Parekura Tureia Horomia (born 9 November 1950) is a New Zealand Labour Party past Minister of Māori Affairs

Horomia was born in Tolaga Bay of Ngati Porou, Te Aitanga Hauiti, Ngati Kahungunu and Ngai Tahu descent.

He initially worked as a manual labourer, then as a printer in the newspaper industry. Later Horomia became involved in the Department of Labour's East Coast work schemes and was appointed to supervisory positions—rising to general manager of the Community Employment Group by 1992.

At the same time, he began to take on a number of prominent positions with Māori community organisations.

In the 1999 elections, Horomia stood as the Labour Party candidate for the Ikaroa-Rawhiti electorate (a Māori electorate). He defeated Derek Fox, a prominent figure in Māori politics who was standing as an independent candidate.

In the new Labour government formed after that election, Horomia became a minister outside cabinet, being Associate Minister of Māori Affairs, Associate Minister for Economic Development, Associate Minister of Employment, and Associate Minister of Education. In 2000, Dover Samuels was forced to step down as Minister of Māori Affairs after criminal allegations were made against him, and Horomia was appointed in his place. Although Samuels was cleared, it was decided that Horomia would retain the Māori Affairs portfolio.

Rahui Katene is a New Zealand politician. She was elected to the 49th New Zealand Parliament at the 2008 general election representing the Māori Party in the seat of Te Tai Tonga, but lost in the 2011 general election to Labour's Rino Tirikatene.

Katene (née Hippolite) is of Ngati Koata, Ngati Kuia, Ngati Toa and Kai Tahu descent.

Katene formerly worked as a lawyer, and previously worked at Te Ratonga Ture / Māori Legal Services.

Katene is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Prior to the 2008 general election, Katene initially missed out on the Māori Party candidacy for Te Tai Tonga to Monte Ohia. However Rahui became the candidate following Ohia's death.

She defeated incumbent Labour MP Mahara Okeroa with an election night majority of 684.

In 2009 her Te Rā o Matariki Bill/Matariki Day Bill, which would have made Matariki a public holiday, was drawn from the member's ballot. The bill was defeated at its first reading.

In 2010, her member's bill to remove Goods and Services Tax from healthy food was drawn from the member's ballot. The bill was defeated at its first reading.

Dr Kennedy Gollan Montrose Graham (born 1946) is a New Zealand politician and MP for the Green Party. He has served in the New Zealand Foreign Service for sixteen years, and lectured at the University of Canterbury and Victoria University of Wellington.

He is the brother of Doug Graham, a former National Party MP.

Graham has a BCom from the University of Auckland, a MA in International Relations from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, and a PhD from Victoria University of Wellington. He received Fulbright and Fletcher scholarships, and a McCarthy Fellowship in 1986.

As a New Zealand diplomat, Graham was involved in the negotiation of the South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone. He worked as Secretary-General of Parliamentarians for Global Action. He has worked at the United Nations, first as a director at the United Nations University from 1999 to 2004, and later as Senior Consultant in the Department of Political Affairs, from 2005 to 2006. In 2007 he became Adjunct Senior Fellow at the University of Canterbury School of Law, and was a Senior Lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington. Graham was also a Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Belgium.

Louise Upston (born c 1971) is a National Party Member of Parliament, representing Taupō since November 2008.

Upston was elected to Parliament at the 2008 general election.

She received small notability in the media for comments made in her Maiden Statement to the House of Representatives, such as her slogan approach to crime:

"The police are good. The criminals are bad. It's that simple."

After unseating Mark Burton, a Labour cabinet minister, she increased her majority by more than double to 14,115. This made Taupō one of the safest seats in the country. Upston was appointed to Junior Whip for the National Government.
