Luis de Narváez (fl. 1526--49) was a vihuelist born in Granada at the end of the Fifteenth Century. He was a court musician of the Comendador of León and then of the later ascending Felipe II. Narváez's most important surviving music is contained in Los seys libros del delphín (Valladolid, 1538), a six-volume collection of music for vihuela.

Since the revival of global capital markets in the 1960s, cross-border capital flows have increased by orders of magnitude, so much so that international asset positions now outstrip global economic output. Most cross-border capital flows occur among industrialized nations, but emerging markets are increasing participants in the globalization of capital flows.
While it is widely recognized that investment is an important ingredient for economic growth, and that capital flows may under certain conditions be a valuable supplement to domestic savings for financing such investment, there is a growing concern that certain capital flows (such as short-term debt) can have destabilizing effects in developing countries.
Boston University’s Associate Professor Kevin Gallagher (an Institute grantee) discusses these issues in his new book, “Ruling Capital”. As Gallagher points out in the book and in the interview below, the 2008 global financial crisis has opened a new chapter in the debate over the proper policy responses to pro-cyclical capital flows. Until very recently certain strands of the economics profession as well as industrialized country national governments and international financial institutions have remained either hostile or silent to regulating capital movements. But there is no longer policy unanimity on this issue, which is in marked contrast to the period during the Asian Financial Crisis, where the so-called “Washington Consensus” dominated policy making in both the developed and developing world, and capital account liberalization remained paramount. Today, as Gallagher points out, a number of emerging economies, including Brazil, Taiwan, and South Korea, have been successfully experimenting with new capital account regulations (CARs) to manage volatile capital flows and managed to remain relatively unaffected by the turbulence brought about as the Fed began the process of unwinding its quantitative easing program. Even the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has come to partially recognize the appropriateness of capital account regulations and has gone so far as to recommend (and officially endorse) a set of guidelines regarding the appropriate use of CARs.
Gallagher develops a theory of countervailing monetary power that shows how emerging markets can and should counter domestic and international opposition to the regulation of cross-border flows, even as he acknowledges powerful attacks from a multiplicity of interests, seeking to undermine those very regulations.

PRISM is a clandestine[1] surveillance program under which the United States National Security Agency (NSA) collects internet communications from at least nine major US internet companies.[2][3][4] Since 2001 the United States government has increased its scope for such surveillance, and so this program was launched in 2007.
PRISM is a government code name for a data-collection effort known officially by the SIGAD US-984XN.[5][6] The PRISM program collects stored internet communications based on demands made to internet companies such as Google Inc. under Section 702 of the FISA Amendments Act of 2008 to turn over any data that match court-approved search terms.[7] The NSA can use these PRISM requests to target communications that were encrypted when they traveled across the internet backbone, to focus on stored data that telecommunication filtering systems discarded earlier,[8][9] and to get data that is easier to handle, among other things.[10]

Luis de Narváez (fl. 1526--49) was a vihuelist born in Granada at the end of the Fifteenth Century. He was a court musician of the Comendador of León and then of the later ascending Felipe II. Narváez's most important surviving music is contained in Los seys libros del delphín (Valladolid, 1538), a six-volume collection of music for vihuela.

Since the revival of global capital markets in the 1960s, cross-border capital flows have increased by orders of magnitude, so much so that international asset positions now outstrip global economic output. Most cross-border capital flows occur among industrialized nations, but emerging markets are increasing participants in the globalization of capital flows.
While it is widely recognized that investment is an important ingredient for economic growth, and that capital flows may under certain conditions be a valuable supplement to domestic savings for financing such investment, there is a growing concern that certain capital flows (such as short-term debt) can have destabilizing effects in developing countries.
Boston University’s Associate Professor Kevin Gallagher (an Institute grantee) discusses these issues in his new book, “Ruling Capital”. As Gallagher points out in the book and in the interview below, the 2008 global financial crisis has opened a new chapter in the debate over the proper policy responses to pro-cyclical capital flows. Until very recently certain strands of the economics profession as well as industrialized country national governments and international financial institutions have remained either hostile or silent to regulating capital movements. But there is no longer policy unanimity on this issue, which is in marked contrast to the period during the Asian Financial Crisis, where the so-called “Washington Consensus” dominated policy making in both the developed and developing world, and capital account liberalization remained paramount. Today, as Gallagher points out, a number of emerging economies, including Brazil, Taiwan, and South Korea, have been successfully experimenting with new capital account regulations (CARs) to manage volatile capital flows and managed to remain relatively unaffected by the turbulence brought about as the Fed began the process of unwinding its quantitative easing program. Even the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has come to partially recognize the appropriateness of capital account regulations and has gone so far as to recommend (and officially endorse) a set of guidelines regarding the appropriate use of CARs.
Gallagher develops a theory of countervailing monetary power that shows how emerging markets can and should counter domestic and international opposition to the regulation of cross-border flows, even as he acknowledges powerful attacks from a multiplicity of interests, seeking to undermine those very regulations.

As president of Blue Fly Productions Freeman produced and hosted an Austin based TV show "The Freeman Perspective" in which Freeman interviews some of the leading thinkers of our time such as, Michael Tsarion, Texe Marrs, Gaylon Ross, Dr. Michael Salla, Stewart and Janet Swerdlow, Eric Jon Phelps, Alan Watt, and exclusive interviews from magicians such as Paul Laffoley, Isaac Bonewitz, and Rex Diabolus Church of the Church of Satan.
Freeman performed in and documented the first ever all night Winter Solstice ceremony with the Mayans at the pyramids in Tikal. The film is in production and a short film of the event placed in the One Minute Shift competition for the Institute of Noetic Sciences.
Freeman's film subjects include the occult meanings of corporate logos, America's goddess, Columbia, weather modification and space-based weapons, chemtrails, ancient astronauts, Anna Nicole's death, Britney Spears and Disney mind control, cloning technology in the ancient past and today.

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State did what it's done frequently again Friday night, hanging with a ranked team deep into the second half. Then the Cowboys did what they've done too often, faded at the finish, falling to Texas, 62-50, at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
