The Suzuki SV650 and variants are street motorcycles manufactured since 1999 for the international market by the Suzuki Motor Corporation, featuring a mid-sized V-twin engine and medium performance components. In 2009, Suzuki replaced the naked SV650 with the SFV650 Gladius.
Suzuki introduced the SV650 in 1999 as a budget entry in the emerging naked bike market and, as of 2008, offered both naked and fully faired. The bike provided a sporty though easily manageable ride. The combination of light weight, rigid chassis, strong handling, and the V-twin's strong mid-range torque appealed to beginner and experienced riders alike. While Suzuki has clearly modeled the first generation of the bike's aesthetics after the Suzuki TL1000S, there is also a clear influence from the Ducati Monster. The TL is still considered the "big brother" of the SV650. The 2003 SV1000 replaced the TL Series (TL1000S and TL1000R) and Suzuki marketed it as a bigger alternative to the second generation SV650.
Suzuki Motor Corporation (Japanese: スズキ株式会社, Hepburn: Suzuki Kabushiki-Kaisha) is a Japanese multinational corporation headquartered in Minami-ku, Hamamatsu, Japan, which specializes in manufacturing automobiles, four-wheel drive vehicles, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), outboard marine engines, wheelchairs and a variety of other small internal combustion engines. In 2011, Suzuki was thought to be the ninth biggest automaker by production worldwide. Suzuki has over 45,000 employees worldwide and has about 35 main production facilities in 23 countries and 133 distributors in 192 countries.
In 1909, Michio Suzuki (1887–1982) founded the Suzuki Loom Works in the small seacoast village of Hamamatsu, Japan. Business boomed as Suzuki built weaving looms for Japan's giant silk industry. In 1929, Michio Suzuki invented a new type of weaving machine, which was exported overseas. The company's first 30 years focused on the development and production of these machines.
Despite the success of his looms, Suzuki believed that his company would benefit from diversification and he began to look at other products. Based on consumer demand, he decided that building a small car would be the most practical new venture. The project began in 1937, and within two years Suzuki had completed several compact prototype cars. These first Suzuki motor vehicles were powered by a then-innovative, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, four-cylinder engine. It had a cast aluminum crankcase and gearbox and generated 13 horsepower (9.7 kW) from a displacement of less than 800cc.

With such a pedigree for versatility, longevity, and general rider-happiness, Spurgeon was amped to get out to California and see what the 2017 edition to this time-tested lineup had to offer. In the Suzuki SV650 First Ride Review, Spurge and the RevZillaTV crew set up shop in the mountains north of Los Angeles for a spirited bit of riding along roadways that were obviously designe...

In 1999 Suzuki introduced the SV650, a bike that went on to be immensely successful among novices, experts, and everyone in between. The key to its success—a charismatic V-twin, ultra-easy handling, and it wasn’t stupid expensive. After a decade or so of success, the SV faded away and Yamaha’s FZ-07 arrived in 2015 to fill the void. Now that the SV is back for 2017, we had to know if it’s good enough to keep up with Yamaha’s new king of the category. Luckily, that’s exactly the kind of question that Ari and Zack like to answer.
Intro Music - Mannaforra - The Sun Has Now Awakened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFMzhOOuC0I Today we're reviewing a 2005 Suzuki SV650. This is a long video with lots of riding and good engine sound. Keep checking the channel for at least one new motorcycle review per month for summer 2017. REVIEW NOTES ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 2005 SV650 V-twin entry level motorcycle First launched as a carbed model in 1999 'ugly' (very very 90s) Updated in 2003 with sharper looks and fuel injection Stayed the same (barring colour changes & small things) and sold strongly right through to replacement ...including failed Gladius replacement Much maligned by many forum heros as a girls bike Basically dominated the mini-twin class when it debuted (still...
Here is a quick review I did of my 2006 SV650 a few months back. Looking back at it I missed a few key points, but should still give you a decent overview of the bike! If you have any additional questions, shoot them down in the comments! I have also made note of some of the information I was wrong on and annotated it into the video :) * The US SV650 was sold in the states until 08-09. Outside of the US it was sold until 2014.

Suzuki has brought back the SV650 name, but has it brought back the magic that made the original a cult classic? In this video, Motorcycle.com Features Editor Troy Siahaan, a former SV650 owner and racer himself, takes the new SV for a spin during the model's U.S. press launch to see if Suzuki hit the mark, or hit a dud. This is the non-ABS version of the 2017 Suzuki SV650, a brand new entry level light weight 650cc V-Twin engined standard bike. It may be no frills but it is a fully modern, very refined little ride for the money. The ABS version comes in red with identical specs otherwise. While it may not compete with the tiny 250-300cc typical entry level bikes, remember that those plummet in value as soon as you sign the papers, where these certainly retain more. If you were considering the Yamaha FZ-07 you owe it to yourself to try this out for SURE. Here's the test you've been wanting to see: the new 2017 Suzuki SV650 vs. Yamaha's FZ-07. Both are $7000, have twin-cylinder engines, and cheap suspension and brakes. They're both bare, essential motorcycles that pack a lot of fun into an affordable package. For kicks, however, we brought along the KTM 690 Duke and a special guest – a 1999 Suzuki SV650. How do they stack up? You'll have to watch the video to see.
