Welcome to Houston, Texas, one of the largest cities in the United States.
Once an outpost in the Old West, Houston is now a down-to-earth metropolis, boasting a tremendous shipping and energy industry, as well as plenty of culture.
Kick off your Houston tour at Discovery Green, a 12-acre park tucked beneath the city’s skyscrapers. You’ll find public art and plenty of space to picnic or go for walks. Houstoners take pride in their various parks, museums, and open spaces, like the Houston Arboretum, where you can go birdwatching, learn about green living, and hike the trails to explore local wildlife.
Speaking of exploring, your Houston sightseeing should include a trip to the USS Texas., This battleship served in two World Wars and now stands guard as a museum on the Buffalo Bayou. Head over to the Gulf for a walk on the beach while you watch the sunset, then get ready to gear up for the evening with some delicious TexMex shared with the locals. After you lose yourself in a few rounds of line dancing to burn off all those fajitas, you’ll be wondering why you didn’t come to Houston earlier.

Dallas is the ninth most populous city in the United States and the third most populous city in the state of Texas. Dallas makes up one-fifth of the much larger urbanized area known as the Dallas--Fort Worth Metroplex, in which one quarter of all Texans live.
The most important places to visit in Dallas are: Southfork Ranch (it is known worldwide as the filming location for the "Dallas" series. Take a tour of America's most famous ranch), Botanical Garden (discover this wonderful garden in Dallas. The best time to visit is during Spring when thousands of flowers are blooming), Fair Park (home to museums and gardens, it is most famous for the amazing State Fair in the fall), Reunion Tower (one of the most famous landmarks of Dallas. Visitors can even dine at a restaurant at the top of the tower), Dealey Plaza (the site of John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963. It is a national historic landmark and you can see the spot where the fatal shot hit) and many more.
If you want to save time and money, the most important Dallas travel tip is to compare prices before booking a hotel room or a flight. You can do this for free on http://bookinghunter.com, a site that searches through hundreds of other travel websites in real time for the best travel deals available.

Welcome to Dallas, also called “The Big D,” part of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metroplex of 6.5 million people.
Whether you’re looking for arts, technology, or culture, a Dallas tour has a little bit of everything. Stroll through the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center to take in their creative works, followed by a trip up to the top of the Reunion Tower for a breathtaking view of the city.
If you have an affinity for living beings, you Dallas sightseeing must include the underwater passages of the Dallas World Aquarium. Don’t worry – it also has an entire section devoted to creatures of dry land, so make sure you check out the Jungle Walk. You can also scream your way through over 100 rides at Six Flags, or explore the history of the cowboy way at Pioneer Plaza.
A fine Texas day comes to an end with steak, dancing, and mingling with friendly locals who have hearts as big as the state itself.

Welcome to Austin, home to nearly 900,000 people. The capital of Texas attracts a number of young, talented university students, which has prompted a good-natured culture war between the newcomers and the city’s longtime residents. So far, the latter group seems to be winning, thanks to their dedication to the Keep Austin Weird campaign. You’ll find elements of this movement throughout the city in the shape of various art installations, eclectic eateries, and murals.
An Austin tour means an adventure in the Live Music Capital of the World, home to festivals celebrating all kinds of tunes. Whether you’re here to listen to blues, country, or a little bit of rockabilly, you’re bound to find exactly what your musical palette desires in this quirky town.
Austin is proud of its citizens, and throughout the city you’ll find monuments of ranchers, prominent musicians, and Civil War heroes. Many of these monuments are located in Austin’s numerous parks, making it an excellent place to get in touch with nature. If relaxing by a fountain seems a little too bohemian for you, visit South Congress Avenue. “SoCo” is a veritable paradise anyone who loves vintage threads and just the right amount of “weird” that makes Austin unique.
Don’t worry about keeping yourself fed – as you’ll notice in your Austin sightseeing adventure, you’ll find a food truck on every street, and bistros, cafes, and restaurants just waiting for you to dive in and sample their culinary offerings.
Whether you’re here for music, food, or to take in the local art scene, you’ll find no shortage of things to do in downtown Austin. Have you been to any of its famous festivals?

