Bautizado y botado con el nombre del estado de Missouri por la hija del quien sería el futuro presidente Harry Thruman y este a su vez era de dicho estado. Casí 5 decadas despues el Mighty Mo sería reactivado para la Guerra del Golfo. Students at the University of Missouri have been protesting rampant racist harassment on campus. The University President has resigned, and now Fox News is pissed. Cenk Uygur, host of the The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
Shortly after University of Missouri president Tim Wolfe resigned on Monday in the midst of massive protests about racial inequality on campus, Fox News' "The Five" held a discussion on the controversy.
Wolfe had been under pressure to step down for months, but things grew increasingly dire last weekend after 30 black football players said they would not play their next game if he stayed on.
"The Five" co-host Eric Bolling lashed out at the players, saying they deserved to be kicked off the team.
"I would say 'Fine, goodbye. We'll find 25 or 30 new ball players to sit in. We may lose the rest of the season,'" he said. "I'll take anyone on this team, hey I'll take the basketball team. You want to come play football? Hey, let's go and see how it works out."
Fortunately for the student athletes, their actual coach was more supportive.
"The Mizzou Family stands as one," head coach Gary Pinkel said on Sunday. "We are united. We are behind our players."

The history of Missouri begins with France and Spain settling the Louisiana territory and selling it to the U.S. in 1803. Statehood came following a compromise in 1820. Missouri grew rapidly until the Civil War, which saw numerous small battles and control by the Union. Its economy has become diverse and complex, and the state ranks in the middle of many economic and social indicators.
In May 1673, Jesuit priest Jacques Marquette and French trader Louis Jolliet sailed down the Mississippi River in canoes along the area that would later become the state of Missouri. The earliest recorded use of "Missouri" is found on a map drawn by Marquette after his 1673 journey, naming both a group of Native Americans and a nearby river. However, the French rarely used the word to refer to the land in the region, instead calling it part of the Illinois Country. In 1682, after his successful journey from the Great Lakes to the mouth of the Mississippi River at the Gulf of Mexico, René-Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle claimed the Louisiana Territory for France. During the journey, La Salle built several trading posts in the Illinois Country in an effort to create a trading empire; however, before La Salle could fully implement his plans, he died on a second journey to the region during a mutiny in 1685.

Missouri (
i/mɨˈzʊəri/) (nickname The Show Me State) is a U.S. state located in the Midwestern United States, bordered by Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. With the exceptions of the Presidential elections of 1956 and 2008, Missouri's results have accurately predicted the next President of the United States in every election since 1904. It has both Midwestern and Southern cultural influences, reflecting its history as a border state. It is also a transition between the Eastern and Western United States, as St. Louis is often called the "western-most Eastern city" and Kansas City the "eastern-most Western city". Missouri's geography is highly varied. The northern part of the state lies in dissected till plains while the southern part lies in the Ozark Mountains (a dissected plateau), with the Missouri River dividing the two. The state lies at the intersection of the three greatest rivers of North America, with the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri Rivers near St. Louis, and the confluence of the Ohio River with the Mississippi north of the Bootheel. The starting points of the Pony Express Trail and Oregon Trail were both in Missouri. The mean center of United States population as of the 2010 Census is at the town of Plato in Texas County, Missouri.

COLUMBIA, MISSOURI — Journalists covering the anti-racist demonstrations at the University of Missouri in Columbia were met with harassment and a human wall on Friday, the New York Times reported. The journalists' access was restricted by demonstrators and school faculty. In a video of the altercation, one photographer, Tim Tai who was covering the demonstration for ESPN, was pushed back by the crowd of people. Mark Schierbecker, the person recording the incident, retreated to the inside of the circle where he was heckled by Mass Communications professor Melissa Click. When he refuses to leave, she calls for "muscle" to remove him. Students at the University of Missouri have been protesting rampant racist harassment on campus. The University President has resigned, and now Fox News is pissed. Cenk Uygur, host of the The Young Turks, breaks it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below.
Shortly after University of Missouri president Tim Wolfe resigned on Monday in the midst of massive protests about racial inequality on campus, Fox News' "The Five" held a discussion on the controversy.
Wolfe had been under pressure to step down for months, but things grew increasingly dire last weekend after 30 black football players said they would not play their next game if he stayed on.
"The Five" co-host Eric Bolling lashed out at the players, saying they deserved to be kicked off the team.
"I would say 'Fine, goodbye. We'll find 25 or 30 new ball players to sit in. We may lose the rest of the season,'" he said. "I'll take anyone on this team, hey I'll take the basketball team. You want to come play football? Hey, let's go and see how it works out."
Fortunately for the student athletes, their actual coach was more supportive.
"The Mizzou Family stands as one," head coach Gary Pinkel said on Sunday. "We are united. We are behind our players."

COLUMBIA, MISSOURI — Journalists covering the anti-racist demonstrations at the University of Missouri in Columbia were met with harassment and a human wall on Friday, the New York Times reported.
The journalists' access was restricted by demonstrators and school faculty. In a video of the altercation, one photographer, Tim Tai who was covering the demonstration for ESPN, was pushed back by the crowd of people. Mark Schierbecker, the person recording the incident, retreated to the inside of the circle where he was heckled by Mass Communications professor Melissa Click. When he refuses to leave, she calls for "muscle" to remove him.
Tai repeatedly told the people harassing him that it's his first amendment right to photograph them and be in the public space, and he posted on his Twitter page that there is a law protecting his right to be in the University of Missouri quad.
Tai had been covering the demonstration, including a hunger strike which called for the resignation of the university's president Tim Wolfe for his handling of racist incidents that happened on campus. The football team also demonstrated in solidarity with the student on the hunger strike by refusing to play until Wolfe stepped down, which he did on Monday.
