The Nigerian militant group, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) has announced a ceasefire and readiness to engage in talks with the Nigerian government.

(CNN)A German man has been beheaded by Abu Sayyaf militants in the southern Philippines after a deadline to pay his ransom passed, the Philippine government has said. A video posted by the Philippines-based Islamist extremist group Abu Sayyaf and distributed by SITE Intelligence Group identifies the man as Jurgen Kantner, who has been held captive since November. Abu Sayyaf announced in November last year that they had kidnapped Kantner and his partner in the waters off Malaysia's Sabah state, according to Philippine officials. Turn on the Bright Lights
Turn On the Bright Lights is the debut studio album by the American rock band Interpol, released in August 2002. The album was recorded in November 2001 at Tarquin Studios in Connecticut, and was co-produced, mixed and engineered by Peter Katis and Gareth Jones. It was released on August 19, 2002 in the United Kingdom and August 20 in the United States, through independent record label Matador Records. Upon release, the record peaked at number 101 on the UK Albums Chart. It reached number 158 on the Billboard 200 in the United States, as well as spending 73 weeks in the Billboard Independent Albums, peaking at number five.
"PDA", "NYC", "Obstacle 1" and "Say Hello to the Angels" were the singles from Turn On the Bright Lights, and a video was shot for each with the exception of "Say Hello to the Angels".
The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on August 29, 2011 for shipments of 500,000 copies.
A remastered version of the album was released in 2012 to commemorate its tenth anniversary. It featured additional material including demo recordings of several tracks, the bonus songs previously available on international releases and a DVD of live performances and music videos.

Militant Group
The Militant Group was an early British Trotskyist group, formed in 1935 by Denzil Dean Harber, former leader of the Marxist Group, as an entrist group inside the Labour Party.
Over the next couple of years, the group was strengthened by an influx of South African Trotskyists, including Ted Grant and Ralph Lee. However, rumours concerning the activity of Lee prompted around ten members, including Grant, Lee, Jock Haston and Gerry Healy to split in 1937 and form the Workers International League.
In 1938, the Militant Group merged with the Revolutionary Socialist League, Revolutionary Socialist Party and the Marxist Group to form a new Revolutionary Socialist League, the official section of the Fourth International in Britain.

German Hostage Reportedly Beheaded By Militant Group In Philippines
(CNN)A German man has been beheaded by Abu Sayyaf militants in the southern Philippines after a deadline to pay his ransom passed, the Philippine government has said. A video posted by the Philippines-based Islamist extremist group Abu Sayyaf and distributed by SITE Intelligence Group identifies the man as Jurgen Kantner, who has been held captive since November. Abu Sayyaf announced in November last year that they had kidnapped Kantner and his partner in the waters off Malaysia's Sabah state, according to Philippine officials. Most journeys begin at Penn Station or Grand Central, and if you arrive at the later you'll be wowed by the building. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town.
You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface.
And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Nearby the Roman Catholic Saint Patrick´s Cathedral is the largest and most magnificent church in the United States. The Grand Central Terminal divides Park Avenue and is a huge station with which the railroad kings, the Venderbilts, left an indelible mark. The huge hall, with its magnificent vaulted ceiling in Beaux Arts style, has been the city’s central railway station for twelve lines since 1913. The confines of Chinatown are inhabited by a hundred and fifty thousand Chinese from China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, most of whom are unable to speak a word of English. Chinese characters wherever one looks and restaurants and Asian stores on every street corner. The famous Wall Street was named after a wall which in the early days protected the growing city against attack by Native American Indians. However, the roots of its subsequent claim to fame were laid in 1792. The young state desperately needed investment and therefore the powers that be decided to issue bonds. Close by, on a small island, is New York’s most famous landmark, the Statue Of Liberty. The head of Lady Liberty leads to the crown from which there are stunning views from several windows. New York City is most certainly unique. A city that’s very much alive and kicking, self-confident and always a surprise!

Here are some Things to do in NYC :) This 1st of a "Things to do in NYC" is the BASICS. I will do more in depth videos on neighborhoods like Harlem, Brooklyn, Lower East Side which will include shopping, entertainment, eating, all that :) But for now I hope you find this helpful and excited about exploring NYC. I didn't "forget" to list anything. This is just the first video and trust their are a million things to do. Sorry for not including Brooklyn. I rarely go out there and didn't have footage to include in this video. But here goes!

Summer in NYC isn't really summer until you get your butt on a rooftop. My pick was Jimmy Rooftop. Sunday's after 3pm are bomb! Amazing music courtesy of DJ Cato. I believe it is doorman discretion, which means, dress your best and don't travel with a bunch of dudes. You get an amazing view of the sun setting over the Hudson River and you get to splash around in the pool if you so choose. I chose this spot because I used to work here and loved it!

Yes! Go to Church! After you party it up Saturday night or Sunday afternoon bring your sinful behind to this awesome church! You don't have to be religious to attend. This is a non-denominal church and people from all over the world come here for the amazing sermons and not to mention the interior. This Church is a converted theatre and a must see. Now go and pray!

