Jim is a diminutive form of the forename "James". For individuals named Jim, see articles related to the name Jim.
James Christopher "Jim" Gaffigan (born July 7, 1966) is an American stand-up comedian and actor.
Gaffigan was born in Chesterton, Indiana and attended La Lumiere School in La Porte, Indiana. He is the youngest of six children and often jokes about growing up in a large family. He attended one year at Purdue University, where he was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity. He graduated from Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business in 1988. Jim Gaffigan wrestled in High School and stated, while on Joe Rogan's podcast, that he played College Football (division 3).
Gaffigan's comedy routines often include humorous, high-pitched "asides" representing commentary on his performance from a hypothetical naive and easily offended audience member. These were inspired by his sister.[citation needed]
Gaffigan is also known for routines or skits relating to being lazy and eating food, especially popular routines regarding Hot Pockets, cake, and bacon. In 2004 Gaffigan's stand up material was featured in Comedy Central's animated series Shorties Watchin' Shorties. His 2006 album, Beyond the Pale, consisted primarily of material regarding food and American eating habits. The album was accompanied by an hour-long special on Comedy Central of the same name, which was released on his DVD. His 2009 album, King Baby, was also a television special filmed in Austin, Texas at the end of his "The Sexy Tour". Comedy Central released King Baby on DVD. In a March 2009 interview on Anytime with Bob Kushell, Gaffigan defended his naming of the tour, stating that he thought it would be funny that parents would be unsure about whether to bring their teenage children to the show.
Reverend James Warren "Jim" Jones (May 13, 1931 – November 18, 1978) was the founder and leader of the Peoples Temple, which is best known for the November 18, 1978 mass suicide of 909 Temple members in Jonestown, Guyana along with the killings of five other people at a nearby airstrip. Over 200 children were murdered at Jonestown, almost all of whom were forcibly made to ingest cyanide by the elite Temple members.
Jones was born in Indiana and started the Temple in that state in the 1950s. Jones and the Temple later moved to California, and both gained notoriety with the move of the Temple's headquarters to San Francisco in the mid-1970s.
The incident in Guyana ranks among the largest mass suicides in history, though most likely it involved forced suicide and/or murder, and was the single greatest loss of American civilian life in a non-natural disaster until the events of September 11, 2001. Among the dead was Leo Ryan, who remains the only Congressman assassinated in the line of duty as a Congressman in the history of the United States.

when I witnessed an event that really couldn't have been right.
My bacon eggs and biscuits were as tasty as could be,
when much to my surprise they started talking to me.
Well I almost lost my stomach on the kitchen floor,
'cause I'd never eaten something that could talk to me before.
But I said that I was sorry, and they said it was OK
and just to be polite I sat down to hear what they had to say...
REFRAIN: They said, "Son you've got a message from the powers that be,
and as we speak they're making deals for you with MTV,
So write a song about a girlie on your electric guitar,
and leave it to the boys on top to make you into a Rock'n'Roll
star...
I gotta tell ya I was startled when I heard that news,
I got to thinkin' it may be time to start a-cuttin' back on booze,
but my breakfast it kept tellin' me my head was clear,
so just to be quite sure I went and grabbed another beer.
Boy, that beer sure tasted good,
and when I finished, wha'd'ya know,
my bacon eggs and biscuits yelled, "I told you so!"
So I picked up my guitar and wrote a couple of tunes,
wrote most of 'em about this crazy guy named Jim that I knew...
(REFRAIN)
On the advice of my breakfast,
I took my songs into town,
and I spent some time and money tryin' to get that trendy sound...
Somethin' hip and somethin' groovy's just what I was lookin' for,
and when I got the sound I wanted I took my record to the stores.
Well the store clerks, they all told me that my chances were real slim,
that my songs were kinda stupid, and who the hell is Jim?
So I gave 'em each a copy, and I headed on my way,
guess that's just what I get for talkin' to my breakfast anyway...
(REFRAIN)
Well I never got too famous,
and I never was a star..
sorry, Jim old buddy,
who cares where the hell y'are.
I've got the sky, I've got the mountains,
and with a little beer I'm set,
and I eat Bacon, Eggs, and Biscuits
every goddamn chance I get.
