Yes, Pinterest can get in the way.

Jeff Leatham, florist to the stars and artistic director of the Four Season Hotel Georges V in Paris, tells Vogue how to choose the flowers for your wedding day.

Don’t let the internet cloud your vision

“I think with the internet, ideas can get clouded and confused. There are so many avenues of inspiration out there so I would like to tell brides to stick to their original vision. Brides will come in every two days with different ideas from Pinterest and I have to tell them to try and keep off their computer. Trust your designer to create a beautiful and magical experience.”

Stay in the season – and if you must, plan your wedding date accordingly

“Brides always have a favourite flower but sometimes peonies, certain types of hydrangeas or roses are not in season, so it’s important to be realistic. So many people think that any type of flower is available at any time and you know, that’s so wrong.”

Give your guests multiple floral experiences

“When I am designing a wedding, I always try to make sure every different aspect of the wedding is different so the ceremony is one colour story, the cocktail party is another and then the reception is different again. I think it’s important that there is a different experience for guests everywhere they go.”
