Guy Allen tests the new stripped back BMW R1200R and calls it an "easy going big road bike"
As close as BMW gets to a "plain Jane" motorcycle, the R1200R is BMW newest base model in the boxer range. The bike still packs an electronic punch though with heated grips, ABS, traction control and electronic suspension.
The idea behind it was to create a "bare bones bike" that can be used in almost any situation.
So if your in the market for an all rounder, easy going bike that is fully loaded with electronics, put the R1200R on your list.

The new BMW R1200R roadster will cost £10,250 when it hits dealers in February and is powered by BMW’s latest-generation, 125bhp liquid-cooled 1170cc boxer engine, which first appeared in last year’s revamped R1200GS and this year’s RT tourer and GS Adventure.
There’s a new chassis and styling, but the biggest news is the move away from the old machine’s Telelever front end. New, non-adjustable, 45mm upside-down forks promise to give the R1200R a less quirky feel at the front end. But there’s still BMW’s tried and tested Paralever system at the rear, incorporating shaft drive.

The BMW R1200R is a naked (or standard) motorcycle that was introduced in 2006 by BMW Motorrad. It replaces the R1150R, compared with which it has a 55 lb (25 kg) weight saving and 28% increase in power. Despite the above categorisation, many owners choose to use this motorcycle as a Touring motorcycle by fitting Panniers to carry luggage and other such accessories that are readily available.

Mike 'the bike' at Southport Superbikes was a very nice chap and lent me the new 2015 model BMW R1200R for a morning play. Although it feels very similar to my 2013 version the new liquid cooled version of the 1170cc flat twin engine makes it a very different bike. Basically it is fantastic, and I really want one at the moment, however I will be hanging on to my beer tokens until I have had a test ride on the R1200RS.

As close as BMW gets to a "plain Jane" motorcycle, the R1200R is BMW newest base model in the boxer range. The bike still packs an electronic punch though with heated grips, ABS, traction control and electronic suspension.
The idea behind it was to create a "bare bones bike" that can be used in almost any situation.
So if your in the market for an all rounder, easy going bike that is fully loaded with electronics, put the R1200R on your list.

There’s a new chassis and styling, but the biggest news is the move away from the old machine’s Telelever front end. New, non-adjustable, 45mm upside-down forks promise to give the R1200R a less quirky feel at the front end. But there’s still BMW’s tried and tested Paralever system at the rear, incorporating shaft drive.

Mike 'the bike' at Southport Superbikes was a very nice chap and lent me the new 2015 model BMW R1200R for a morning play.
Although it feels very similar to my 2013 version the new liquid cooled version of the 1170cc flat twin engine makes it a very different bike. Basically it is fantastic, and I really want one at the moment, however I will be hanging on to my beer tokens until I have had a test ride on the R1200RS.

A pitbull was raped and murdered in Thuston County, Washington last week. The animal was found hanging from a tree, with its feet just out of reach of the ground, on Department of Natural Resources land. A mountain biker came across the macabre scene while cycling through the property. The pitbull had clearly died of asphyxiation from whatever contraption its killer had constructed, reported Seattle Times ... This is horrific.”....
