball.
Oh God!! Morris takes a single. 9 from 4. excellent yorker and only a single. Morris on strike, 8 from three balls.
Excellent over from Bravo, two runs.
Wow!! a rare mistake from Jadeja. 6 from 2. another two runs. four runs from the last ball.
Karthik misses the throw and Morris is safe. When Chris Morris walked into bat, Delhi needed 115 runs from a little more than nine overs. They had already lost four wickets, and the presence of JP Duminy was the only crumb of comfort for the home side. And judging by the manner in which they had batted so far, it gave little hope for Delhi’s fans. However, Morris had other plans.
The man, brought by the
Daredevils for a whopping Rs 7 crore at this year’s auction was about to unleash a well-orchestrated assault, which would almost deflate the sails of IPL’s latest entrant. The Protea would kick start his innings with a humongous six off
James Faulkner. He then followed it up with three maximums in the following two overs — one off
Dwayne Bravo — and two off leg spinner Praveen Tambe. In just three overs since his arrival, Morris had galloped along to 35 off just 13 deliveries, bringing the equation to 57 runs from the final five overs.
With Duminy playing the anchor’s role to nicety, Daredevils were very much in with a chance.
Apart from the Morris-Duminy stand, it was the dew that was troubling the Gujarat bowlers. This meant
Raina could not use his spinners any more, relying on
Smith, Bravo and the experienced
Praveen Kumar to finish the proceedings.
Sensing an opportunity, Morris, smashed three Smith for three consecutive in the 17th over, to bring about his fifty in just 17 deliveries — the fastest in this competition so far. Duminy’s dismissal ended an incredible 87-run fifth wicket stand, which came off just 39 deliveries. A punch off Bravo through mid-off brought down the equation down to 18 runs off just 12 deliveries. The experienced
Kumar kept his cool giving away only four runs in the penultimate over to keep
Lions in the hunt.
When Bravo began the final over, Daredevils required 14 runs. A mighty heave through
point in the first delivery brought the equation down to 10 off 5 deliveries. At this stage, Morris looked like he had scripted the perfect chase for his side. Daredevils required a boundary off the last delivery, but could only muster a double
. In the end, despite missing out on two clear run-out chances, Morris tragically failed to see his side through, falling short by just one run. But his all-round efforts (82 not out off 32 deliveries), backed by his terrific four-over spell, was enough to help him win the Player-of-the-Match award.
