Several houses were set alight in the Donetsk region of Makiivka on Friday, after they were shelled overnight.
Three 152 mm calibre shells were reportedly dropped on a house, causing the fire. Due to a recent drought the flames spread swiftly, but fire fighters on site did their best to control the blaze.

Makiivka
Makiivka (Ukrainian: Макіївка Ukrainian pronunciation: [mɑˈkijiu̯kɑ], translit. Makiyivka; Russian: Макеевка, translit. Makeyevka; former names: Dmytriivsk, Dmytriyevskyi) is an industrial city located in eastern Ukraine within the Donetsk Oblast (province), 15 kilometers (9.3 mi) from the capital Donetsk. Administratively, it is incorporated as a city of oblast significance. Population: 353,918 (2013 est.).
According to the 2001 Ukrainian Census, the city had 389,589 inhabitants, 178,475 (46%) were men and 211,114 (54%) were women. It is an important steel industry and coal mining centre of the country. Makiivka is a leading metallurgical and coal-mining centre and has machinery and coking plants. Donetsk and Makiivka are practically merged into a conurbation.

Three 152 mm calibre shells were reportedly dropped on a house, causing the fire. Due to a recent drought the flames spread swiftly, but fire fighters on site did their best to control the blaze.

Nick visited Donetsk, Ukraine, in 2012 to meet with his relatives and friends, that he haven't seen for decades! Thanks to Svetlana Shevchenko (now Tsurikova), Nick found his biological father's grave on central cemetery in Gorlovka near Donetsk (Nick was looking for his native father's grave for decades). Beside Gorlovka, Nick visited famous Svyatogorsk (Святогорская Лавра) with its amazing Оrthodax cathedrals (see upcoming video on youtube soon).
DONETSK' HISTORY: Donetsk is an industrial city officially in eastern Ukraine on the Kalmius River. Administratively, it is a centre of Donetsk Oblast, while historically, it is the unofficial capital and largest city of the larger economic and cultural Donets Basin (Donbas) region. The city of Donetsk is adjacent to another major city of Makiivka and along with other surrounding cities forms a major urban sprawl and conurbation in the region. Donetsk is a major economic, industrial and scientific centre of Ukraine with a high concentration of companies and a skilled workforce.
