The Junior Eurovision Song Contest (French: Concours Eurovision de la Chanson Junior), often shortened to JESC, Junior Eurovision or Junior EuroSong, is a song competition which has been organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) annually since 2003 and is open exclusively to broadcasters that are members of the EBU. It is held in a different European city each year, however the same city can host the contest more than once.
The competition has many similarities to the Eurovision Song Contest from which its name is taken. Each participating broadcaster sends an act, the members of which are aged 10 to 15 on the day of the contest, and an original song lasting between 2 minutes 45 seconds and 3 minutes to compete against the other entries. Each entry represents the country served by the participating broadcaster. Viewers from the participating countries are invited to vote for their favourite performances by televote and a national jury from each participating country also vote. The overall winner of the contest is the entry that has received the most points after the scores from every country have been collected and totalled. The current winner is Destiny Chukunyere of Malta, who won the 2015 contest in Bulgaria with "Not My Soul". The highest scoring winner is Destiny Chukunyere of Malta who won the 2015 contest with a record 185 points.

The Eurovision Song Contest (French: Concours Eurovision de la chanson), often shortened to ESC or Eurovision, is the longest-running annual TV song competition, held, primarily, among the member countries of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) since 1956. The competition was based upon the existing Sanremo Music Festival held in Italy.
Each participating country submits an original song to be performed on live television and radio and then casts votes for the other countries' songs to determine the most popular song in the competition. The contest has been broadcast every year for sixty years, since its inauguration in 1956, and is one of the longest-running television programmes in the world. It is also one of the most watched non-sporting events in the world, with audience figures having been quoted in recent years as anything between 100 million and 600 million internationally. Eurovision has also been broadcast outside Europe to several countries that do not compete, such as the USA and China. An exception was made in 2015, when Australia was allowed to compete as a guest entrant as part of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the event. In November 2015, the EBU announced that Australia would return in 2016. Since 2000, the contest has also been broadcast over the Internet, via the Eurovision website.
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2005 was the third Junior Eurovision Song Contest for young singers aged 8 to 15. On 26 November 2005, the contest was broadcast live from the Ethias Arena in Hasselt, Belgium, in a joint effort by the national broadcasters Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroep (VRT) and Radio télévision belge de la communauté française (RTBF), in co-operation with the European Broadcasting Union. Belgium won the right to hold the contest over five other countries including Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) of Croatia and AVRO of the Netherlands.Marcel Vanthilt and Maureen Louys hosted the event.
The show was not only broadcast live in the competing countries, it was also available on satellite worldwide and the Australian television channel SBS who acquired the rights to broadcast the show one month later.
As many as twenty countries could have participated in this contest: Cyprus should have taken part but on October 13, Cypriot broadcaster Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) announced their withdrawal after questions arose over the song's origins, with complaints stating that the song they had chosen appeared to be plagiarism. This did not affect their ability to take part in the voting. In addition, Lithuania and Ukraine had planned on entering but later withdrew.Georgia had also wanted to appear but missed the participation deadline for the contest. Interest was also stated by Monaco with Phil Bosco the Head of Delegation for Monaco, telling esctoday.com that "The Minister of State was very interested in the proposal".
The Eurovision Song Contest 2005 was the 50th annual Eurovision Song Contest. The contest took place at the Palace of Sports in Kiev, Ukraine, following Ruslana's win in the 2004 Contest with the song "Wild Dances". The contest consisted of two shows: the semi-final and final, which took place on 19 and 21 May 2005, respectively. The shows were hosted by Maria Efrosinina and Pavlo Shylko. Thirty-nine countries participated, including the débuts of Bulgaria and Moldova and the return of Hungary, which was last represented in 1998.
Organizers hoped that this event would boost Ukraine's image abroad and increase tourism, while the country's new government hoped that it would also give a modest boost to the long-term goal of acquiring European Union membership.
The winner for 2005 was Greece with the song "My Number One" performed by Helena Paparizou, written by Christos Dantis and Natalia Germanou, both successful singer-songwriters in Greece. It scored 230 points, beating Malta into second place by a margin of 38 points. This was the first victory for Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest. Romania, Israel and Latvia rounded out the top five. The "Big Four" countries (France, Germany, Spain and United Kingdom) ended up as the "Last Four", all placing in the bottom four position of the scoreboard in the final.
The third edition of Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place on November 26, 2005 at the Ethias Arena. The hosts were Marcel Vanthilt and Maureen Louys. 16 participating countries entered the contest and 8.500 watched the show from the venue. Prince Laurent of Belgium also attended the show. The organizers used the moto 'Let's Get Loud' to describe their hosting of the contest. Russia and Serbia & Montenegro debut the contest while the Cypriot entry was forced to withdraw. Scratch - Irish Short Film (2006) Scratch was written back in November of 2005, and shooting began in early December and ran for 4 weeks with a break over the Christmas period. Jonathan shot the short on DV using the Canon XL1s with some homemade upgrades to increase the look of the film. The biggest problem when choosing to use DV is the looseness. We would have liked to have used a 35mm with 4.4.4 but because of budgetary reasons we opted for DV which has a 1.2.1 output. Using the lens of an SLR 35mm and a broken CD player we were able to get higher DOF which takes the video look away slightly, we also managed to build a matt box to control the amount of light that would be allowed into the lens which would, in post production, give us the ability to add a higher contrast to the film an...
Is there really a European Identity? Does the old continent has a past beyond his age? And this past, connects us or separates us? As we understand if we speak thirty-five different languages? This ''Two-Man'' show looks at these issues and, instead of responding to them, confronts the audience with more questions. In order to determine the europeanism, choose the biggest kitsch parade of the common cause: the European Festival Song Contest, Eurovision, where representatives of peoples of different cultures, languages, methods and standards of living, come together in a parade of tastelessness uniform. An ironic and spectacular performance that is multilingual and uses many elements of other branches of the arts. An object shaking like Europe, while small as a ''guilty pleasure''. The bou...

Melodi Grand Prix Junior (MGP jr.) is the Norwegian national final that selects the entry to represent Norway in the annual Melodi Grand Prix Nordic junior singing competition, a specialized Scandinavian competition for children and teenagers. Between 2003 and 2005, Norway sent its winners to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest (JESC), when MPG Nordic wasn't active. In 2006 Norway withdrew itself from JESC, along with Denmark and Sweden, to participate in Melodi Grand Prix Nordic instead. From 2010, Melodi Grand Prix Junior has ended with the national final.