San Antonio ~ Texas ~ Discover San Antonio ~ Travel Guide
officially the City of San Antonio, is the seventh most populous city in the United States of America and the second most populous city in the state of Texas, with a population of 1,409,019.[1] It was the fastest growing of the top 10 largest cities in the United States from 2000 to 2010, and the second from 1990 to 2000.[4][5] The city is located in the American Southwest, the south–central part of Texas, and the southwestern corner of an urban region known as the Texas Triangle.
San Antonio serves as the seat of Bexar County. The city has characteristics of other western urban centers in which there are sparsely populated areas and a low density rate outside of the city limits. San Antonio is the center of the San Antonio–New Braunfels Metropolitan Statistical Area. Commonly referred to as Greater San Antonio, the metropolitan area has a population of over 2.27 million based on the 2013 US Census estimate, making it the 25th-largest metropolitan area in the United States and third-largest in the state of Texas. Growth along the Interstate 35 and Interstate 10 corridors to the north, west and east make it likely that the metropolitan area will continue to expand.
San Antonio was named for Saint Anthony of Padua, whose feast day is on June 13, by a 1691 Spanish expedition in the area. It is notable for Spanish colonial missions, the Alamo, the River Walk, the Tower of the Americas, the Alamo Bowl, and Marriage Island. Commercial entertainment includes SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas theme parks, and the city is visited by approximately 26 million tourists per year, according to the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau. The city is home to the five-time NBA champion San Antonio Spurs and hosts the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the largest such events in the country.
The US armed forces have numerous facilities in San Antonio: Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base (which constitute Joint Base San Antonio), and Lackland AFB/Kelly Field Annex, with Camp Bullis and Camp Stanley located outside the city. Kelly Air Force Base operated out of San Antonio until 2001, when the airfield was transferred to Lackland AFB. The remaining portions of the base were developed as Port San Antonio, an industrial/business park. San Antonio is home to six Fortune 500 companies and the South Texas Medical Center, the only medical research and care provider in the South Texas region.

officially the City of San Antonio, is the seventh most populous city in the United States of America and the second most populous city in the state of Texas, with a population of 1,409,019.[1] It was the fastest growing of the top 10 largest cities in the United States from 2000 to 2010, and the second from 1990 to 2000.[4][5] The city is located in the American Southwest, the south–central part of Texas, and the southwestern corner of an urban region known as the Texas Triangle.

Dallas - Texas - United States Travel guide http://goo.gl/tLsKrZ
Dallas is a young city with all the vigour of youth. Effigies of modern architecture rise like glass trees out of the downtown area. In 1841, it was simply a plan of 20 streets on the 256 hectares (640 acres) of south central America, claimed by a Tennessee lawyer, John Neely Bryan. Today, it is the ninth largest city in the USA, and including its western neighbour of Fort Worth, it is the nation's fastest growing metropolitan area.
Thriving at the bottom edge of America's Great Plains, Dallas has embraced dreamers and entrepreneurs for the better part of two centuries. Big D, as it's affectionately called, merges Southern hospitality with modern sophistication. Though the landscape looks different than at its humble beginning, the city still welcomes enterprising people who gather to share their grand ideas and stake claims on new frontiers.
Dallas will always be remembered for one, if not two, shootings. The first and most shocking occurred on 22 November 1963, when President J F Kennedy was assassinated in downtown Dallas. The second shooting may only have been fictional but, when J R Ewing was shot by an unknown killer in the TV series Dallas in the early 1980s, fans across the world were devastated. Even today, the legend of J R remains strong, as does the legacy of President Kennedy.
Today the city is a mecca for the banking, electronics and oil industries, as well as for dining, shopping, arts and entertainment. Large scale developments of urban lofts, apartments, condominiums, retail and both indoor and outdoor recreational facilities are springing up across the city. An impressive new Dallas Center for the Performing Arts opened in 2009 to vie with New York's Lincoln Center. New facilities and relevant attractions in and around this cultural centre continue to grow.
Among things you probably didn't know about Dallas: The city has the largest urban arts district in the United States spanning 19 blocks. What's more, the Dallas Arts District has more buildings designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architects in one contiguous location than anywhere else in the world. And Dallas' Fair Park, just a short distance east of the arts district and a district with numerous museums and venues, features the nation's largest collection of 1930s Art Deco, exposition-style architecture.
Dallas offers true Southern hospitality, be it in a humble hideaway cocktail bar or in the Mansion on Turtle Creek, repeatedly and regularly ranked as one of the world's top hotels. And with a 10th of its workforce in the hospitality industry, Dallas is always happy to have y'all come on in and stick around awhile.
Those wishing to explore further afield should take the busy freeway 30 miles to the west to the easy-going, cattle-driving, twin city of Fort Worth, home to a national historic district and a surprising stash of world-class art museums.
The similarities between the two include a stunning rate of business and population growth, in spite of a sluggish recent economy; a shared passion for the pro sports teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, whose new billion-dollar stadium is now in Tarrant County instead of Dallas; and a great pride in being Texan.

