Sisqó
Mark Althavean Andrews (born November 9, 1978), known by his stage name Sisqó (stylized as SisQó), is an American R&B singer, songwriter, dancer, record producer and actor. He is the lead singer of R&B group Dru Hill, and has also released solo material. Sisqo's successful debut solo album, Unleash the Dragon (1999), included the hit singles "Thong Song" and "Incomplete." Andrews resides in Maple Grove, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis, with his girlfriend Elizabeth Pham.
Biography
As a teen, Mark Andrews worked at The Fudgery in Baltimore's Inner Harbor with three other young men: Larry "Jazz" Anthony, James "Woody" Green, and Tamir "Nokio" Ruffin. The quartet would be signed as the group Dru Hill to Island Records in 1996. He lived in the Reservoir Hill neighborhood at 908 Newington Avenue near Druid Hill Park which is where the group got their name.
Andrews graduated from Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School in 1994. He has a daughter, Shaione, who was born in 1995. His second child, Quintus, was born in 1995. His third child, son Ryū, was born in 2012. Andrews' children is the godfather of fellow R&B singer Cedric Hailey, who performs under his best known name K-Ci (best known as a member of Jodeci and K-Ci & JoJo).

This was followed by another huge hit, "Incomplete", which helped Unleash the Dragon reach multi-platinum status.
A year after "Thong Song" first blew up, Sisqó returned with his second platinum album in June 2001, Return of Dragon, and also had lined up a startling number of acting opportunities, reaffirming his superstar status.
The Singer's third studio album, Last Dragon is due for released in the summer of 2013.

Solo career, acting, and Dru Hill reunion[edit]
After Woody Rock left Dru Hill in 1999 to pursue a solo career, it was decided that the other members would follow suit and issue their own solo albums. Sisqó's solo debut, Unleash the Dragon, was released on Def Soul Records in November 1999. Unleash the Dragon sold moderately at first, until the February 2000 release of its second single, the novelty "Thong Song". A runaway hit, "Thong Song" and its follow-up, "Incomplete", were major hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with "Thong Song" making it to number three, and "Incomplete" going to #1. The success later got Sisqó a doll made of himself by Play Along Toys in 2001.[citation needed]. Solo albums by Jazz and Nokio reached varying levels of completion and were never released.
Conflicts within the group prevented Dru Hill from reuniting as planned in late 2000, and Sisqó set about recording a second solo LP. During this period, Sisqó branched out into hosting the dance competition program Sisqó's Shakedown on MTV, and into film, taking on supporting roles in the films Get Over It (2001) with Kirsten Dunst and Snow Dogs (2002) with Cuba Gooding, Jr.. He also starred as a vampire in Sabrina The Teenage Witch (Season 6 episode6). Although his second LP, Return of Dragon, released in June 2001, eventually went platinum, its singles "Can I Live" and "Dance for Me" performed far below expectations (apart from in the United Kingdom, where "Dance for Me" became his third top ten hit), and by 2002, Sisqó was back with Dru Hill, which released its third LP in late 2002. The LP underperformed, and the group was eventually released from their recording contract.
Sisqó's visual trademarks are his eclectic hair styles and flamboyant stage costumes, which were regularly flashier than those of his groupmates. Over his career as a recording artist, both with and without Dru Hill, Sisqó's hairstyles have included a bleached blond Caesar, a platinum Caesar (colored with silver spray paint), blond cornrows, a neon-red dyed Caesar, and a blond Mohawk.
Return of Dragon is the second studio album by R&B; singer Sisqó of Dru Hill, released on June 19, 2001 on Def Soul Records. The album did very well on the charts but its singles, "Can I Live" and "Dance for Me", were commercial disappointments compared to his debut album, Unleash the Dragon. Despite the fact that Sisqó announced a third single, "Dream", this never materialized due to the commercial failure of the album. The song "Without You" was originally planned to be featured on Dru Hill's third album, Dru World Order but tensions grew between the group while working on the album and it was put on hold.

