Ian Pooley (born Ian Pinnekamp in 1973) is a German-born record producer and DJ. While incorporating samples of various musical genres, Pooley's creations are usually classified as house or tech house with Brazilian influence.
Pooley's music career began in 1993. After a long stretch with V2 Records in which Pooley released several very successful[citation needed] albums (Meridian and Since Then) Pooley left V2 and started his own record company, Pooled Music, in 2003.
Ian Pooley has also cited on various albums (Brazilution 5.3 and Souvenirs being two) that he had an audible 'click' when listening to Brazilian music at a night club.[citation needed] As such, a lot of his music has a noticeable Brazilian flavor to it. He has incorporated artists like Rosanna and Zelia and veteran musician Marcos Valle in some of his works.
In addition to original works, Pooley has remixed artists such as Deee-Lite, The Cardigans, Daft Punk, Carl Cox and Bob Sinclar.
Bliss n Eso are an ARIA Award-winning Australian hip hop band based in Sydney, and were originally known as Bliss N' Esoterikizm for their debut EP The Arrival. Bliss N Eso are currently signed to Melbourne record label Illusive Sounds, and are managed and booked by label co-founders Adam Jankie and Matt Gudinski.
The trio, American MC Bliss (Jonathan Notley), Australian MC Eso (Max MacKinnon) and DJ Izm (Tarik Ejjamai) of Moroccan heritage, have been friends (and have rapped together) since high school. Notley moved to Australia in 1992 when he was thirteen and met MacKinnon at the Glenaeon Steiner School in Sydney.
"When I got to Australia, I met Eso (MacKinnon) and he was the only guy at my school into hip-hop. It was so scarce you'd be lucky to find a hip-hop record in a store let alone a whole section." - Jonathan "Bliss" Notley
"Back then hip hop was basically non-existent; there was no urban or hip-hop section in the CD stores. You'd be lucky to find a couple of albums like a Public Enemy album or something if you went to the CD stores. So I guess that's one of the reasons why Max, who's Eso, and I kinda bonded at high school, I think, because he was really the only other guy in the school who was into hip-hop." - Jonathan "Bliss" Notley
Life is boring
Sleep is boring
Don't stop running
I'm here counting
The life, the hurt, the pain, the hate
The life, the hurt, the pain, the hate
The life, the hurt, the pain, the hate
Really can't fuck with me
There's no where else to go
So I walk but seem to crawl
For I'm giving in today
Now I run into a wall
Cause I cannot find my way
You've got to come with me
I can not stand this place
We are crawling up the wall
And I'll give in this way
We had our chance to run
And now I can't believe
We're going all the way
And now the shits in place
My life, worry, lifeless story
Give up beating
I'll start bleeding
The life, the hurt, the pain, the hate
The life, the hurt, the pain, the hate
The life, the hurt, the pain, the hate
Really can't fuck with me
There's no where else to go
So I walk but seem to crawl
For I'm giving in today
Now I run into a wall
Cause I can not find my way
You've got to come with me
I can not stand this place
We are crawling up the wall
And I'll give in this way
We had our chance to run
And now I can't believe
We're going all the way
And now the shits in place
What really do I have to follow?
Nothing makes sense at all
Taking something for nothing
Watch me as I fall
I'm bringing me down
You've got to come with me
I can not stand this place
We are crawling up the wall
And I'll give in this way
We had our chance to run
And now I can't believe
We're going all the way
And now the shits in place
I've got to control my ups and downs
I've got to control your perfect lies
you say that my downs are on the outside
forced to my skin like clothes
try to take your love
and throw it back in place
try to take your love
and throw it back in place
but you are so strong when it all comes down
you dress up shut and throw up
but I keep myself in my state
yeah I keep myself in my state
try to take your love
and throw it back in place
try to take your love
and throw it back in place
She said I'm sorry that you lost your job
but I've been trying this for far too long now
Ooooooohhhh,
I'm so tired.
Ooooooohhhw.
I'm so tired.
Wooohhhwood,
I'm so tired.
I woke up this morning,
