For the past 13 years, we've been filming brown trout. Engaging in some of the more interesting browns, we've learned an immense amount about brown trout, their behaviour, their tendencies, how they interact with their environment and what it takes to catch them consistently. We've literally spent an average of 150 to 175 days a year doing nothing else as we've fly fished the province of Alberta, Canada, the south island of New Zealand, and touched on a few waters of Montana in the USA. This film is a compilation of some of our favourite moments engaged with brown trout and highlites much of what we've learned along the way. I was fishing at a small stream in New York during summer (early September). The stream isn't stocked and feeds into a chain of rivers, so it mostly holds native brook trout and wild brown trout. I was drifting nightcrawlers and worms in every corner of a big pool along the small creek, and I managed to catch some great brook trout and brown trout considering the creek is only 8' wide or less in most spots.

Very comfortable 3 bedroom double glazed Fraemohs cottage built 1997 Sleeps 8 3 bedrooms and is fully equipped with Fridge/Freezer, 50 inch flat screen Colour TV, Video, DVD, Freeview, Thermowave Oven, Microwave, Carpet, Smartdrive washing machine, Tumble Dryer, hooded BBQ, and has excellent heating.
There is a 180 degree view of the lake which will keep you captivated for hours!!.
You will need to take with you sheets or Sleeping Bags Tea Towels and Towels Pillow Cases and of course Sustenance.
All other bedding, cooking utensils etc are provided.
A VHS/TV in one of the bedrooms will keep the kids amused on those rainy days. The DVD also plugs into this tv.
Bed layout: Bedroom 1, Queen, Bedroom 2, 1 bunk, Bedroom 3, 2 bunks. Bunks are same size as a single beds as the bunks were made to match the wooden Fraemohs home.
There is a wonderful view of the lake which will keep you captivated for hours.
Fishing is great I regularly catch the limit bag of 4 brown trout. Just ask for fishing tips, best times to fish, etc.

Brown trout
The brown trout (Salmo trutta) is a European species of salmonid fish that has been widely introduced into suitable environments globally. It includes both purely freshwater populations, referred to Salmo trutta morpha fario and S. trutta morpha lacustris, and anadromous forms known as the sea trout, S. trutta morpha trutta. The latter migrates to the oceans for much of its life and returns to fresh water only to spawn. Sea trout in the UK and Ireland have many regional names, including sewin (Wales), finnock (Scotland), peal (West Country), mort (North West England), and white trout (Ireland).
The lacustrine morph of brown trout is most usually potamodromous, migrating from lakes into rivers or streams to spawn, although evidence indicates stocks spawn on wind-swept shorelines of lakes. S. trutta morpha fario forms stream-resident populations, typically in alpine streams, but sometimes in larger rivers. Anadromous and nonanadromous morphs coexisting in the same river appear genetically identical. What determines whether or not they migrate remains unknown.

Operation Fishy Rescue!! Saving baby trout, stream drying up
OPERATION FISHY RESCUE!!! The stream out behind my house has been drying up the last few years (GLOBAL WARMING!?!) and this year has actually gone dry leaving baby rainbow/ brown trout stranded...and a crayfish. I check the stream every other day to clean out garbage that comes downstream, mostly plastic bags and cups, fabric and a lot of broken glass. I can easily fill a bag everytime I go down sadly. But these poor baby/ fingerling trout have been stranded in tiny pools or really puddles of water making them easy prey to birds as well as less food and room for these growing fish. So in came operation Fishy Rescue where I gather them up, mostly by hand and brought them to a deeper pool and started feeding them little bits of bread for now. In this episode of FLY TV, Steffan Jensen from Fly-Dressing and Henrik Wallberg from Scandi Fly Guides are doing some fly fishing for sea run brown trout on the Swedish west coast, close to Gothenburg. The Northern wind and clear sky makes the fishing quite hard, but with natural shrimp flies, sink 2 lines and some sight fishing they manage to get some hook-ups from the silvery sea trout!
