Live Nation Entertainment (NYSE: LYV) is an American entertainment company, formed from the merger of Live Nation and Ticketmaster. The leadership consists of John C. Malone, Chairman of Liberty Media as Chairman and Michael Rapino, (currently Chief-Executive-Officer of Live Nation) as President and CEO of the new company. On January 24, 2011, media executive Barry Diller resigned from the board of directors after a reported internal boardroom struggle.

In order to complete the merge, Live Nation and Ticketmaster will need approval from their shareholders, California State Regulators (as both companies are based in California), and Federal regulator approval. At this time, the Federal regulator response is the only outstanding approval.

The proposal has received regulatory approval in Norway and Turkey. The United States Justice Department approved the merger on January 25, 2010 with some conditions to which both parties agreed.

In October 2009, the United Kingdom's Competition Commission provisionally ruled against the merger but on December 22, 2009, the Competition Commission reversed itself and decided to clear the proposed merger.

A nation may refer to a community of people who share a common language, culture, ethnicity, descent, or history. In this definition, a nation has no physical borders. However, it can also refer to people who share a common territory and government (for example the inhabitants of a sovereign state) irrespective of their ethnic make-up. In international relations, nation can refer to a country or sovereign state. The word nation can more specifically refer to people of North American Indians, such as the Cherokee Nation that prefer this term over the contested term tribe.

According to Joseph Stalin writing in 1913 in Marxism and the National Question: "a nation is not a racial or tribal, but a historically constituted community of people;" "a nation is not a casual or ephemeral conglomeration, but a stable community of people;" "a common language is one of the characteristic features of a nation;" "a nation is formed only as a result of lengthy and systematic intercourse, as a result of people living together generation after generation;" "a common territory is one of the characteristic features of a nation;" "a common economic life, economic cohesion, is one of the characteristic features of a nation;" "a common psychological make-up, which manifests itself in a common culture, is one of the characteristic features of a nation;" "A nation is a historically constituted, stable community of people, formed on the basis of a common language, territory, economic life, and psychological make-up manifested in a common culture." According to Stalin, this would exclude Jews as they have no common territory.

Mariah Carey (born March 27, 1970) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actress. She made her recording debut in 1990 under the guidance of Columbia Records executive Tommy Mottola, and released her self-titled debut studio album, Mariah Carey. The album went multi-platinum and spawned four consecutive number one singles, on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart. Following her marriage to Mottola in 1993, a series of hit records, including Emotions (1991), Music Box (1993) and Merry Christmas (1994), established her position as Columbia's highest-selling act. Daydream (1995), made music history when the second single, "One Sweet Day" a duet with Boyz II Men, spent a record sixteen weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100, and remains the longest running number one song in US chart history. During the recording of the album Carey began to deviate from her pop background, and slowly traversed into R&B and Hip-hop. After her separation from Mottola, this musical change was evident with the release of Butterfly (1997).
