Alcohol

In chemistry, an alcohol is any organic compound in which the hydroxyl functional group (–OH) is bound to a saturated carbon atom. The term alcohol originally referred to the primary alcohol ethanol (ethyl alcohol), the predominant alcohol in alcoholic beverages.

The suffix -ol appears in the IUPAC chemical name of all substances where the hydroxyl group is the functional group with the highest priority; in substances where a higher priority group is present the prefix hydroxy- will appear in the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) name. The suffix -ol in non-systematic names (such as paracetamol or cholesterol) also typically indicates that the substance includes a hydroxyl functional group and, so, can be termed an alcohol. But many substances, particularly sugars (examples glucose and sucrose) contain hydroxyl functional groups without using the suffix. An important class of alcohols, of which methanol and ethanol are the simplest members is the saturated straight chain alcohols, the general formula for which is C_nH_2n+1OH.

Alcohol (Barenaked Ladies song)

"Alcohol" is a song by the Alternative rock group Barenaked Ladies released as the last single and sixth track on their 1998 album Stunt. Although it did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100 or the UK Singles Chart, it received some airplay on the US Modern Rock Tracks charts, peaking at #33 on the chart. The song looks at alcohol abuse, and moderation, using a sarcastic undertone. As part of the band's tradition involving one song per album, "Alcohol" was recorded naked.

Alcohol 120%

Alcohol 120% is an optical disc authoring program and disk image emulator created by Alcohol Soft.

Alcohol 120% can also mount disc images, with support for their proprietary Media Descriptor Image (.mds/.mdf) disc image format. It is capable of converting image files to the ISO format. Alcohol Soft has cited it will not be developing an image editor for Alcohol 120%.

The latest versions of Alcohol 120% contain the A.C.I.D. wizard. A.C.I.D., or "Alcohol Cloaking Initiative for DRM" (based originally on the Y.A.S.U. application), operates as an "SCSI-drive protector" which hides emulated drives from SecuROM 7 and SafeDisc 4.

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, known in Japan as Mario & Luigi RPG 2×2 (マリオ&ルイージRPG2×2, Mario ando Ruīji Aru Pī Jī Tsū bai Tsū), is a role-playing video game developed by AlphaDream and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS handheld game console in 2005. It is the second game in the Mario & Luigi series, and is the sequel to Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga for the Game Boy Advance. The game was followed by Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, released in 2009.

Although the sequel to Superstar Saga, the game's plot is unrelated to that of its predecessor with an emphasis on the time-traveling theme, which involves the protagonists traveling between the past and present of the Mushroom Kingdom. The adventure follows Mario, Luigi, Baby Mario, and Baby Luigi as they search for Princess Peach, who has been abducted by an alien species known as the Shroobs. The gameplay centers on the co-operation between the quartet, who must use their specific qualities and skills to solve puzzles to progress through and features multiple role-playing game elements, but with a turn-based battle system focused on timing accuracy. The game is considerably darker in tone than its predecessor, especially in its plot and themes.

Role-playing game

A role-playing game (RPG and sometimes roleplaying game) is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either through literal acting or through a process of structured decision-making or character development. Actions taken within many games succeed or fail according to a formal system of rules and guidelines.

There are several forms of RPG. The original form, sometimes called the tabletop RPG, is conducted through discussion, whereas in live action role-playing games (LARP) players physically perform their characters' actions. In both of these forms, an arranger called a game master (GM) usually decides on the rules and setting to be used and acts as referee, while each of the other players plays the role of a single character.

Several varieties of RPG also exist in electronic media, such as multi-player text-based MUDs and their graphics-based successors, massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs). Role-playing games also include single-player role-playing video games in which players control a character or team who undertake quests, and may include capabilities that advance using statistical mechanics. These games often share settings and rules with tabletop RPGs, but emphasize character advancement more than collaborative storytelling.

RPG-28

The RPG-28 Klyukva ("Cranberry") is a Russian handheld anti-tank rocket launcher.

History

The RPG-28 was unveiled in 2007 at IDEX Abu Dhabi by the State Research and Production Enterprise, Bazalt as a modern anti-tank rocket launcher designed to defeat modern and future tanks with advanced reactive and composite armour as well as fortified infantry. It was offered for export in 2008. Officially adopted by the Russian Government in December 2011.

Description

The RPG-28 shares a close resemblance with the RPG-27 in that it is a portable, disposable anti-tank rocket launcher with a single shot capacity. The RPG-28 has a larger diameter round than the RPG-27 which enables the RPG-28 to achieve higher armour penetration performance. The PG-28 round is a 125-mm tandem shaped charge with a weight of 12-kg and a range of 300 meters. The round has a stated penetration capability in excess of 1000-mm RHA (after ERA) and 3000 mm of brick. Loaded weight is 13.5-kg.

RMG variant

The RMG is a smaller, multipurpose variant of the RPG-28 that is optimized for defeating light vehicles and infantry in cover. As a result, its penetration performance against tank armor is reduced.
