Wang Rong

Wang Rong (Chinese: 王鎔; 877?-921), was a warlord in the final years of the Tang dynasty who later became the only ruler of the state of Zhao during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. Late in Tang, he initially tried to chart an independent course between the more powerful warlords Zhu Quanzhong and Li Keyong, but later was forced to become Zhu's vassal, although he continued to govern his domain without much interference from Zhu. After Zhu declared himself the emperor of a new dynasty of Later Liang (as Emperor Taizu), Wang continued to serve as a vassal and was created the Prince of Zhao. Later, though, when the Later Liang emperor tried to seize the Zhao domain by force, Wang broke away from Later Liang and realigned with Li Keyong's son and successor Li Cunxu the Prince of Jin instead. In 921, Wang was overthrown and killed in a coup led by his adoptive son Wang Deming, who subsequently took over his domain and changed back to the birth name of Zhang Wenli, before dying later in the year; Li Cunxu then defeated and killed Zhang's son and successor Zhang Chujin, incorporating Zhao into his Jin state.

Wang Rong (Jin dynasty)

Wang Rong (234–305), courtesy name Junchong (濬沖), was an official-scholar of the Western Jin dynasty in Chinese history.

Wang Rong served under Jin as the 3rd East General. Wang Rong participated during the final conquest of Eastern Wu, where he led his army as far as to that of Wuchang (武昌, present day Ezhou, not to be confused with Wuchang, Hubei, which was called Xiakou 夏口 at the time). Following this, Wang Rong's army merged with Wang Jun's and they advanced towards the Wu capital Jianye. Later, Wang Rong became very well known throughout the Jin dynasty for being one of the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove.

Wang Rong (simplified Chinese: 王荣; traditional Chinese: 王榮; pinyin: Wáng Róng; born April 1958) is a Chinese politician who has served in prominent regional posts in Jiangsu and Guangdong provinces. He is currently serving as the Chairman of the Guangdong People's Political Consultative Conference, a mostly ceremonial political advisory body.

Wang spent much of his career in his native Jiangsu province. He has an academic background in the field of agriculture. He served successively as the party chief of the cities of Wuxi and Suzhou in Jiangsu, before being transferred in 2010 to serve as acting mayor, then Party Secretary of Shenzhen, a position he served in until 2015. Wang is an alternate member of the 17th and 18th Central Committees of the Communist Party.

Career

Early life and academic career

Born in 1958 in Binhai County, in northern Jiangsu province, Wang worked in a rural commune in the latter years of the Cultural Revolution. He joined the Communist Party in 1976, the year Mao died. He became part of the first batch of students to return to school after China's higher education system was dismantled as part of the Cultural Revolution.