Battle for Marawi Civilians suffer while army battles ISIS militants in Philippines
On May 23, 2017 two militant groups, Maute and Abu Sayaf, took the city of Marawi. Aby Sayyaf has been terrorizing the Philippines for 20 years. It was joined by another local group, founded by the Maute brothers, in 2012. They are both determined to fight for an independent Islamic state in the Philippines. The attack by Maute and its allies on the island of Mindanao is the biggest warning yet that ISIS (also known as Islamic State) is building a base in Southeast Asia. The Philippines government has introduced martial law in Mindanao province. Officials were convinced they would recapture the city within weeks. But the counter-terror operation against ISIS fighters has now been on-going for three months. In an effort to oust the terrorists from the city, the Army deployed 3,000 troops....

The attack by Maute and its allies on the island of Mindanao is the biggest warning yet that ISIS (also known as Islamic State) is building a base in Southeast Asia.
The Philippines government has introduced martial law in Mindanao province. Officials were convinced they would recapture the city within weeks. But the counter-terror operation against ISIS fighters has now been on-going for three months. In an effort to oust the terrorists from the city, the Army deployed 3,000 troops. So far, 122 soldiers and 528 militants have been killed, according to the Philippine Army.
An RTD Documentary team spent a week in the city and witnessed scenes similar to the sieges of Aleppo in Syria and Iraq's Mosul, eventualities until now unknown in Southeast Asia. All roads to Marawi are closed. Heavily armed policemen and soldiers search everyone entering the city.
Our crew joined Philippine’s soldiers and rescue teams during raids across the city. Soldiers battle ISIS-linked gunmen on the streets and search for arms caches, while rescue teams inspect abandoned apartments looking for trapped civillians. Many survivors have endured a week without tap water and electricity.

On May 23, 2017 two militant groups, Maute and Abu Sayaf, took the city of Marawi. Aby Sayyaf has been terrorizing the Philippines for 20 years. It was joined by another local group, founded by the Maute brothers, in 2012. They are both determined to fight for an independent Islamic state in the Philippines. Norman Olson is the founder of the Michigan Militia, the most famous/notorious/we-think-maybe-oldest? group of the early-90s citizens' militia movement. If you're too young to remember, that was this thing where guys in camouflage got together to train with their guns and guys with cameras pretended they were scary and racist. The movement hit a speed bump when it got blamed for the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995, and Norm Olson didn't do much good for his own group when he tried to pass the blame to the Japanese—an idea which, if you subscribe to certain theories concerning the earlier sarin-gas attack on the Tokyo subway and the responsible doomsday cult's alleged connections to the Japanese Imperial Family, makes a limited sort of sense, but otherwise sounds like the craziest of all possible answers. With faith already shaken in his leadership, Norm then hitched the Militia's wagon to fears over that Y2K thing and by February 2000 the group was essentially defunct. However, as you may have heard from the Southern Poverty Law Center or one of the hundreds of press outlets who reprinted their press release as a "story," right-wing militia activity is back on the upswing. And never one to look a media jizz-rush in the mouth, Norm and his old compatriot Ray Southwell are using the momentum to try and get a new militia started on Alaska's Kenai peninsula. So far it's been going kind of rough, but that didn't stop Norm and Ray from inviting us in for coffee and a quick flip through his big, yarn-bound book of Militia Mem'ries. Come join us, as we televize the nostalgialution...

VICE News traveled to Nigeria to embed with the country's army as it ramped up its fight against Boko Haram, whose rise has caused a state of emergency. As the only journalists on the front line in northern Nigeria, we witnessed the beginning of the largest military insurgency to date.

The Islamic State, a hardline Sunni jihadist group that formerly had ties to al Qaeda, has conquered large swathes of Iraq and Syria. Previously known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the group has announced its intention to reestablish the caliphate and has declared its leader, the shadowy Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, as the caliph.
The lightning advances the Islamic State made across Syria and Iraq in June shocked the world. But it's not just the group's military victories that have garnered attention — it's also the pace with which its members have begun to carve out a viable state.
Flush with cash and US weapons seized during its advances in Iraq, the Islamic State's expansion shows no sign of slowing down. In the first week of August alone, Islamic State fighters have taken over new areas in northern Iraq, encroaching on Kurdish territory and sending Christians and other minorities fleeing as reports of massacres emerged.
VICE News reporter Medyan Dairieh spent three weeks embedded with the Islamic State, gaining unprecedented access to the group in Iraq and Syria as the first and only journalist to document its inner workings.

Ever since its lightning advance across Syria and Iraq two years ago, the world has become all too familiar with the jihadist militant group ISIS. Their grisly beheadings and destruction of ancient sites gained them not only international condemnation, but, unfortunately, many followers. While at first ISIS may have been seen as a "local" problem, the recent terrorist attacks it inspired in Brussels, Paris, Egypt, Jakarta, Africa, Istanbul and the U.S. have made it the top concern of many world leaders. Though increased military intervention by the U.S., Iraq, France, Russia and others have slowed ISIS' advance, the group remains a potent terrorist threat. But they aren't the only one. Al Qaeda remains strong in parts of the globe, Boko Haram in Africa, the Taliban in Asia. Homegrown terrorists who aren't formally affiliated with a group, but sympathize with a cause, also pose a serious threat. The question is: how can ISIS and other terrorists be defeated? Without more "boots on the ground," who will force their hand? What are the best strategies to win this war?
