Mount Rainier and Tacoma for Visitors

Washington State, at the most northwest tip of the United States, offers visitors an experience like none other. The Tacoma area, in particular, is the perfect example of undiscovered sea-to-sky natural beauty – home to Mount Rainier National Park with its glaciers, meadows, streams and lakes. But, it’s not just for outdoorsmen, Tacoma also happens to be a world-class arts and culture hub. I’m Jody, and I’m starting my day here at Mount Rainier… have you ever seen anything like this before? You know Mount Rainier has more glaciers on a single peak than anywhere else in the U.S. except Alaska. This is incredible. Mount Rainier National Park is a year-round destination with everything from hiking, fishing and boating to some of the best skiing and snowshoeing you can imagine in the winter months. I would suggest taking the Crystal Mountain Resort gondola up to Summit House restaurant if you have a chance – amazing! Even though Tacoma has an abundance of outdoor activities it is also a somewhat undiscovered city to journey to, which furthermore makes it a tad less pricey, which we all love to hear! So, let’s switch gears and head into downtown Tacoma and see what we can find. Here in downtown Tacoma, you have so many options you’ll barely know where to begin. But, may I suggest starting here in the Museum district, where you’ll find the Museum of Glass, it’s a fascinating mix of exhibitions that will delight the entire family. Linking downtown to the Museum of Glass is the Chihuly Bridge of Glass. It’s a 500-foot long walkway with three incredible glass installations that are stunning both day and night. Along with the museums, downtown is full of historic buildings, excellent cuisine, theatres, art galleries, and boutiques. You should definitely go by one of the hot shops where you can actually make your own glass art. If all of this isn’t enough, you can head to the Dock Street Marina situated on the gorgeous Puget Sound where you can rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the waterway. The protected waterway has plenty of places to stop and enjoy the views of the city. Although I’ve been able to give you a taste of Tacoma, I haven’t even mentioned the brilliant craft breweries, the waterfront dining districts, and the fact that Tacoma is surrounded by a slew of charming towns.
