Dick DeBartolo (born October 19, 1945) is an American writer and model railway enthusiast, most famous for writing for Mad. He is occasionally referred to as "Mad's Maddest Writer," this being a twist on Don Martin's former status as "Mad's Maddest Artist." DeBartolo served as the magazine's "Creative Consultant" from 1984 to 2009.
Mad has long spaced out DeBartolo's articles to ensure that at least one appears in every issue. As of his byline in issue #502 in 2009, new DeBartolo material has appeared in 400 consecutive issues, dating back to 1966. This is the longest such streak, surpassing runner-up Sergio Aragonés by nine issues. (Aragonés would be 25 issues ahead of DeBartolo's run if not for a single missed issue, #111. Al Jaffee would also be 16 issues ahead of DeBartolo, had he appeared in issue #360. Other than these three, only Dave Berg (whose streak was halted by his death) appeared in as many as 300 consecutive issues.) DeBartolo has written well over 250 television or film parodies for the magazine, easily the most by any Mad writer.
Match Game is an American television panel game show that premiered on NBC in 1962 and was revived several times over the course of the next few decades. The game featured contestants trying to come up with answers to fill-in-the-blank questions, with the object being to match answers given by celebrity panelists.
The original Match Game ran on NBC until 1969. The show returned with a significantly changed format in 1973 on CBS and became a hit due to the looser nature of the questions. The CBS series, which was referred to on air as Match Game '73 to start and changed every new year, ran until 1979 and spawned two separate series for local syndication. The first, called Match Game PM, premiered in 1975 and ran weekly until 1981. The second, simply titled Match Game, premiered in 1979 and aired daily until 1982.
Match Game returned to NBC in 1983 as part of a sixty-minute hybrid series with Hollywood Squares, then saw a daytime run on ABC in 1990 and another for syndication in 1998.
Mad is an American humor magazine founded in 1952 by editor Harvey Kurtzman and publisher William Gaines, launched as a comic book before it became a magazine. It was widely imitated and influential, affecting satirical media as well as the cultural landscape of the 20th century, with editor Al Feldstein increasing readership to more than two million during its 1974 circulation peak. As of July 6, 2015, Mad had published a total of 537 issues.
The magazine is the last surviving title from the EC Comics line, offering satire on all aspects of life and popular culture, politics, entertainment, and public figures. Its format is divided into a number of recurring segments such as TV and movie parodies, as well as freeform articles. Mad's mascot, Alfred E. Neuman, is typically the focal point of the magazine's cover, with his face often replacing that of a celebrity or character who is lampooned within the issue.
Mad began as a comic book published by EC, debuting in August 1952 (cover date October–November), and located in lower Manhattan at 225 Lafayette Street. In the early 1960s, the Mad office moved to 485 Madison Avenue, a location given in the magazine as "485 MADison Avenue". The title is trademarked in capitals as MAD.
Gene Rayburn (December 22, 1917 – November 29, 1999) was an American radio and television personality. He is best known as the host of various editions of the popular American television game show Match Game for over two decades.
Born Eugene Jelyevich in Christopher, Illinois, he was the only child of Croatian immigrants. Rayburn's father died when he was an infant and his mother moved to Chicago, where she met Milan Rubessa. After she married Rubessa, Rayburn took the name Eugene Rubessa /ruːˈbeɪʃə/. Rayburn graduated from Lindblom Technical High School and later from Knox College. While a student at Lindblom, he was senior class president and acted in the plays Robert of Sicily, and Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch.
Rayburn was married to Helen Ticknor from 1940 until her death in October 1996. They had one child, a daughter, Lynne. After Lynne's birth, Rayburn enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served in World War II.
Gene chose the stage name "Rayburn" by randomly sticking his finger in the phone book.

Back in late 60's Gene Rayburn was asked to host The Tonight Show for a week while Johnny Carson was away on vacation. Since Gene and I were working together on The Match Game and having a lot of fun, he asked me to come up with something silly we could do on The Tonight Show. This is it. (I have to thank Chelsea Thrasher for finding this clip. She works in TV and was helping a friend do some research on Gene Rayburn. When this clip surfaced she contacted me to ask if I wanted a copy. Boy, did I!!! I had a kinescope copy made back in the late 60's when Gene & I did this, but no one's has been able to digitize it. So THANK YOU, Chelsea!
