The Bobby Orr Rush -- Catch Me If You Can!!

Remember the pre-cable days huddled around the old black and white TV, fidgeting with the antenna to get WSBK TV38 to come in to see the Bruins? And who can forget doing a jig to the opening tune by the Ventures ("Nutty")! [The Ventures tune was nixed by Youtube. The present audio is "Rush" by M Trax.] These clips are a little "grainy" and seen best when viewed in the smaller screen but they are a reminder of the days of watching the Bruins before NESN. And, of course, the best Bruin of them all (and greatest all around player ever!) wore Number Four - Bobby Orr!!

Never before accomplished, nor ever duplicated except by Bobby Orr: 1) Eight Norris Trophies (consecutive) Except for his rookie year, Orr won this trophy every year he was relatively healthy. 2) Art Ross Trophy as a Defenseman Bobby Orr remains the only defenseman ever to accomplish this feat, and he did it twice, as well as three runner ups and a third place finish (when he missed 20 games). 3) Multiple Hart Trophies as a Defenseman Orr was the first defenseman to win this during the Norris trophy era, and did it three times. He remains the only multiple winner of the Hart trophy as a defenseman. (Chris Pronger is the only other defenseman to break into this camp, albeit only once). 4) Percentage over Peers by Positional Grouping in Scoring Orr topped the charts over his defensive peers at a far greater rate than any other positional player ever. In 69-70 he was 176% over the next d-man, 123% in 70-71, 88% in 72-73, 81% in 74-75. Robert Gordon "Bobby" Orr, OC (born March 20, 1948) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Orr played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for his entire career, the first ten seasons with the Boston Bruins, joining the Chicago Black Hawks for two more. Orr is widely acknowledged to be one of the greatest hockey players of all time. A defenceman, Orr used his ice skating speed and scoring and play-making abilities to revolutionize the position. As of 2011^[update], Orr remains the only defenceman to have won the league scoring title with two Art Ross Trophies and holds the record for most points and assists in a single season by a defenceman. Orr won a record eight consecutive Norris Trophies as the NHL's best defenceman and three consecutive Hart Trophies as the league's most valuable player (MVP). Orr was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979 at age 31, the youngest to that day to be inducted into the Hall.

And who can forget doing a jig to the opening tune by the Ventures ("Nutty")! [The Ventures tune was nixed by Youtube. The present audio is "Rush" by M Trax.] These clips are a little "grainy" and seen best when viewed in the smaller screen but they are a reminder of the days of watching the Bruins before NESN.
