Insightful Jamaican artist Omi (Omar Samuel Pasley) is bringing his breakthrough story to the U.S., with the compelling sheen of “Cheerleader,” leading the way. The smash dance song has notched more than 90 million Spotify streams, topping iTunes in 14 territories, including Germany, Australia, Sweden and others (Top 10 in nearly 30 other markets). Released in 2012, a cleverly understated remix by German DJ/Producer Felix Jaehn helped power the global momentum building around the infectious track.
“Cheerleader” originally took off in Hawaii, but Omi was getting a larger sense of the song’s ‘stickiness’ where ever he performed it live. “People just gravitated to it, always remarking how it was their favorite.” Felix Jaehn’s 2014 remix added to the combustible nature of the track,” but by deftly imbuing acoustic gestures into the mix – conga, piano, trumpet – embellishing its unornamented feel. “I loved the mix even before it took off,” says Omi. “So calm; And unusual for a remix, it made you want to listen to the words, too.”

She can’t be more right. ‘The job of a citizen is to keep his mouth open’, Kashubian-German novelist Günter Grass the Nobel prizewinner once said.
When I asked if anyone is willing to say something about the by-election in Bukit Batok, renowned writer Yeng Pway Ngon (英培安) was first to say yes. Yeng is an author I have enormous respect, and I’ve just found out that he was also the publisher for the seminal play ‘The Coffin is Too Big for The Hole’. After selling off his bookstore of 19 years - ‘Grassroots Book Room’ (草根书室) due to health reasons in 2014, Yeng has since gone back to writing.
I also called up another writer, Lee Hui Min (李慧敏), hoping to meet her up. I came across her articles when she was working for BBC and also read her first book. She swiftly agreed to a video interview the day we first met. Both of them aren’t personal friends of Dr Chee Soon Juan, but now with social media, to know and understand the man is no longer difficult. One can find his many speeches, essays and videos online.

The Chee are a fictional race of androids created by the extinct Pemalites, a race of pacifists from the sci-fi book series Animorphs, written by K. A. Applegate. The word Chee means "Friend" in the Pemalite language.
The Pemalites created the Chee in their own image, using their highly advanced technology to create friends that they could play with. In their natural state, the Chee androids have a humanoid structure bearing the dog-like qualities of their creators. The Chee are completely incapable of violence or assisting with any activity that would lead to someone's harm, even in their own self-defense. Due to having been designed for operation on a planet with higher gravity than Earth, the Chee possesses immense strength, speed and durability, capable of withstanding low-energy Dracon beam attacks and operating in the deep ocean. They have extremely long life spans; Erek King, the first Chee the Animorphs met in The Android, was over 50 millennia old, remarking that he has been alive since Moses wandered the Egyptian desert. Nonetheless, they are masters of espionage, often spying on the Yeerks to alert the Animorphs to their next plans.

Plot: A short-tempered, violent criminal named "White Tiger" is on the run from the police and joins a theater troupe for disguise, killing anyone who angers him or who suspects his identity. One person he unsuccessfully tries to kill several times is a cowardly laundry man named "Mousy" who manages to escape mostly by running and hiding.
