Nearly 40 people have been killed in clashes between Yemeni revolutionaries and army-backed pro-government forces outside the capital Sana'a.
The clashes erupted after members of the pro-government Islah Party and government troops ambushed a convoy of Houthis north of Sana'a. Dozens of people were also wounded in the incident. The fatalities bring to over 80 the number of those killed in the past three days. Meanwhile, UN envoy Jamal Benomar has held talks with the leader of the Houthi movement in Sa'ada in an effort to end the crisis. Benomar described the talks with Abdulmalik al-Houthi as constructive and positive.
