With a population pushing at close to a quarter of a million people (
250,000)
Chula Vista is the second largest city in
San Diego County, the eight biggest waste contract in
Southern California A lot more is to come within the next twenty years, the completion of the MILLENNIUM project, the development of over another
100,
000 homes, the construction of the university (CSUCV or UCCV) and the closing of the Otay Landfill. Chula Vista stands as a well established city in Southern California.
Republic Services has been running in Chula Vista for well over 25 years now, of course under three different names before acknowledging the
Republic name (
Laidlaw, Pacific and Allied). This video showcases some of the many trucks and drivers that drive throughout Chula Vista on a five day basis. The total amount of residential trucks that rotate around Chula Vista per day consists of an average of 28 trucks (commercial give or take about 15), and they are looking at expanding more and buying more trucks in an effort to reduce high concentrated and dense routes.
Not to mention Chula Vista is the only city contract that Republic has on a private city in San Diego County. The rest is
HOA and Unicorp rulings. So I hope to see Republic expanding in years to come.
It was such a delight and enjoyment to be filming these amazing employees for over the course of four years.
I've learned so much, from the history of the contracts, to drivers info, routes, and the analysis of the different trucks. It was such an adventure filming the Chula Vista fleet,
Thank You to all drivers and crew for putting up with me and my crazy antics. This video goes out to you all.
