We're in Washington Village in Tyne & Wear to visit National Trust property Washington Old Hall. It's something of a hidden gem!
It's the second day of our North of England road trip and today we're in Tyne & Wear to visit Washington Old Hall. Washington Old Hall is a National Trust property that is the ancestral home of George Washington, the first president of the United States. As well as being George Washington's ancestral home, Washington Old Hall has an interesting history, including the story of how it was saved from being destroyed after it was a tenement building until the early 20th century. Washington Old Hall also has beautiful small gardens, including a wild meadow to explore. We found Washington Old Hall to be a bit of a hidden gem and well worth a half-day visit.
We also take some time to look around Washington Village itself and have a coffee in the delightful tearoom that overlooks Washington Village green.

Washington, Tyne and Wear
Coordinates: 54°54′N 1°31′W / 54.90°N 1.52°W / 54.90; -1.52
Washington is a town in the City of Sunderland, in Tyne and Wear, England, and part of historic County Durham. Washington is located geographically at an equal distance from the centres of Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland, hence it has close ties to all three cities.
Washington was designated a new town in 1964; it expanded dramatically, by the creation of new villages and the absorption of areas of Chester-le-Street, to house overspill population from surrounding cities.
At the 2011 census, its urban subdivision (which contains the neighboring settlement of New Herrington) had a population of 67,085.
Name
Early references appear around 1096 in Old English as Wasindone. The etymological origin is disputed and there are several proposed theories for how the name "Washington" came about. Early interpretations included Wasindone (people of the hill by the stream, 1096), or Wassyngtona (settlement of Wassa's people, 1183).

Washington (footballer)
Washington Stecanela Cerqueira, or simply Washington (born April 1, 1975 in Brasília), is a retired association footballer who played striker.
Career
In Turkish league 2002–2003 season he scored 10 goals in 17 games and then he was released by Fenerbahçe because of his health problems.
Washington was submitted to a coronary catheterization. Once recovered, physicians told him that playing football would not represent a risk to his condition. Then he signed with Atlético Paranaense where he was 2004 Série A top-scorer with 34 goals and broke the league's record. For his recovery, he was dubbed Coração Valente, the title of the movie Braveheart in Brazil.
In 2005 he moved to Japan to play for Tokyo Verdy in the J. League Division 1. He had a successful season there with 22 goals in 33 games but could not save his club from relegation. In 2006 he transferred to Urawa Red Diamonds and helped the Reds win their first ever J. League Division 1 title, becoming the top scorer in the league with 26 goals in 26 games. In 2007, he became 2007 FIFA Club World Cup top scorer and his team finished in third place.

Washington 
i/ˈwɒʃɪŋtən/ is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States located north of Oregon, west of Idaho, and south of the Canadian province of British Columbia on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Named after George Washington, the first President of the United States, the state was made out of the western part of the Washington Territory which had been ceded by Britain in 1846 by the Oregon Treaty as a settlement of the Oregon Boundary Dispute. It was admitted to the Union as the 42nd state in 1889. Washington is often referred to as Washington State or the State of Washington to distinguish it from Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States.
Washington is the 18th largest and the 13th most populous state. Approximately 60 percent of Washington's residents live in the Seattle metropolitan area, the center of transportation, business, and industry along the Puget Sound region of the Salish Sea, an inlet of the Pacific consisting of numerous islands, deep fjords, and bays carved out by glaciers. The remainder of the state consists of deep temperate rainforests in the west, mountain ranges in the west, central, northeast and far southeast, and a semi-arid basin region in the east, central, and south, given over to intensive agriculture. After California, Washington is the second most populous state on the West Coast and in the Western United States.

