Compressive & Tensile Stresses in Structural Members
This video shows the Compressive & Tensile Stresses in different structural members.
Beam is a flexural member which faces bending moment or flexural stresses.
Column is a compressive member which faces compressive load mainly.
Slab is a flexural member like beam and also it faces bending stresses or flexural stresses.
Truss is a structural member which faces axial load mainly, there is no bending moment or shear forces in trusses. Axial loads in trusses are mainly compressive and tensile load.
