"Reconsider Me" is a country/soul ballad written by Margaret Lewis and Mira Smith. Johnny Adams's 1969 version was his biggest hit, peaking at number 8 on the American R&B charts and number 28 on the pop charts. In the same year Ray Pillow's country version hit number 38 on the country charts.
The highest charting version is by American country music artist Narvel Felts. Released in 1975, it was the first single from his album Narvel Felts. The song peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. It also reached number 1 on the RPM Country Tracks chart in Canada.
Reconsider Me was the title track of a 1971 album by John Wesley Ryles, and as a single it hit #39 on the country charts.
In 2009 Louisiana bluesman Bryan Lee covered the song on his album My Lady Don't Love My Lady.
In 2013 Dayna Kurtz covered the song on her album Secret Canon Vol. 2.
"Reconsider Me" is a single from Warren Zevon's 1987 album Sentimental Hygiene. The song failed to chart, but became a live staple in Zevon's concert performances. In 2006, a set of love songs were released under the name: Reconsider Me: The Love Songs.
In 1984, Warren Zevon presented "Reconsider Me" to Jimmy Iovine. Jimmy gave the song to Stevie Nicks and was recorded for her 1984 album Mirror, Mirror. The album was pulled from release, and the song was left unreleased until 1998 when Stevie Nicks released her box set "Enchanted" Nicks said in the Enchanted box set "Jimmy Iovine brought me this song, I think Jimmy and I were fighting, and for some reason... wasn't in a very "reconsider me" state of mind. I don't think Jimmy ever forgave me for not trusting his judgment." Stevie Nicks was given a co-writing credit for making many notable changes to the lyrics of the song.
Hallå, ah?
I see, it's fine
You're somebody else's little girl now, and will never
be mine
But give me a minute, let me get through to you, yeah
I will continue to call you repeatedly till you do
Refr:
Summer nights you know what we do
We're just keeping it tight, simple as that
When it's dark outside, holding me down for delight
And we could do it all night long..
..Reconsider me baby, c'mon
Girl, you makin a terrible, stupid mistake
Hangin around with that guy ain't right
I'm for real, he's fake
I know that signal, that's a call on the other line
And your boyfriend would sure check that out but I'm
not that kind
