Loch Lomond (/ˈlɒxˈloʊmənd/; Scottish Gaelic Loch Laomainn) is a freshwater Scottish loch which crosses the Highland Boundary Fault. It is the largest inland stretch of water in Great Britain by surface area. The loch contains many islands, including Inchmurrin, the largest fresh-water island in the British Isles. Loch Lomond is a popular leisure destination and is featured in the song "The Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond". The Loch is now part of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park which was established in 2002.
Loch Lomond is a freshwater loch lying on the Highland Boundary Fault, often considered the boundary between the lowlands of Central Scotland and the Highlands. It is 24 miles (39 km) long and between 0.75 miles (1.21 km) and 5 miles (8.0 km) wide. It has an average depth of about 121 feet (37 m), and a maximum depth of about 620 feet (190 m). Its surface area is 27 sq mi (70 km2), and it has a volume of 2.6 km3 (0.62 cu mi). Of all lochs and lakes in Great Britain, it is the largest by surface area, and the second largest (after Loch Ness) by water volume. Within the United Kingdom, it is surpassed only by Lough Neagh and Lower Lough Erne in Northern Ireland and regarding the British Isles as a whole there are also several larger loughs in the Republic of Ireland.

http://www.aswetravel.com/stirling-loch-lomond-scotland-travel-video/ - Stirling Loch Lomond, Scotland As We Travel Europe We spent the last few days in Fort William, went mountain biking, took an amazing cruise, and saw some beautiful nature. Right now, we’re sitting on a train going to Glasgow. Apparently it’s one of the most beautiful train rides in the world. Tomorrow, we’re going to go to Stirling and learn more about the Scottish history. It’s beautiful out there. It was all designed to try and break Bruce’s spirit, but it didn’t. He continued in his quest, capturing castle after castle, ‘til finally in 1313, there was just one great castle left in all in the hands of the English: Stirling. Stirling, right in the middle of the country. You know, the castle there’s the strongest in t...

From a declining industrial centre with widespread pessimism about its future, Scotland's biggest city has been transformed into a vibrant, dynamic city hailed as one of the hippest spots in Europe. A large student population has given the city a youthful, progressive character and, with thumping nightlife, one of the strongest live music scenes in the UK, plus first-rate shopping. Glasgow continues to assert itself as one of Britain's most appealing destinations. With several outstanding art galleries, including the high...

By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes,
Where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond
Where me and my true love were ever wont to gae,
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o’ Loch Lomond.
Chorus
O ye’ll tak’ the high road and I’ll tak’ the low road,
And I’ll be in Scotland afore ye.
But me and my true love will never meet again,
On the bonnie, bonnie banks o’ Loch Lomond.
‘Twas there that we parted in yon shady glen,
On the steep, steep side o’ Ben Lomond.
Where in deep purple hue, the hieland hills we view,
And the moon comin’ out in the gloamin’.
The wee birdies sing and the wild flowers spring,
And in sunshine the waters are sleeping:
But the broken heart, it kens nae second spring again,