Planning a trip to Houston, Texas? Learn about the top eight places to visit and what makes them special in this travel video.
The name Houston was made more famous by association with space, and rightly so. Houston is home to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, which you can visit through the museum Space Center Houston. This unique museum teaches visitors all about space exploration.
Come down from space and learn about what’s right here on earth. The Houston Zoo may not be the largest zoo in the country, but it’s one of the most popular. The Houston Zoo offers educational experiences that bring visitors closer to the animals.
You can learn more about Houston’s past at the Heritage Society in Sam Houston Park. Here, you can take a tour of some of Houston’s oldest buildings or visit a museum to learn more about the city’s history.
You can also get a feel for the Houston of today in Discovery Green. This new park is where Houstonians go to play, taking advantage of the modern amenities.
Houston also boasts some fine architecture. Houston’s City Hall is a simple but striking example of modern architecture, designed by one of Houston’s top architects. The JPMorgan Chase Tower is also not to be missed. Designed by acclaimed architect I.M. Pei, this skyscraper is Texas’ tallest building. The San Jacinto Monument isn't quite as tall, but it is the tallest column in the world and the view from the top is phenomenal.
No matter how you look at it, Houston has something for everyone.

About The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature on Dec. 7, 2012, in a historic move that combined the resources and assets of UTPA and UTB, and, for the first time, made it possible for residents of the Rio Grande Valley to benefit from the Permanent University Fund. This show explores the impact upon southern Texas by the Tri-City Bombers gang. Numbering more than 1000 members, this vicious Hispanic gang runs both drugs and weapons between Texas and Mexico, making it one of the most feared gangs in the state. They also battle their arch-enemy, the Texas Chicano Brotherhood, for supremacy.
The Tri-City Bombers (originally called the Tri-City Poppers) started as clique of young break dancers that became a street gang in the early 1990s when the popularity of break dancing declined.. The "Bombitas", as their known, originated as a break dancing crew in Lopezville colonia north of San Juan, Texas. The crew was based within the tri-city border metropolis of Pharr, San Juan and Alamo, Texas. The street gang was involved in petty crime and many of its members were sent to prison and became associate members of the Texas Syndicate.
Paroled members of the Tri-City Bombers adopted the highly organized structure of the Texas Syndicate and set up a similar chain of command for their gang on the streets. The gang built an alliance with the Texas Syndicate in 1994 and assists the TS in high intensity drug trafficking, extortion and armed robberies.
In 1994, Tri-City Bombers Gilberto Villarreal and J.D. Urbina split from gang and form the Texas Chicano Brotherhood. The Tri-City Bombers did not approve of the split and declared war with the Texas Chicano Brotherhood soon after. The Texas Syndicate, Tango Blast and Mexikanemi all joined in on the attack against the Texas Chicano Brotherhood to prevent the new gang from establishing itself in the Texas prison system.
Texas gang intelligence officials say they have seen an increase in numbers of Tri-City Bombers in Texas prisons and believe the gang is currently recruiting new members behind the walls. The sharp decline of traditional gangs such as Texas Syndicate may be the reason street gangs such as the Tri-City Bombers are thriving in numbers.

