Alles brennt (English: Everything Burns) is the fourth studio album by the German recording artist Johannes Oerding. It was released by Columbia Records on January 30, 2015 in German-speaking Europe.

Johannes Oerding

Johannes Oerding (born December 26, 1981) is a German singer-songwriter.

Early life

Oerding was born in Münster, North Rhine-Westphalia and raised in Geldern-Kapellen near the border of the Netherlands. His father is a country doctor, while his mother is a nurse. Oerding has two brothers and two sisters.

Oerding was discovered in 1999, when he performed at a local block party in Iserlohn. Later, he moved to the Netherlands to earn a diploma in International Markteting. In 2006, he relocated to Hamburg to pursue a professional music career. There, he met singer-songwriter Michy Reincke, his neighbor at his new home in Barmbek-Süd, who garnered Oerding his first gigs.

Career

In 2009, Oerding his released his first single "Die Tage werden anders sein" on Columbia Records. The same year, his debut album Erste Wahl was released. Oerding worked with producers Mark "Big" Smith and Sven "Chef" Bünger on the majority of the album. While it failed to chart upon its initial release, a reissue of Erste Wahl, released in 2010, peaked at number 39 on the German Albums Chart when its single "Engel" received heavy radio rotation. The following year, Oerding's second album Boxer was released. It debuted at number eleven in Germany.

Alles wird gut

"Alles wird gut" (All will be well) is a song by Die Toten Hosen. It's the first single and the second track from the album Auf dem Kreuzzug ins Glück. The cover of the single is based on a detail from the painting "The Crucifixion" by Peter Paul Rubens.

The song is about going to the new millennium depicting it intimidating, but promising, with irony though. The fact, that pieces of Berlin Wall (torn down in 1989) became popular souvenirs is referenced in the line "Mit einem Stein in der Hand als Souvenir von der Mauer in Berlin/Klopfen wir an die Hintertür vom neuen Paradies" (With a stone in the hand as a souvenir from the wall in Berlin/We're knocking on the backdoor of the new paradise).

There is also an English version of the song on Love, Peace & Money, titled "Year 2000".

Music video

The video was directed by Walter Knofel and is officially unreleased. The band performs in a rocky place, wearing Middle Age-fashion clothes.

Johannes is a Medieval Latin form of the personal name that usually appears as "John" in English language contexts. It is a variant of the Greek name (Ιωάννης) and Classical Latin (Ioannes), itself derived from the Hebrew name Yehochanan, meaning "Yahweh is gracious". The name became popular in Northern Europe, especially in Germany. In Estonian Juhan, Jaan, Jaanus, Joonas and Hannes do come from the same root; Juss and Juku are the familiar names for Johannes.

Zugezogen Maskulin

Zugezogen Maskulin are a German rap duo, formed by grim104 and Testo in Berlin. They are signed to the Hamburg label Buback.

Zugezogen means 'newcomers' and the name is a reference to the fact that both members of the group are newcomers to Berlin, as well as an illusion to previous German rap duos 'Westberlin Maskulin' and 'Südberlin Maskulin'.

History

Grim104 and Testo founded the duo on 1 July 2010. In 2011 the free album Kauft nicht bei Zugezogenen! (Do not buy from newcomers) was released. The duo presents themselves, like K.I.Z., as a mockery of gangster rap and machoism, where they exaggerate the stereotypes. In addition, there are many sarcastic and ironic texts. In the fall of 2013, the duo were signed by the Hamburg Independent label Buback. On there grim104's self titled solo EP appeared in November 2013. On 13 February 2015, the second album of the group followed, Alles Brennt. (Everything Burns).