Barça faced LA Galaxy, Manchester United and Chelsea in the International Champions Cup with a record of one win, one draw and one defeat. Competing teams hail from Taiwan’s allies, like Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, as well as from soccer-loving countries like the U.S., the U.K., Spain, and Italy. Overall, 18 teams from 13 nations will compete. And even top diplomats are getting on the pitch. They’ll go head-to-head in a knock-out tournament with players from Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Barça faced LA Galaxy, Manchester United and Chelsea in the International Champions Cup with a record of one win, one draw and one defeat. However, the tour was not just about football – the players took the opportunity to get to know the cities they visited a little better and attend to the thousands of fans who wanted to meet them. The squad also enjoyed visits themselves from distinguished guests such as NBA star Kobe Bryant, who met up with the squad in Los Angeles. In San Francisco it was the Golden State Warriors who gave the blaugranes a basketball lesson. Aside from sport, Gerard Piqué took the chance to visit the headquarters of Twitter and meet its founders. All this and more in a documentary on the tour prepared by Barça TV.

We're in Washington Village in Tyne & Wear to visit National Trust property Washington Old Hall. It's something of a hidden gem!
It's the second day of our North of England road trip and today we're in Tyne & Wear to visit Washington Old Hall. Washington Old Hall is a National Trust property that is the ancestral home of George Washington, the first president of the United States. As well as being George Washington's ancestral home, Washington Old Hall has an interesting history, including the story of how it was saved from being destroyed after it was a tenement building until the early 20th century. Washington Old Hall also has beautiful small gardens, including a wild meadow to explore. We found Washington Old Hall to be a bit of a hidden gem and well worth a half-day visit.
We also take some time to look around Washington Village itself and have a coffee in the delightful tearoom that overlooks Washington Village green.

Coordinates: 54°54′N 1°31′W / 54.90°N 1.52°W / 54.90; -1.52
Washington is a town in the City of Sunderland, in Tyne and Wear, England, and part of historic County Durham. Washington is located geographically at an equal distance from the centres of Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland, hence it has close ties to all three cities.
Washington was designated a new town in 1964; it expanded dramatically, by the creation of new villages and the absorption of areas of Chester-le-Street, to house overspill population from surrounding cities.
At the 2011 census, its urban subdivision (which contains the neighboring settlement of New Herrington) had a population of 67,085.
Name
Early references appear around 1096 in Old English as Wasindone. The etymological origin is disputed and there are several proposed theories for how the name "Washington" came about. Early interpretations included Wasindone (people of the hill by the stream, 1096), or Wassyngtona (settlement of Wassa's people, 1183).

The World Cup Taiwan will kick off on Oct. 23: a big development for soccer in Taiwan. After eight years playing under the name “Cup America,” the event has a new branding. Footballers will come together in 18 teams, from across 13 nations, for a mini World Cup. And for the first time, ambassadors from Taiwan’s allies will gather on the pitch as well. Sixteen ambassadors and national representatives will play a knock-out tournament with athletes from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Time to step out of the suit, and into the studs.
This footballer has amazing control of the ball, flipping, dribbling and showing off all kinds of tricks. Nothing is too tricky for Honduran student Daniel, who will play in the World Cup Taiwan.

The theme of this year’s National Day was “A Great Alliance of Democracy, Let’s Make Friends with the World.” After eight years as Cup America, this year the event is global. Competing teams hail from Taiwan’s allies, like Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, as well as from soccer-loving countries like the U.S., the U.K., Spain, and Italy. Overall, 18 teams from 13 nations will compete. And even top diplomats are getting on the pitch. They’ll go head-to-head in a knock-out tournament with players from Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

FC Barcelona spent 10 day on US soil visiting three famous cities in the process: Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington DC. Barça faced LA Galaxy, Manchester United and Chelsea in the International Champions Cup with a record of one win, one draw and one defeat. However, the tour was not just about football – the players took the opportunity to get to know the cities they visited a little better and attend to the thousands of fans who wanted to meet them. The squad also enjoyed visits themselves from distinguished guests such as NBA star Kobe Bryant, who met up with the squad in Los Angeles. In San Francisco it was the Golden State Warriors who gave the blaugranes a basketball lesson. With more than 7.4 million people, Washington is the 18th largest state, with an area of 70,000 square miles, and the 13th most populous state.
Washington is a breathtaking wonderland of perfectly landscaped beauty.
It has more glaciers than the other 47 contiguous states put together, with a classic Pacific Northwest terrain marked by the Cascades and a treasured coast.
