Ownership of material
When you contribute material to the Slugger O’Toole website, you are providing us with a worldwide licence to use that material for any purpose.
However, you retain ownership of the copyright in the material.
We hope to provide our contributors with a platform to promote their writing and their capacity to generate valuable content. For this reason, we will provide a comprehensive archive of your posts and will be happy to facilitate contacts with potential customers for your work.
All material should either be original or be sourced. In respect of sourced information, it should only be contributed to the website under the appropriate licences and/or approvals, or be exempt from needing appropriate licences and/or approvals. Take particular care in respect of photographs, as there can often be no “fair-dealing” defence. We urge all contributors to gain a full knowledge of copyright rules and in contributing to the site, you agree to indemnify us against any claims for copyright infringement which may brought by any third party against us in respect of your contribution.
Content of material
In general terms, you should not contribute material which constitutes or encourages conduct that would be considered a criminal offence, give rise to civil liability, or otherwise be contrary to the law of or infringe the rights of any third party, in any country in the world. In contributing to the site, you agree to indemnify us against all such claims arising from your postings.
Criminal Law
No material should be posted which is threatening, obscene, indecent, pornographic, liable to incite racial or religious hatred, discriminatory, or is otherwise menacing.
Particular care must also be taken with material regarding ongoing court cases as this can be a contempt of court.
Publication of certain official information can also be an offence under Official Secrets legislation.
Civil Law
Defamatory material should not be published unless Slugger O’Toole Ltd has provided prior approval. This is also the case with the potential publication of personal, private, or confidential information.
Viruses
Also be careful to avoid loading any programs or attachments which could be technically harmful (including computer viruses, logic bombs, Trojan horses, worms, harmful components, corrupted data or other malicious software or harmful data).
