Medium format lenses have the special ability of using leaf shutter capabilities. In this video, I discuss the differences between a 35mm DSLR camera lens that relies on a focal plane shutter vs a leaf shutter lens. I demo a PhaseOne 645DF, and IQ 140 digital back, and a Schneider-Kreuznach 55mm LS and Schneider-Kreuznach 80mm LS lenses and show how the leaf shutter moves in comparison to a Nikon DSLR 60mm macro lens. I also discuss the advantages of using a lea shutter lens with includes the ability to synchronize a flash at 1/1600th second as opposed to 1/125th with a focal plane shutter. As a result, users can have better control of depth of field and ability to vary flash ratios when working with ambient lighting conditions.

Medium format lenses have the special ability of using leaf shutter capabilities. In this video, I discuss the differences between a 35mm DSLR camera lens that relies on a focal plane shutter vs a leaf shutter lens. I demo a PhaseOne 645DF, and IQ 140 digital back, and a Schneider-Kreuznach 55mm LS and Schneider-Kreuznach 80mm LS lenses and show how the leaf shutter moves in comparison to a Nikon DSLR 60mm macro lens. I also discuss the advantages of using a lea shutter lens with includes the ability to synchronize a flash at 1/1600th second as opposed to 1/125th with a focal plane shutter. As a result, users can have better control of depth of field and ability to vary flash ratios when working with ambient lighting conditions.

Arena Training in Oschersleben, 04.07.2016, Turns 3 und 4 Dieses Mal mit PiP (Picture in Picture) und anderen Positionen. Leider lief das alles nicht optimal, die Kameras machten beim Erreichen der 4-GB-Grenze eine kurze Aufnahmepause, was dafür sorgt, dass das Datenoverlay nicht 100%ig synchron ist und eine kurze Lücke entstanden ist. Vermutlich ein Bug, der Hersteller ist informiert. Außerdem verschob sich die Position der Kamera im Inneren während der Fahrt kräftebedingt ein wenig. Trotzdem wollte ich das Ergebnis hochladen. Aufgenommen mit zwei GitUp Git2, befestigt über Saugnäpfe an der Scheibeninnenseite und an der Stoßstange am Heck. Tonabnahme über Stereo-Mini-USB-Mikrofone, die direkt an der Kamera montiert waren. Daher auch das Knacksen im Innenraum, da muss ich wohl noch üben... -

If you’ve been listening to TWIP over the years you probably know how we feel about the relatively slow pace of innovation in the “mirrored” camera space… also known as the DSLR.
To reiterate, I personally LOVE Canon and Nikon, and I still own a bunch of Nikon gear, including many lenses and strobes. But now I primarily shoot Panasonic Lumix gear. Part of the reasoning is that the innovations and tools mirrorless technology gives me, “fits” better with the kind of media creation (stills, video, etc) that I enjoy.
Enter Pentax — a company that Ricoh acquired back in 2011 for $124 million dollars, has announced a brand new DSLR, with many features not found on any “mainstream” camera (mirrored, or mirrorless!).
Also Canon has refreshed its DSLR line-up with the 80D, as well as new glass and some accessories squarely aimed at video creation.
In this episode, Shiv Verma and Tim Engle join me to discuss these latest entrants into the DSLR space. Shiv shoots Lumix mirrorless, and Tim shoots Nikon DSLR. Their contrasting (and occasionally synchronous) opinions on the topic are very thought provoking.
