Singer's latest go-around with the X's has the team feeling the perm as we pick up the First Class/Days of Future Past timeline in the 1980s. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence all return to be joined by newcomers Tye Sheridan, Olivia Munn, Kodi Smitt-McPhee and Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner. The titular villain is played by Oscar Isaac, so recently impressing himself upon the Star Wars universe in The Force Awakens.
Also starring Rose Byrne, Alexandra Shipp, Evan Peters, Lana Condor, Lucas Till, Nicholas Hoult and Josh Helman. This film continues the timeline set down by X-Men First Class and X-Men Days of Future Past.
The film is released in the UK on the 18th of May, and in the US on the 27th.

Thanks to IMAX and Fox, last week I got to do something incredibly cool: I moderated a Q&A; with director Tim Miller, producer Simon Kinberg, and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld following our special screening at IMAX HQ.
As I have said many times, I absolutely loved Deadpool and think everyone involved deserves a round of applause for getting the tone, rating, action, and characters right. All too often studios play it safe when it comes to adult material, but that didn’t happen with Deadpool. Fox deserves a huge amount of credit for making a hard R superhero movie and not shying away from everything that makes Deadpool great. While Hollywood can be obsessed with franchises and sequels even when they’re not needed, this is one of those properties I can’t wait to see more of, and I hope after Deadpool 2 we finally get to see an X-Force movie!
During the post screening Q&A; Miller, Kinberg and Liefeld talked about IMAX, the film’s budget, the rating, the tone, Stan Lee’s reaction to watching the film, why some of T.J. Miller’s jokes had to be taken out, the state of superhero movies, how there is no director’s cut of the film but there are deleted scenes, including more from the workshop fight, what other Fox superhero movies could have an R rating, and so much more.

Simon Kinberg
Simon David Kinberg (born August 2, 1973) is an British-born American screenwriter and film producer. He is best known for his work in the X-Men film franchise, and wrote and/or produced several other box-office successes such as Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Sherlock Holmes, Cinderella, and The Martian, earning an Academy Award nomination for the latter. His production company is Genre Films (usually credited as Kinberg Genre), which has a first-look deal with 20th Century Fox.
Early life
Kinberg was born in London, England, the son of Monica Menell-Kinberg and Jud Kinberg, a New York City-born writer and producer. His father's first wife was French actress Suzanne Dalbert. From age six, he was raised in Los Angeles, California. He is Jewish. He has a brother, Robert, and a half-brother, Steven. Simon Kinberg graduated from Brentwood High School, and then from Brown University, Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude; in 2003 received his MFA from Columbia University School of the Arts, where he won the Zaki Gordon Fellowship for Screenwriting.

Thanks to IMAX and Fox, last week I got to do something incredibly cool: I moderated a Q&A; with director Tim Miller, producer Simon Kinberg, and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld following our special screening at IMAX HQ. As I have said many times, I absolutely loved Deadpool and think everyone involved deserves a round of applause for getting the tone, rating, action, and characters right. All too often studios play it safe when it comes to adult material, but that didn’t happen with Deadpool. Fox deserves a huge amount of credit for making a hard R superhero movie and not shying away from everything that makes Deadpool great. While Hollywood can be obsessed with franchises and sequels even when they’re not needed, this is one of those properties I can’t wait to see more of, and I hope after Deadpool 2 we finally get to see an X-Force movie! During the post screening Q&A; Miller, Kinberg and Liefeld talked about IMAX, the film’s budget, the rating, the tone, Stan Lee’s reaction to watching the film, why some of T.J. Miller’s jokes had to be taken out, the state of superhero movies, how there is no director’s cut of the film but there are deleted scenes, including more from the workshop fight, what other Fox superhero movies could have an R rating, and so much more. Thanks to IMAX and Fox, last week I got to do something incredibly cool: I moderated a Q&A; with director Tim Miller, producer Simon Kinberg, and Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld following our special screening at IMAX HQ.
As I have said many times, I absolutely loved Deadpool and think everyone involved deserves a round of applause for getting the tone, rating, action, and characters right. All too often studios play it safe when it comes to adult material, but that didn’t happen with Deadpool. Fox deserves a huge amount of credit for making a hard R superhero movie and not shying away from everything that makes Deadpool great. While Hollywood can be obsessed with franchises and sequels even when they’re not needed, this is one of those properties I can’t wait to see more of, and I hope after Deadpool 2 we finally get to see an X-Force movie!
During the post screening Q&A; Miller, Kinberg and Liefeld talked about IMAX, the film’s budget, the rating, the tone, Stan Lee’s reaction to watching the film, why some of T.J. Miller’s jokes had to be taken out, the state of superhero movies, how there is no director’s cut of the film but there are deleted scenes, including more from the workshop fight, what other Fox superhero movies could have an R rating, and so much more.

During a Television Critics Association panel this week, Deadpool producer Simon Kinberg was asked what sort of angle the hit movie's sequel will take. While he didn’t reveal any information about the plot, Kinberg did provide some insight as to how Deadpool will handle a second outing on the big screen. Kinberg explained, "I think Deadpool 2 will comment on anything that’s happening in movies today especially in superhero movies. X-Men: Days of Future Past was a big movie in the X-Men franchise not only because it brought together both the original and new cast, and not only because it marked X-Men and X2 director Bryan Singer’s return to the series, but also because, well, it reset the entire timeline and erased the events of X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand from existence. This offered Singer and writer/producer Simon Kinberg the opportunity to continue making more X-Men movies set in the past while keeping the fate of the characters up in the air. So while X-Men: Apocalypse takes place in 1983, the story and characters aren’t necessarily moving towards the end-goal of where the characters are in 2000’s X-Men. But that’s not to say they can’t end up in the same place as before.
Confused? Indeed, any time you’re dealing with time-travel, complicated hypotheticals ensue, but the X-Men franchise is doubly tricky given the sheer amount of characters and history involved with the series. So when I visited the set of X-Men: Apocalypse last summer along with a small group of reporters, we asked Singer and Kinberg to clarify the timeline of the franchise going forward. Kinberg kicked things off by explaining exactly how Days of Future Past alters the events of X-Men, X2, and X-Men: The Last Stand:
“It’s not leading necessarily toward exactly where we found Patrick Stewart and the X-Men at the beginning of X-Men 1. There are some things that lead in that general direction, that was part of the philosophy we had at the end of Days of Future Past is that you can’t fully change the course or current of the river, but you can just divert it a little bit, and we diverted it a little bit. So some things will be surprises; people could die that were alive in X-Men 1, 2 and 3, or people could survive that died during 1, 2 and 3.”
