The classical, indie, post-rock haze that Clogs has become known for has materialized once again on the Last Song EP.
The first proper "single" from their most recent LP, The Creatures in the Garden of Lady Walton, "Last Song," appears on the EP, featuring the evocative muttered baritone of Matt Berninger of The National. Clogs co-founder Padma Newsome sings lead on the second track, "No Bridge." The final instrumental piece "Loev Song" is performed by the group.
Released at the same time as the EP is a video for "Last Song" by Benjamin and Stefan Ramirez Perez, twin brothers studying film and animation at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, Germany, and the Vancouver School's Digital Design program, respectively.

A klomp is a clog from the Netherlands. Klompen are whole feet clogs.
Approximately 3 million pairs of klompen are made each year.[1] They are sold throughout the Netherlands. A large part of the market is for tourist souvenirs. However some Dutch people, particularly farmers, market gardeners and gardeners still wear them for everyday use. Outside the tourist industry, klompen can be found best in local tool shops and garden centers.
The traditional all-wooden Dutch clogs have been officially accredited as safety shoes with the CE mark and can withstand almost any penetration including sharp objects and concentrated acids. They are actually safer than steelcapped protective shoes in some circumstances, as the wood cracks rather than dents in extreme accidents, allowing easy removal of the clog and not continued pressure on the toes by the (edge of) the steel nose.[2] Some of the Dutch also consider wearing clogs as being healthy for the wearers' feet.

Since 2000, Clogs have plotted a unique course between outsider art and the avant-garde, composed music and popular song. The Sundown Song EP presents Clogs at their most intimate. Mostly the work of founder Padma Newsome in singer-songwriter and choral director mode, it finds him creating and singing songs depicting his life and thoughts from his current home base, Mallacoota, one of the most isolated towns in the Australian state of Victoria.
The EP presents three songs about mortality and bittersweet endings, gently backed by the Mallacoota Community Choir. From the album art to the thematic material, it offers a coda to Clogs' much beloved 2010 songcycle The Creatures in the Garden of Lady Walton, and marks an ending of what Clogs once were as well as a reaffirmation of what they continue to be.
Clogs have already outlasted, influenced and impressed a who's who of modern music. They co-headlined the very last performance of post-rock godfathers Rachel's in New York. When The National emerged as the late bloomer favorite of the Brooklyn indie scene, it was Newsome's arrangements and playing that helped now-classic albums Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, Alligator and Boxer stand out.
When The Books began performing their folk-classical constructions live, Clogs were there as their crack backing band. And last year, when minimalist composer Steve Reich celebrated his 70th birthday, Clogs were invited to take part in the concert celebration assembled by London's prestigious Barbican Centre. Not surprisingly we've heard Clogs praised by a heterogeneous mix of artists ranging from Antony and Grizzly Bear, to Sufjan Stevens and Laurie Anderson, to the younger composers who founded New Amsterdam Records.
Clogs continue to stand as an inspiration to and primary influence on today's increasingly boundaryless "new music" world.

A clog is a type of footwear made in part or completely from wood. Clogs are used worldwide and although the form may vary by culture, within a culture the form often remained unchanged for centuries.
Traditional clogs were often worn in heavy labor. Today they remain in use as protective clothing in agriculture and in some factories and mines. Although clogs are sometimes negatively associated with cheap and folkloric footwear of farmers and the working class, some types of clogs are considered as fashion wear today, such as Swedish clogs or Japanese geta.
Clogs are also used in several different styles of dance. When worn for dancing an important feature is the sound of the clog against the floor. This is one of the fundamental roots of tap, but with the tap shoes the taps are free to click against each other and produce different sound to clogs.
The Oxford English Dictionary defines a clog as a "thick piece of wood", and later as a "wooden soled overshoe" and a "shoe with a thick wooden sole".

Shara Worden is the lead singer and songwriter for My Brightest Diamond. She was previously a backup vocalist for Sufjan Stevens and the frontwoman of Awry.
Shara is the daughter of a National Accordion Champion-winning father and a mother who was an organist for their Pentecostal church. Worden grew up in Sapulpa, Oklahoma and Ypsilanti, Michigan, listening to gospel, jazz, and classical music and performing in the church choir.
Worden moved throughout her childhood, and graduated from the University of North Texas with a BA. She moved to New York City, where she continued to study opera, on the Upper West Side during the day.
In 2006, Shara was nominated for Female Artist of the Year in the PLUG Independent Music Awards. She made a guest appearance on the Jedi Mind Tricks album Servants in Heaven, Kings in Hell in 2006 and on the Vinnie Paz album Season of the Assassin in 2010. In 2003 Shara Worden played xylophone and keyboard, and sang background vocals on two tracks of the CD Recession Special by Bogs Visionary Orchestra.

Clogs - "Last Song" (featuring Matt Berninger from The National)
The classical, indie, post-rock haze that Clogs has become known for has materialized once again on the Last Song EP. The first proper "single" from their most recent LP, The Creatures in the Garden of Lady Walton, "Last Song," appears on the EP, featuring the evocative muttered baritone of Matt Berninger of The National. Clogs co-founder Padma Newsome sings lead on the second track, "No Bridge." The final instrumental piece "Loev Song" is performed by the group. Released at the same time as the EP is a video for "Last Song" by Benjamin and Stefan Ramirez Perez, twin brothers studying film and animation at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, Germany, and the Vancouver School's Digital Design program, respectively. A klomp is a clog from the Netherlands. Klompen are whole feet clogs. Approximately 3 million pairs of klompen are made each year.[1] They are sold throughout the Netherlands. A large part of the market is for tourist souvenirs. However some Dutch people, particularly farmers, market gardeners and gardeners still wear them for everyday use. Outside the tourist industry, klompen can be found best in local tool shops and garden centers. The traditional all-wooden Dutch clogs have been officially accredited as safety shoes with the CE mark and can withstand almost any penetration including sharp objects and concentrated acids. Since 2000, Clogs have plotted a unique course between outsider art and the avant-garde, composed music and popular song. The Sundown Song EP presents Clogs at their most intimate. Mostly the work of founder Padma Newsome in singer-songwriter and choral director mode, it finds him creating and singing songs depicting his life and thoughts from his current home base, Mallacoota, one of the most isolated towns in the Australian state of Victoria.
The EP presents three songs about mortality and bittersweet endings, gently backed by the Mallacoota Community Choir. From the album art to the thematic material, it offers a coda to Clogs' much beloved 2010 songcycle The Creatures in the Garden of Lady Walton, and marks an ending of what Clogs once were as well as a reaffirmation of what they continue to be.
Clogs have already outlasted, influenced and impressed a who's who of modern music. They co-headlined the very last performance of post-rock godfathers Rachel's in New York. When The National emerged as the late bloomer favorite of the Brooklyn indie scene, it was Newsome's arrangements and playing that helped now-classic albums Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers, Alligator and Boxer stand out.
When The Books began performing their folk-classical constructions live, Clogs were there as their crack backing band. And last year, when minimalist composer Steve Reich celebrated his 70th birthday, Clogs were invited to take part in the concert celebration assembled by London's prestigious Barbican Centre. Not surprisingly we've heard Clogs praised by a heterogeneous mix of artists ranging from Antony and Grizzly Bear, to Sufjan Stevens and Laurie Anderson, to the younger composers who founded New Amsterdam Records.
Clogs continue to stand as an inspiration to and primary influence on today's increasingly boundaryless "new music" world.
