Present

The present (or now) is the time that is associated with the events perceived directly and in the first time, not as a recollection (perceived more than once) or a speculation (predicted, hypothesis, uncertain). It is a period of time between the past and the future, and can vary in meaning from being an instant to a day or longer. In radiocarbon dating, the "present" is defined as AD 1950.

It is sometimes represented as a hyperplane in space-time, typically called "now", although modern physics demonstrates that such a hyperplane cannot be defined uniquely for observers in relative motion. The present may also be viewed as a duration (see specious present).

In Yoga

In Patanjali Yoga Sutras the first sutra defines Yoga as 'NOW'. By 'Chitta Vrithhi nirodha' (restraining the thought-streams) the present can be experienced. The moment a person thinks, he is recalling his past experience. He will never know the present. Being conscious or being aware is the only way to know the present.

Home Alone

Home Alone is a 1990 American Christmas comedy film written and produced by John Hughes and directed by Chris Columbus. The film stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin McCallister, a boy who is mistakenly left behind when his family flies to Paris for their Christmas vacation. Kevin initially relishes being home alone, but soon has to contend with two would-be burglars played by Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. The film also features Catherine O'Hara and John Heard as Kevin's parents.

Since its release, Home Alone has become the highest-grossing live action comedy film of all time in the US and was as well worldwide until The Hangover Part II in 2011. It is the highest grossing Christmas movie of all time at the North American box office (when adjusted for inflation).Home Alone has spawned a successful film franchise with four sequels, including the 1992 film Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, the only Home Alone sequel to have the original cast reprising their roles.

Plot

In Chicago, Illinois, the McCallister family is preparing for a Christmas vacation in Paris. On the night before their departure, the entire family gathers at Peter and Kate's home, where their 8-year-old son, Kevin, is ridiculed by his siblings and cousins. After a scuffle with his older brother, Buzz, Kevin is sent to the third floor of the house, where he wishes that his family would disappear. During the night, heavy winds cause damage to power lines, which causes the alarm clocks to reset; consequently, the family oversleeps. In the confusion and rush to get to the airport in time to catch their flight, Kevin is accidentally left behind.

Macaulay Culkin

Macaulay Carson Culkin (born August 26, 1980) is an American actor and musician. He became famous as a child actor for his role as Kevin McCallister in the family comedy Home Alone (1990) and its sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992). He is also known for his roles in Uncle Buck (1989), My Girl (1991), The Good Son (1993), The Pagemaster (1994), Richie Rich (1994), Party Monster (2003), and the music video for Michael Jackson's "Black or White". At the height of his fame, he was regarded as the most successful child actor since Shirley Temple. Culkin ranked at number two on VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Kid-Stars" and E!'s list of the "50 Greatest Child Stars".

Early life

Culkin was born in New York City. His father, Christopher Cornelius "Kit" Culkin, is a former actor known for his productions on Broadway and is the brother of actress Bonnie Bedelia. His mother is Patricia Brentrup, who never married Culkin. He was raised Roman Catholic, and attended a Catholic school (St. Joseph's School of Yorkville) for five years before moving on to Professional Children's School. He also studied ballet at the School of American Ballet.

Jack Dishel

Jack Dishel is an American musician, actor, writer, comic and producer. Born in the Soviet Union, he grew up in the US from the age of three. He releases and performs music under the band name Only Son and was previously the lead guitarist for The Moldy Peaches.

On December 17, 2015, Dishel launched his new web series, ":DRYVRS" starring Macaulay Culkin, which amassed over 6 million views on its first day of release and within its first week online had been viewed more than 20 million times.

Early life

Born Yevgeny Leonidovich Dishel to a Russian-Jewish family in what was then the Soviet Union, Jack moved to the United States as a three-year-old. He spent his early childhood in Queens, New York, before moving to Valley Stream at the age of nine. After graduating high school he attended SUNY Purchase College and subsequently moved to New York City to pursue music.

Only Son

Starting in 2006, Jack Dishel began releasing albums under the band name Only Son. Only Son's debut album, "The Drop to the Top" (2006) includes "My Museum", "Long Live The Future", "Sleepyface" and "Brand New Broken Heart". He toured the world in support of the album for two years opening for Regina Spektor and former bandmate Adam Green. Only Son sophomore album, entitled "Searchlight", was released January 18, 2011. He made seven videos from the album, including "Magic", (directed by VMA nominee Adria Petty), “It’s A Boy” (starring Boardwalk Empire’s Aleksa Palladino) and “Stamp Your Name On It” (featuring cameos by Macaulay Culkin and Reggie Watts). The video for “Call Them Brothers”, his duet with Regina Spektor, features archival family footage of Dishel as a child blended with new super 8mm footage of the two singers. All of the videos are on Only Son's YouTube channel.[6]
