Doug Sahm -1995 Douglas Wayne Sahm was born November 6, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas. Considered to be a prodigy on steel-guitar, mandolin, and fiddle, he made his radio debut at age five singing "Teardrops In My Heart" on station KMAC in San Antonio. This was followed by two years of radio appearances on the Mutual network. He became a featured player on the Louisiana Hayride country radio program by age eight. Known as Little Doug Sahm, he would often sit in at live performances of such greats as Webb Pierce, Hank Thompson and Faron Young. In December, 1952, Hank Williams took Doug on stage in Austin, Texas, less than two weeks before Williams's death.
About his pre-teen days, Doug wrote, "Across a plowed field from my house was a place called Eastwood Country Club. On any given night you had T-Bone Walker, Junior Parker, The Bobby 'Blue' Bland Review, Hank Ballard and James Brown... At about twelve or thirteen years old, my neighbor, Homer Callahan, a red-headed Irishman who loved to fight and listen to Howlin' Wolf, would bring over these great 45's with colorful labels like Excello, Atlantic, and Specialty, and dudes like Lonesome Sundown, Jimmy Reed, and Fats Domino. My mother, bless her soul, couldn't understand the profound effect these records had on her white son who was growing up fast in the predominantly black section of San Antone... Bear in mind, these weren't ghettos with crime filled streets, but for a white boy to be accepted at The Ebony Lounge was like being signed to the New York Yankees."

THE RAINS OF RANCHIPUR is the second version of Louis Bromfield's novel to be adapted for the big screen. The first version, 1939's The Rains Came, bore the title of his book, but it was the latter 1955 version, produced by Twentieth Century Fox and directed by Jean Negulesco, that received the big-budget treatment. The star-studded film stars Lana Turner (Lady Edwina Esketh) as a spoiled wife of British royalty. Under the invitation of the Maharani (Eugene Leontovich), the couple travel to purchase horses in India, where the bored housewife proceeds to fall for Richard Burton's Dr. Safti. Despite his shunning her initial advances, the two begin an illicit affair. It is an affair that is complicated, or perhaps symbolized, by a series of disasters by Mother Nature, complete with earthquakes and a devastating flood. A cinematic coup, the movie was nominated and won an Academy Award® for Best Visual Effects.

The Rains Came
The Rains Came is a 1939 20th Century Fox film based on an American novel by Louis Bromfield (published in June 1937 by Harper & Brothers).
A remake of the film was released in 1955 under the name The Rains of Ranchipur.
The film was directed by Clarence Brown and stars Tyrone Power, Myrna Loy, George Brent, Brenda Joyce, Nigel Bruce, and Maria Ouspenskaya.
Plot
The story centers on the redemption of its lead female character. George Brent is Tom Ransome, an artist who leads a rather dissolute if socially active life in the town of Ranchipur. His routine is shattered with the arrival of his former lover, Lady Edwina Esketh (Myrna Loy) who has since married the elderly Lord Esketh (Nigel Bruce). Lady Edwina first sets out to seduce, then gradually falls in love with, Major Rama Safti (Tyrone Power) who represents the "new India."
Ranchipur is devastated by an earthquake, which causes a flood, which causes a cholera epidemic. Lord Esketh dies and Lady Esketh renounces her hedonistic life in favor of helping the sick alongside Major Safti. Unfortunately, she becomes infected and dies, making it possible for Safti to become the ruler of a kingdom that he will presumably reform. In the course of the story, a missionary's daughter, Fern Simon (Brenda Joyce), and Ransome also fall in love.

Doug Sahm
Douglas Wayne Sahm (November 6, 1941 – November 18, 1999) was an American musician from Texas. Born in San Antonio, Texas, he was a child prodigy in country music but became a significant figure in roots rock and other genres. Sahm is considered one of the most important figures in what is identified as Tex-Mex music. He was the founder and leader of the 1960s rock and roll band, the Sir Douglas Quintet. He would later co-found the Texas Tornados with Augie Meyers, Freddy Fender, and Flaco Jiménez as well as Los Super Seven.
Sahm was proficient on multiple musical instruments and was a lifelong baseball fan.
Country prodigy: 1940s and 1950s
Sahm began his musical career singing and playing steel guitar, mandolin and violin. He made his radio debut at the age of five. He released his first record "A Real American Joe" at age eleven. On December 19, 1952, at the age of eleven, he played on stage with Hank Williams Sr. at the Skyline Club in Austin, Texas. It was Hank Williams's very last performance. Williams died on New Year's Day of 1953, on the road to his next show, in Canton, Ohio. Sahm was offered a permanent spot on the Grand Ole Opry at age thirteen, but his mother wanted him to finish junior high.

