The 193rd Our Gang short, a comedy series about a group of children; it's the 105th with talking. The gang of kids decide to run a floorshow in order to sell lemonade. George "Spanky" McFarland really stands out as a great lil' actor, it's got some quite funny scenes... other than that, it's like watching a school play, only not as painful as that.
What is noteworthy about the entire Our Gang franchise is that it was one of the first shows to portray black and white Americans as equals.
One of the funniest 'chase' scenes I can remember. I ALWAYS laugh my ass off at this!

This is from my collection of Our Gang Silent Films which are now all in the Public Domain and sadly, rarely seen anymore. I have added an opening title card and film credits at the end of each film.

Conceived probably in late 1921, not in mid-winter 1922, as Maltin & Bann state.
Filmed January 3 to 19, and February 2 to 17, 1922. See the 'miscellaneous' section below for more details.
The 1977 version of the book also states that the film was announced to the trade press in August, but then, during the section on "One Terrible Day" (no. 4), extends this to an announcement referring to the entire series. This would have still been prior to the first general release of the series.
Copyrighted October 11, 1922, by Pathé Exchange, Inc. Registration no. LU18302. Since the copyright was not renewed, this film is now in the public domain.
Released November 5, 1922. It was the 3rd film in the series to be released.
Silent two-reeler.
Probable opening title: 'Hal Roach presents His Rascals in "Our Gang".' The '"Our Gang" Comedies' heading would not have been used for the first version of the film, since the film title is what lead to the series name. However, the remake probably carried it, especially since the lobby poster does. Also used variously during the first year were '"Our Gang" Comedy' and '"Our Gang" Series.'

THE KIDS:
Ernie "Sunshine Sammy" Morrison
Featured role. He definitely appears in the remake, and almost certainly in the original version. He's essentially the leader of the gang in this film, having most of the ideas, and is featured strongly throughout the surviving footage. Maltin & Bann indicate that the "Sunshine Sammy" moniker was used, but this isn't the case in the existing footage. In the fragment screened by the Sons of the Desert, his name is given as "Sunny Jim," but even this may not be from an original inter-title. This is the same name used in one of the UK 9.5mm extracts. At one point in the original titles, the boys called him "Snowy," but this appears to be a bit of name-calling.
John Hatton
Featured role. He's the boy in the Little Lord Fauntleroy outfit who switches clothes with Ernie and becomes one of the gang. He's strongly featured throughout the surviving footage, and also has a lot of the ideas behind sabotaging the rival merchant's store. The non-original inter-titles refer to him as "Patrick Melrose," with the nickname "Pat."
Anna Mae Bilson as "Mary Jane"
Featured role. She's featured strongly throughout the surviving footage, and is pivotal to the plot, since she's part of the romantic triangle, and also is in danger of being put out on the street with her mother if they don't come up with the rent. Some of the UK footage changes her character name to "Flora," while in other parts it's "Mary." The name "Mary Jane" is from the original titles.
Mickey Daniels
Small part. He's the only member of the 'gang' besides Ernie that is given anything specific to do, since he fetches a doll from a nearby girl to coax Pat behind a fence so that the gang can steal his clothes for Ernie. In the surviving footage, his is little more than a bit part.
Jackie Condon
Small part. He appears as (presumably) Jimmy's little brother, who advises him to refine himself if he wants to compete with Pat. This is a fairly small part for Jackie, at least in the surviving footage. It isn't absolutely clear whether or not he appeared in the pilot version of the film.
THE ANIMALS:
Dinah the Mule
Supporting role. Dinah gets a fair amount of screentime in the surviving footage, kicking various objects (including people) towards various destinations for speedy delivery. In this film, she belongs to Ernie.
pony 001
Supporting role. The pony is owned in this film by Pat, and assists the boys in their act of sabotage. The UK footage uses the name "Dobbin" for the pony, but the titles aren't original.

The 193rd Our Gang short, a comedy series about a group of children; it's the 105th with talking. The gang of kids decide to run a floorshow in order to sell lemonade. George "Spanky" McFarland really stands out as a great lil' actor, it's got some quite funny scenes... other than that, it's like watching a school play, only not as painful as that. What is noteworthy about the entire Our Gang franchise is that it was one of the first shows to portray black and white Americans as equals. -

This is from my collection of Our Gang Silent Films which are now all in the Public Domain and sadly, rarely seen anymore. I have added an opening title card and film credits at the end of each film. Technical details thanks to TheLuckyCorner.com Production A-1. Conceived probably in late 1921, not in mid-winter 1922, as Maltin & Bann state. Filmed January 3 to 19, and February 2 to 17, 1922. See the 'miscellaneous' section below for more details. The 1977 version of the book also states that the film was announced to the trade press in August, but then, during the section on "One Terrible Day" (no. 4), extends this to an announcement referring to the entire series. Probable opening title: 'Hal Roach presents His Rascals in "Our Gang".' The '"Our Gang" Comedies' heading would not have been used for the first version of the film, since the film title is what lead to the series name. However, the remake probably carried it, especially since the lobby poster does. Also used variously during the first year were '"Our Gang" Comedy' and '"Our Gang" Series.'