December 19, 2012 -- EDINBURG, Texas -- The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced in a press conference on Wednesday that they have formally accepted an invitation to join the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) in all sports effective July 1, 2013.
"Joining the WAC is a wonderful opportunity for UT-Pan American," UTPA President Dr. Robert S. Nelsen said. " Our students will finally have a voice in NCAA decisions. They will also have an opportunity to compete for national championships. Our student-athletes and our coaches have worked very hard to get us to this point in time. I am very proud of them."
The WAC membership for 2013-14 is currently scheduled to include UTPA, California State University Bakersfield, Chicago State University, the University of Idaho, New Mexico State University, Seattle University and Utah Valley University, as well as associate members Sacramento State University in baseball, the University of Northern Colorado in baseball and women's swimming and diving, the University of North Dakota in women's swimming and diving, and Northern Arizona University in women's swimming and diving.
The WAC sponsors all 14 of the Broncs' current sports, including men's and women's cross country, women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's golf, and men's and women's indoor and outdoor track and field.
All of the Broncs teams have been competing in the Great West Conference since the 2009-10 season, with the exception of men's tennis, which is a member of the Southland Conference, and men's golf, which is part of the America Sky Conference.
For the first time since the 1997-98 season, when the Broncs were members of the Sun Belt Conference, UTPA women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, baseball, women's tennis and women's golf will be able to compete for an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Tournament. Men's tennis and men's golf are currently able to compete for automatic qualifiers in the Southland Conference and America Sky Conference, respectively. Cross country and track and field qualifiers are based on times and distances, not conference championships.
"This is a defining moment in the history of UTPA Athletics, and it has been a long time coming. We have been working hard for the last few years to transform this department into one that is no longer content with simply being at the Division I level, but instead has a strong group of student-athletes and coaches who can help us compete for championships while excelling in the classroom and the community. This is another step in that transformation process," UTPA Director of Athletics Chris King said. "Aligning ourselves with a nationally recognized and well-branded conference such as the WAC will allow us to gain national exposure for both UTPA and the entire Rio Grande Valley."
All eight full-time members are in the top 126 media markets in the nation, with seven in the top 91 and four in the top 33. In 2012, the Rio Grande Valley was the fastest growing of those markets, adding 5,810 TV homes, an increase of 1.6 percent. Nielsen, a company that measures media audiences, including television, is currently projecting the Rio Grande Valley to move up one spot in 2013, to market No. 86, and add another 2,340 TV homes, an increase of 0.6 percent.
Additionally, Nielsen projects the Rio Grande Valley to be the 10th largest Hispanic television market in the country, at 2.219 percent of the total, giving the WAC four of the top 15 Hispanic markets, along with No. 6 Chicago (Chicago State), No. 9 Phoenix (Grand Canyon), and No. 15 El Paso/Las Cruces (New Mexico State).
"The addition of The University of Texas-Pan American adds another important piece to the rebuilding of the Western Athletic Conference," WAC Interim Commissioner Jeff Hurd said. "UTPA brings a program with 60 years of history and success, and we look forward to the Broncs competing at a high level in the WAC."
The WAC was formed on July 27, 1962, making it the sixth oldest among the NCAA's 11 Division I-A conferences. Member institutions met quick success as Utah reached the NCAA Final Four while BYU won the NIT in 1966.
More recent success includes Utah reaching the 1998 men's basketball championship game and leading for most of the game before finishing as runner up to Kentucky. Two months later, Fresno State won the national championship in softball and UNLV won the national championship in men's golf.
Since 2000, Tulsa has won the NIT (2001) while Rice and Fresno State have won NCAA championships in baseball (2003 and 2008 respectively). Additionally, in 2006, Louisiana Tech's Paul Milsap became the first player in NCAA history to lead the nation in rebounding three years in a row.
The WAC has sent at least two teams to the men's basketball NCAA Tournament in 24 of the last 29 seasons.
