Wait for Me is the ninth studio album by American electronica musician Moby, released on 29 June 2009. Moby announced the title, track listing, and release date of the album on his website on 14 April 2009.
The first single from the album was "Shot in the Back of the Head". The song's accompanying music video was directed by David Lynch. The videos to "Pale Horses" and "Mistake" feature the alien shown on the cover and a dog. The alien is a new design of "Little Idiot" who appeared in earlier videos (the videos for Play's "Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?" and "Natural Blues" are both examples) and is also the name of Moby's own label, on which the album was released.
The album was re-released as a Deluxe Edition on 23 November 2009 featuring the complete Wait for Me original album, two new songs (including the brand new single "One Time We Lived"), an extra CD of ambient versions of almost all the songs, and a DVD featuring many recent live performances, an intimate EPK of the album, a section of questions and answers, and five music videos made for the album.
Wait for Me may refer to:
Wait for Me is the third studio album by American blues artist Susan Tedeschi, released in 2002 (see 2002 in music).
Wait for Me (Жди меня), written by the Russian poet and playwright turned war correspondent Konstantin Simonov, is one of the best known Russian World War II poems. It was written by Simonov in 1941 after he left his love Valentina Serova behind to take on his new duties of war correspondent on the battlefront.
Simonov and Serova were married in 1943. Their relationship was a troubled one. During the war it was widely rumored that Serova was a mistress of Gen. K.K. Rokossovski. While it's true that Serova, working as a hospital volunteer, met Rokossovski several times while he was recovering from a wound from a shell fragment in early 1942, there is no evidence that they were lovers. Rokossovski already had a mistress at this time, Dr. Lt. Galina Talanova, with whom he had a daughter in 1945.
The poem was notably referenced in "Red Star: The Soviet Union (1941–1943)", the eleventh episode of the ITV documentary series The World at War.
"Wait for Me" is given in its entirety at the List of Russian language poets.
Richard Melville Hall (born September 11, 1965), better known by his stage name Moby, is an American singer-songwriter, musician, DJ and photographer. He is well known for his electronic music, vegan lifestyle, and support of animal rights. Moby has sold over 20 million albums worldwide.AllMusic considers him "one of the most important dance music figures of the early 1990s, helping bring the music to a mainstream audience both in the UK and in America".
Moby gained attention in the early 1990s with his electronic dance music work, which experimented in the techno and breakbeat hardcore genres. With his fifth studio album, the electronica and house music-influenced Play, he gained international success. Originally released in mid-1999, the album sold 6,000 copies in its first week, and it re-entered the charts in early 2000 and became an unexpected hit, producing eight singles and selling over 10 million copies worldwide. Moby followed the album in 2002 with 18, which was also successful, selling over 5 million copies worldwide and receiving mostly positive reviews, though some criticized it for being too similar to Play.
The Moby programming language is an experiment in computer programming, design and implementation. The Moby project started out as a testbed for the design of ML2000.
Moby is primarily a collaboration between Kathleen Fisher and John Reppy. Much of the work on Moby was done while John Reppy was an MTS at Bell Labs in the Computing Sciences Research Center.
Moby is the debut studio album by American electronica musician Moby, released in July 1992 by record label Instinct.
The song "Go" samples "Laura Palmer's Theme" from Twin Peaks, as well as the titular vocal from the song "Go!" by Tones on Tail.
The album's song "Thousand" also holds the Guinness World Record for having the fastest beats-per-minute (BPM) tempo, clocking in at approximately 1,000 BPM, hence its name.
Moby was released by the New York-based independent label Instinct Records on July 27, 1992. The album was issued without Moby's cooperation, with Moby stating that "all the songs are at least a year old. It's not entirely reflective of where I'm coming from right now" and that "the label had the legal right to put it out, the best thing for me to do is view it as more a retrospective and get on with life".
The album was released in 1993 in UK as The Story So Far, with a different track lineup and slightly different cover art, which incorporates the different title.
