The Judds were an American country music duo composed of Naomi Judd and her daughter, Wynonna Judd (born in 1964). Signed to RCA Records in 1983, the duo released six studio albums between then and 1991. One of the most successful acts in country music history, The Judds won five Grammy Awards for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, and eight Country Music Association awards. The duo also charted twenty-five singles on the country music charts between 1983 and 2000, fourteen of which went to Number One and six more of which made Top Ten on the same chart.
The Judds ended their performance association in 1991 after Naomi was diagnosed with Hepatitis, later on specified as type C. Shortly after, Wynonna began her solo career. The two have occasionally reunited for special tours, the most recent of which began in late 2010.
In 2011, the duo starred in the reality television series The Judds during their Last Encore Tour.
Naomi Judd was born Diana Ellen Judd on January 11, 1946, in Ashland, Kentucky. She played piano at her local church. At age 17, she married Michael Ciminella, with whom she had Christina Ciminella, who would later be renamed Wynonna Judd. After Diana's parents divorced, she and her daughter moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1968, and lived on welfare after she and Michael divorced in 1972. By 1979, Diana and her daughter moved back to Tennessee. Diana renamed herself Naomi and began playing music with her daughter, who sang lead and played guitar. At the same time, Naomi began studying to be a nurse.
Grandparents are the parents of a person's father or mother – paternal or maternal. Every sexually-reproducing creature who is not a genetic chimera has a maximum of four genetic grandparents, eight genetic great-grandparents, sixteen genetic great-great-grandparents, etc., although the numbers will be lower in cases of pedigree collapse. In the history of modern humanity, around 30,000 years ago, the number of modern humans who lived to be grandparents increased exponentially. It is not known for certain what spurred this increase in longevity, but it is generally believed that a key consequence of three generations being alive together was the preservation of information which could otherwise have been lost; an example of this important information might have been where to find water in times of drought.
In cases where parents are unwilling or unable to provide adequate care for their children (e.g., death of the parents), grandparents often take on the role of primary caregivers. Even when this is not the case, and particularly in traditional cultures, grandparents often have a direct and clear role in relation to the raising, care and nurture of children. Grandparents are second-degree relatives and share 25% genetic overlap.

One of our all-time favorite country singer/songwriters Naomi Judd turned 70 yesterday. She celebrated at her daughter Ashley’s home. To celebrate the occasion, we found a 2010 Oprah Show clip in which Naomi leads cameras into the Judd Family Farm, a 1,000-acre property just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. The Judd family purchased the property in 1989, and Naomi, Wynonna and Ashley all built homes on the land. Watch as Naomi, who has appeared on The Oprah Show 11 times, leads you into the heart of Peaceful Valley, the Judds’ own little slice of heaven. Everytime I think of you
Lonesome, I'm on my own some
Yes, I could lone some
Tears for you
Daybreak
Another daybreak
And I wonder
How I got through
You know sleepin'
I'm only sleepin'
In between my weepin'
Tears for you
You know that one night
One night can be such a long night
At midnight
I know all the stars by name
But It's allright
I'll get myself together
Nothin' lasts forever
I'll just play another game
Because mistakes
Everyone makes mistakes
Can one kiss make
Dreams come true
Nice try, I'll just say goodbye
Let someone else cry
Tears for you
Tears for you
Tears for you
Tears for you