THE KIDS:
Ernie "Sunshine Sammy" Morrison
Featured role. He definitely appears in the remake, and almost certainly in the original version. He's essentially the leader of the gang in this film, having most of the ideas, and is featured strongly throughout the surviving footage. Maltin & Bann indicate that the "Sunshine Sammy" moniker was used, but this isn't the case in the existing footage. In the fragment screened by the Sons of the Desert, his name is given as "Sunny Jim," but even this may not be from an original inter-title. This is the same name used in one of the UK 9.5mm extracts. At one point in the original titles, the boys called him "Snowy," but this appears to be a bit of name-calling.
John Hatton
Featured role. He's the boy in the Little Lord Fauntleroy outfit who switches clothes with Ernie and becomes one of the gang. He's strongly featured throughout the surviving footage, and also has a lot of the ideas behind sabotaging the rival merchant's store. The non-original inter-titles refer to him as "Patrick Melrose," with the nickname "Pat."
Anna Mae Bilson as "Mary Jane"
Featured role. She's featured strongly throughout the surviving footage, and is pivotal to the plot, since she's part of the romantic triangle, and also is in danger of being put out on the street with her mother if they don't come up with the rent. Some of the UK footage changes her character name to "Flora," while in other parts it's "Mary." The name "Mary Jane" is from the original titles.
Mickey Daniels
Small part. He's the only member of the 'gang' besides Ernie that is given anything specific to do, since he fetches a doll from a nearby girl to coax Pat behind a fence so that the gang can steal his clothes for Ernie. In the surviving footage, his is little more than a bit part.
Jackie Condon
Small part. He appears as (presumably) Jimmy's little brother, who advises him to refine himself if he wants to compete with Pat. This is a fairly small part for Jackie, at least in the surviving footage. It isn't absolutely clear whether or not he appeared in the pilot version of the film.
THE ANIMALS:
Dinah the Mule
Supporting role. Dinah gets a fair amount of screentime in the surviving footage, kicking various objects (including people) towards various destinations for speedy delivery. In this film, she belongs to Ernie.

With the help of Jay R. Smith, Joe has Harry pretend to be dead after Farina brushes him with a voodoo charm, and Farina is given the task of burying him or else be haunted forever. Joe and the gang rush ahead of Farina to the cemetary to scare him with more pranks ranging from puppets, props and costumes. However, in the midst of the frights, an eclipse occurs that ends up terrifying everyone. The wind blows laundry and balloons with faces across the cemetery, heightening the terrifying effect. The grave Farina digs is struck by lightning, creating a hole to an underground mausoleum. Soon Jay and Joe are knocked into it by barn animals, and then Farina drags Harry, wrapped in a sheet, to the hole and rolls him in. Farina exacts some revenge on the gang (except Jackie, who, while trying to run away, gets his pants caught on a branch), by hitting them on their heads with a shovel as they try to climb a ladder out, but eventually is butted into the hole by the same goat that knocked Joe in. With one of the balloon faces stuck on the top of his coat, Farina scares everyone else down there until the balloon pops. The gang finally climbs out just as the eclipse ends, and a final lightning bolt sends them scurrying off into the distance.

Spud (Donald Janney) wants to go camping with Wheezer (Bobby Hutchins) and Mary Ann (Mary Ann Jackson) and shoot a bunch of bears. Then they discover some bootleggers who dress up like an ape. I guess wackiness ensues. There's really not much else to say.

Wheezer gets excited watching his dog Pansy attack and rip apart the chickens and furniture in the back yard. His mother is upset, and his father takes his rifle to shoot the dog. Meanwhile, Joe Cobb has taught Pansy to play dead, and after the deed is done, he wants to hide the dog at Farina and Zuccini's house. Farina refuses, claiming the dog eats too much. Meanwhile, a movie with police shooting at criminals is being filmed on the street, and they need a trained dog. Joe and Pansy ride with the film crew, leaving the rest of the gang to sneak into the studio, disrupting Pansy's big scene and then leading the carnage across the other sets being filmed. The police and several actors in animal costumes chase the gang all over the set, and periodically several of them run through a door and drop several feet into water. Eventually, the gang takes refuge during a great pie fight, using the pastries filled with gunpowder to defend themselves along with a big wind machine before finally getting captured and thrown over a wall.
