Matthew Wade "Matt" Osborne (July 27, 1957 – June 28, 2013) was an American professional wrestler. Osborne was a second generation wrestler, the son of Tony Borne, and is best known as being the first and longest-running wrestler to portray the character of Doink the Clown.
Under the ring name Matt Borne, Osborne debuted on December 6, 1978 and wrestled for various National Wrestling Alliance territories, most prominently for Pacific Northwest Wrestling, where he was their heavyweight and four-time tag champion. In Mid Atlantic Championship Wrestling on June 6, 1980, he won his first championship, also the first of two tag titles he would hold with Buzz Sawyer. In Mid-South Wrestling, he allied with Ted DiBiase and Jim Duggan as a member of The Rat Pack, a heel stable, and won their tag title with DiBiase. In Canada, he worked for All Star Wrestling and Maple Leaf Wrestling.
Doink the Clown is the name and persona originated by professional wrestler Matt Osborne in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and used there from 1992 to 1996, and sporadically thereafter. After Osborne left the WWF in late 1993, the character was played by several wrestlers, both in the WWF (later WWE) and elsewhere. Osborne continued to sporadically perform as Doink until six months before his death in June 2013.
Former WWE producer Bruce Prichard said in an interview on The Steve Austin Show that Michael Hegstrand had originally conceived the idea of a miserable clown character.
After making appearances in late 1992 in the crowd and at ringside, playing tricks on the fans and wrestlers, the Doink character made his in-ring debut in the WWF in 1993, originally wrestling as a technically sound heel. Doink played cruel jokes on both fans and wrestlers in order to amuse himself and put them off guard. Some of his villainous pranks included tripping The Big Boss Man with a tripwire, dumping water on Marty Jannetty and attacking Crush with a loaded prosthetic arm. He clashed with Crush at WrestleMania IX, a match which he won after the appearance of an identical Doink (played by Steve Keirn) from underneath the ring. Doink also briefly feuded with Randy Savage on an early edition of Monday Night Raw, and Bret Hart, after substituting for Jerry Lawler, who faked an injury, at SummerSlam in 1993.

"Rest in peace" (Latin: Requiescat in pace (Classical Latin: [rɛ.kʷɪˈeːs.kat in ˈpaː.kɛ], Ecclesiastical Latin: [re.kwiˈɛs.kat in ˈpa.tʃe])) is a short epitaph or idiomatic expression wishing eternal rest and peace to someone who has died. The expression typically appears on headstones, often abbreviated as R.I.P. or RIP."repose en paix" (French).
The phrase dormit in pace (English: "he sleeps in peace") was found in the catacombs of the early Christians and indicated that "they died in the peace of the Church, that is, united in Christ." The acronym R.I.P., meaning "rest in peace", continues to be engraved on the gravestones of Christians from several denominations, especially the Catholic Church, the Lutheran Church and the Anglican Church.
In burial services of the Catholic Church according to the Tridentine Rite, which includes the Missa pro Defunctis (Requiem Mass), the phrase appears several times.
In modern ecclesiastical Latin, "requiēscat in pāce" is pronounced [rekwiˈeskat in ˈpatʃe], whereas in classical Latin it would be pronounced [rɛkʷiˈeːskat ɪn ˈpaːkɛ].

est In Peace : WWE's MATT OSBORNE aka Doink the Clown Matt Osborne, better known as Doink the Clown in the wrestling world, passed way on Friday, June 28, 2013 of unknown causes. He was 55 years old. The ex-WWE star was found by his girlfriend in their Plano, Texas apartment. The cause of death is unknown. An investigation is underway; his death may have been accidental. Upon learning of Doink's death, the WWE released a mournful statement: WWE is saddened by the news that Matt Osborne, aka the original Doink the Clown, has passed away. A rugged brawler in promotions like Mid-South Wrestling and World Championship Wrestling, Osborne made a major impact in WWE under the greasepaint of a prankster named Doink — one of the most enduring personas of the early '90s. WARNING: The last track will be much louder than the rest of the recording. I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Consider yourselves warned. I have been meaning to make this available for a while. If you subscribed to this channel for Matt videos/audios I hope you will be delighted and let others know it is here. It's really just an easy way to access the audio instead of a one-off podcast which is how I first envisioned it. This is my favourite Matt recording because it is live and really captures the "rawking" awesomeness of his live shows. If you know when it was recorded, or were a member of the small audience, let me know. I had a CD burner back in the day and sometimes served as Matt's "production facility" which is how I came to have a copy. Recorded Live at "The Bomb Shelter" on ...
