Charles Lloyd-Pack (10 October 1902 – 22 December 1983) was a British film, television and stage actor.
He was born in London. He was seen in several horror films produced by the Hammer Studios including Dracula, The Man Who Could Cheat Death, The Revenge of Frankenstein and The Reptile and Quatermass 2, the film version of the 1955 BBC TV serial. In 1970 he appeared as Claud Nau at the Chichester Festival Theatre in Robert Bolt's play, Vivat! Vivat Regina!. His best known role was Professor Marks in the British television series Strange Report but he is also known from other television appearances in The Avengers, The Adventures of Robin Hood and The Prisoner.
He married Ulrike Elizabeth Pulay (25 April 1921 – 2000) in 1941, and was the father of actor Roger Lloyd-Pack and stage manager Christopher Lloyd-Pack, and grandfather of actress Emily Lloyd and Spencer, Hartley and Louis Lloyd-Pack.
Only Fools and Horses is a British television sitcom created and written by John Sullivan. Seven series were originally broadcast on BBC One in the United Kingdom from 1981 to 1991, with nine sporadic Christmas specials until its end in 2003. Episodes are regularly repeated on UKTV comedy channel Gold and occasionally repeated on BBC One.
Set in Peckham in south London, it stars David Jason as ambitious market trader Derek "Del Boy" Trotter, Nicholas Lyndhurst as his younger brother Rodney Trotter, and Lennard Pearce as their elderly Grandad. After Pearce's death in 1984, his character was replaced by Del and Rodney's Uncle Albert (Buster Merryfield). Backed by a strong supporting cast, the series follows the Trotters' highs and lows in life, in particular their attempts to get rich.
The show achieved consistently high ratings, and the 1996 episode "Time on Our Hands" holds the record for the highest UK audience for a sitcom episode, attracting 24.3 million viewers (over a third of the population). Critically and popularly acclaimed, the series received numerous awards, including recognition from BAFTA, the National Television Awards and the Royal Television Society, as well as winning individual accolades for both Sullivan and Jason. It was voted Britain's Best Sitcom in a 2004 BBC poll.
Roger Lloyd-Pack (8 February 1944 – 15 January 2014) was an English actor. He was best known for the role of Trigger in Only Fools and Horses from 1981 to 2003. He also had a supporting role of Owen Newitt in The Vicar of Dibley from 1994 to 2007, and as Tom in The Old Guys with Clive Swift. He was also well known for his appearance as Barty Crouch, Sr. in the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and his appearances in Doctor Who as John Lumic in the episodes "Rise of the Cybermen" and "The Age of Steel". He was occasionally credited without the hyphen in his surname. He died early in 2014 from pancreatic cancer.
Lloyd-Pack was born in Islington, London, the son of Ulrike Elizabeth (née Pulay, 1921-2000), an Austrian Jewish refugee who worked as a travel agent, and Charles Lloyd-Pack, who was also an actor. He attended Bedales School near Petersfield in Hampshire, where he achieved A Level passes in English, French and Latin. He subsequently trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), where he worked with actors including Kenneth Cranham and Richard Wilson.