After Woody Rock left Dru Hill in 1999 to pursue a solo career, it was decided that the other members would follow suit and issue their own solo albums. Sisqó's solo debut, Unleash the Dragon, was released on Def Soul Records in November 1999. Unleash the Dragon sold moderately at first, until the February 2000 release of its second single, the novelty "Thong Song". A runaway hit, "Thong Song" and its follow-up, "Incomplete", were major hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with "Thong Song" making it to number three, and "Incomplete" going to #1. The success later got Sisqó a doll made of himself by Play Along Toys in 2001.[citation needed]. Solo albums by Jazz and Nokio reached varying levels of completion and were never released.
Conflicts within the group prevented Dru Hill from reuniting as planned in late 2000, and Sisqó set about recording a second solo LP. During this period, Sisqó branched out into hosting the dance competition program Sisqó's Shakedown on MTV, and into film, taking on supporting roles in the films Get Over It (2001) with Kirsten Dunst and Snow Dogs (2002) with Cuba Gooding, Jr.. He also starred as a vampire in Sabrina The Teenage Witch (Season 6 episode6). Although his second LP, Return of Dragon, released in June 2001, eventually went platinum, its singles "Can I Live" and "Dance for Me" performed far below expectations (apart from in the United Kingdom, where "Dance for Me" became his third top ten hit), and by 2002, Sisqó was back with Dru Hill, which released its third LP in late 2002. The LP underperformed, and the group was eventually released from their recording contract.
Sisqó's visual trademarks are his eclectic hair styles and flamboyant stage costumes, which were regularly flashier than those of his groupmates. Over his career as a recording artist, both with and without Dru Hill, Sisqó's hairstyles have included a bleached blond Caesar, a platinum Caesar (colored with silver spray paint), blond cornrows, a neon-red dyed Caesar, and a blond Mohawk.
Return of Dragon is the second studio album by R&B; singer Sisqó of Dru Hill, released on June 19, 2001 on Def Soul Records. The album did very well on the charts but its singles, "Can I Live" and "Dance for Me", were commercial disappointments compared to his debut album, Unleash the Dragon. Despite the fact that Sisqó announced a third single, "Dream", this never materialized due to the commercial failure of the album. The song "Without You" was originally planned to be featured on Dru Hill's third album, Dru World Order but tensions grew between the group while working on the album and it was put on hold.

In the days following Prince's death, on-air tributes were on nearly every radio station, and various sites around Minneapolis - from stadiums, to buildings, to bridges were illuminated in purple to honor the hometown music legend.
But nearly 20 miles away in Maple Grove, resident Mark Andrews grieved in his own way.
"I'm a little frazzled," he said. "If you were in hip hop or R&B; or pop, [Prince] just kind of was it. Like, he was the guy."
Andrews is more commonly known to the world as Sisqo, who's had hits as a solo performer and with his R&B; group Dru Hill.
Sisqo considers Prince as one of his biggest influences.
"If you never heard me say it, it's because I didn't want to be compared," Sisqo said. "Cause it's like, if you compare Sisqo to Prince, I mean, I've got a lifetime of work to do."
Shared connection
When Sisqo first got into the music industry, he and Prince shared a connection.
"Myself and my group, Dru Hill, we had the same lawyer as Prince, back when he changed his name to that symbol," Sisqo said.
At the time, Prince fought with his record label about ownership of his music.
"That was when he had written the word 'slave' on his face," Sisqo said.
That fight taught Sisqo a valuable lesson.
"I learned from Prince that when you make the content, you're entitled to it," Sisqo said. "Because of the things that I learned from Prince, I get a bigger lion's share of the works that I created."
Works, some of which are sexually charged in nature, much like ones that Prince released in the 1980's.
"If it wasn't for Prince walking around naked in 'When Doves Cry' then songs like my popular hit 'Thong Song' would never have been able to get past the censors."
Debt of gratitude
For pushing the envelope several decades ago, Sisqo owes prince a debt of gratitude.
"Absolutely," he said.
When we interviewed Sisqo in May of 2015, he shared a vision with us.
"My ultimate goal before we leave Minnesota, is hopefully to make it to Paisley Park to kick it with Prince," Sisqo said.
Yet it was a dream Sisqo never fulfilled, with Prince's untimely death on April 21.
"It's just one of those things where you're like, man... never put off tomorrow what you can do today.
Meanwhile, Sisqo said one of his other regrets is that in 1997, his group Dru Hill teamed up with Mariah Carey to record a cover version of Prince's song, "The Beautiful Ones," and Sisqo never had the opportunity to ask Prince what he thought about their rendition.

Strong quake rattles central Italy, at least 11 dead

AMATRICE, Italy — A strong earthquake struck central Italy early Wednesday, collapsing homes on top of residents as they slept. At least 11 people were reported dead in two hard-hit towns where rescue crews raced to dig out survivors from the rubble. "The town isn't here anymore," Amatrice mayor Sergio Pirozzi said. The magnitude 6 quake struck at 3.36 a.m ... The center of Amatrice was devastated, with entire palazzos razed to the ground ... ....

Three central Italy towns were reduced to rubble as people slept early Wednesday by a strong earthquake with various media reports saying the death toll was at least 50 people and hundreds injured as rescue crews raced to dig out survivors, Star and Stripes reported.
