Super Metroid (sometimes referred to as "Metroid 3") is a direct sequel to the 1991 game Metroid II: Return of Samus. The 1994 installment of Metroid feels like a beefed up version of the original game. It was developed by Nintendo R&D1; and Intelligent Systems, and was published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo. Samus can run, jump, crouch, and fire a weapon in eight directions; she can also perform other actions, such as wall jumping—jumping from one wall to another in rapid succession to reach higher areas.