Doug Sahm -1995 Douglas Wayne Sahm was born November 6, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas. Considered to be a prodigy on steel-guitar, mandolin, and fiddle, he made his radio debut at age five singing "Teardrops In My Heart" on station KMAC in San Antonio. This was followed by two years of radio appearances on the Mutual network. He became a featured player on the Louisiana Hayride country radio program by age eight. Known as Little Doug Sahm, he would often sit in at live performances of such greats as Webb Pierce, Hank Thompson and Faron Young. In December, 1952, Hank Williams took Doug on stage in Austin, Texas, less than two weeks before Williams's death.
About his pre-teen days, Doug wrote, "Across a plowed field from my house was a place called Eastwood Country Club. On any given night you had T-Bone Walker, Junior Parker, The Bobby 'Blue' Bland Review, Hank Ballard and James Brown... The star-studded film stars Lana Turner (Lady Edwina Esketh) as a spoiled wife of British royalty. Despite his shunning her initial advances, the two begin an illicit affair. It is an affair that is complicated, or perhaps symbolized, by a series of disasters by Mother Nature, complete with earthquakes and a devastating flood. In the ‘60s a major discovery was made from soundings of seafloor depth using doppler radar from ships plying the oceans of the world. A 40-thousand milelong mountain chain was found on the bottom of the ocean extending around the globe like a seam on a baseball. It was apparently formed from hot magma being extruded from the earth’s crust into the ocean, cooling, and hardening into solid rock.
Based on this evidence the Plate Tectonics Theory was developed. It is now routinely taught in almost all graduate programs in geology. The theory argues that the crust of the earth is composed of numerous plates separated by cracks through which the magna flowed onto the ocean floor. These plates are measuredto be moving slowly across the planet at about the rate of centimeters per year—the approximate rate at which fingernails grow. Along and either side of the cracks between the plates most of our active geology is currently occurring, for example, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and mountain building.
Conventional geologic earth history is built around the conventional plate tectonic theory including the millions of years necessary for evolution to occur. However, in 1994 a new model of earth history called Catastrophic Plate Tectonics was introduced to the young earth creationist community by Steve Austin, John Baumgardner, Andrew Snelling, Larry Vardiman, and Kurt Wise. It has the advantage of explaining the current and historical observations of earth motions and topography in a young-earth time frame and is consistent with the biblical account of the Genesis Flood. In addition, the heat released by the magma into the oceans provides an excellent explanation for the cause of the ice age.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Vardiman retired from the Institute for Creation Research in 2012 after 30 years of research, writing, teaching, and speaking on creation. Prior to his full-time ministry in creation science he conducted 15 years of field research in cloud physics and weather modification for the U.S. Department of Interior, the U.S. Air Force, and Colorado State University. He obtained his B.S. in Physics from the University of Missouri at Rolla, a B.S. in Meteorology from St. Louis University, and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science from Colorado State University. He has written over 30 technical articles, 10 books, and many conference papers. He was Director and Editor of the RATE Project, a study on Radioisotopes and the Age of the Earth. For the past 10 years he has been conducting numerical simulations of climate and weather during the ice age. He used conventional research models and data supplied by NASA and NOAA to study storms enhanced by warm oceans heated through catastrophic events of the Genesis Flood. He continues to conduct limited research, writing, and speaking in the Northwest. Dr. Vardiman lives on Camano Island, Washington, is married to Jeannette, a registered nurse, has 4 children, and 6 grandchildren.

Tragedy continued to descend upon Gorakhpur's Baba Raghav Das Medical College hospital, as another child succumbed to encephalitis on Sunday, taking the death toll over 70. 11 children died on Saturday and until Friday the death toll stood at 60. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday said that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered and a committee has been formed to look into the Gorakhpur tragedy....
