The Reeperbahn (German pronunciation: [ˈʀeːpɐˌbaːn]) is a street in Hamburg's St. Pauli district, one of the two centres of Hamburg's nightlife and also the city's red-light district. In German it is also sometimes described as die sündigste Meile (the most sinful mile).
The name Reeperbahn / Mostonbahn means ropewalk, which is a place where ropes are made (Low German Reep = rope, the standard German word is Seil; Bahn= track). Until the 1620s Hamburg's ropewalks had been located in the Neustadt (New Town) quarter of the inner city close to the Elbe, which then became a densely built up area. Therefore the ropewalks "had to be relocated outside the city walls on the country road leading toward Altona – which later took on the street name 'Reperbahn'." The street was a ropewalk in the 17th and 18th centuries.
The street is lined with restaurants, night clubs, discotheques and bars. There are also strip clubs, sex shops, brothels, a sex museum and similar businesses.
Reeperbahn is a Hamburg S-Bahn station in St. Pauli, Hamburg, Germany, located at the eastern end of the Reeperbahn. Reeperbahn station is part of the City S-Bahn tunnel from Hamburg main station in St. Georg to Hamburg-Altona station in Altona, and opened on 21 April 1979.
The underground station consists of two levels with a mezzanine and a station level with one island platform, two tracks and two exits. At the exit Nobistor is a bus stop and a taxicab stand. The station can also be used as an air-raid shelter. The station is not accessible for handicapped persons, because there is no lift.
On track 1 the trains in destination Wedel, Pinneberg and Altona and on track 2 the trains in destination Stade, Bergedorf and Poppenbüttel are calling Reeperbahn in the rush hours every 2 to 3 minutes.

SUBSCRIBE ► http://shorturl.at/etK26 - Hamburg, Germany - the Red Light district. Let's go for a walk around Hamburg's world famous red light district on a warm Saturday autumn night. Hamburg, a major port city in northern Germany, is connected to the North Sea by the Elbe River. It's crossed by hundreds of canals, and also contains large areas of parkland. Near its core, Inner Alster lake is dotted with boats and surrounded by cafes. The city's central Jungfernstieg boulevard connects the Neustadt (new town) with the Altstadt (old town), home to landmarks like 18th-century St. Michael’s Church. #VicStefanu
