A big blow to ISIS as the death of their no 2 leader Abu Muhammed al-Adnani has been confirmed by the terrorist organization, as reported by NBC news. Al-Adnani was at the top of the list of individuals in ISIS that the US wanted dead with a $5 million reward attached. Details of his death have not come in but it allegedly occurred in Aleppo, Syria. Al-Adnani was considered ISIS’ director of external operations and a main spokesperson who was best known for issuing an official order for lone wolves to kill westerners in 2014. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) group said its chief spokesman Abu Muhammad al-Adnani has been killed in an air strike in the Syrian city of Al Bab.
A US official confirmed that Adnani was targeted in an American raid and the Pentagon is still assessing the results of the strike.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Joshua Landis from the University of Oklahoma said Adnani's death may affect ISIL's operational command structure.

According to Arab genealogical tradition, the Adnanites are "Arabized Arabs", descended from Adnan, distinguished from the "pure" Qahtanite Arabs of southern Arabia.

Arab genealogical tradition holds that the Adnanites are "Arabized Arabs", descended from Adnan. The Adnanites became Arabized when they migrated to the Arabian Peninsula, whereas the Qahtanites of Southern Arabia are pure Arabs.
Modern historiography
According to modern historians, the traditional distinction between Adnanites and Qahtanites lacks evidence and may have developed out of the later faction-fighting during the Umayyad period.

Al-Adnani was at the top of the list of individuals in ISIS that the US wanted dead with a $5 million reward attached. Details of his death have not come in but it allegedly occurred in Aleppo, Syria. Al-Adnani was considered ISIS’ director of external operations and a main spokesperson who was best known for issuing an official order for lone wolves to kill westerners in 2014. According to NBC news there was a large amount of evidence showing just how influential he was in pushing individuals in Western countries to carry out solo attacks.

A US official confirmed that Adnani was targeted in an American raid and the Pentagon is still assessing the results of the strike.
