The Pontifical Anthem or Papal Anthem is the official anthem of the Pope, and serves as the national anthem of the Holy See and the Vatican City State. It is played at solemn occasions of the State and ceremonies in which the Pope or one of his representatives is present.
The music was composed in 1869 by Charles Gounod, for the celebration on April 11, 1869 of Pope Pius IX's golden jubilee of priestly ordination. On October 16, 1949, Pope Pius XII decided that it would become the papal anthem, replacing Viktorin Hallmayer's Marcia trionfale (1857), which, being still the papal anthem when the Vatican City State was founded in 1929, had been treated also as the new state's anthem.
While the Papal Anthem serves as the official anthem for the Vatican State, the Vatican stresses that it "is not to be understood as a national anthem"; it is a composition whose words and music "speak to the heart of many throughout the world who see in Rome the See of Peter."
I mean no offense to the countries parodied. In fact, most of these countries are my favorites, and I wish them all my best. The Vatican City State is by far my favorite theocracy.

The "CITY" in London
The "City", also known as the "square mile" an area of 677 hectares in London is just like the Vatican City in Rome their own state. The City-State, pays no tax, has its own courts, its own laws, their own flag, their own private police at about 2,000 men, and a night population that underestimates 9000 inhabitants.
Here are the Bank of England, a privately owned institution which is not subject to regulation by the British Parliament, and in fact is a sovereign world power. Moreover, Lloyds of London (insurance), London Stock Exchange (stock exchange) Fleet Streets newspapers and publishing, offices in all British banks, offices in 385 foreign banks, and 70 U.S. banks.
Internationally they use the "Crown Princess" as a symbol of power but the real power belongs to the bankers and not the royal house. It is very difficult to gain an insight into the persons who effectively control the Bank of England. A name that leaked is Rothschild.
The "City of London" is an economic entity which is legally separate from England and in control of all lawyers and banks across the world - including the Federal Reserve in the USA! We noticed that people are very curious and that when they visit the website, they often look for webcams and for pictures of the Vatican gardens. So we thought that it might be good to add the service of this weather station to see if that might also generate more interest.
www.vaticanstate.va normally has 3,000 visitors per day but after the launching of the new weather service it gained more popularity.

Although this service doesnt provide a weather forecast, it does give the 800 inhabitants of the Vatican the opportunity to check the current temperature, wind speed, air pressure and amount of rain that falls in Vatican City.

The Vatican City State is not the same as the Vatican. The Church is 2,000 years old, but the Vatican City State with its small borders is only 80 years old.
To celebrate the anniversary, the Vatican City State has organized an exhibit of its artefacts and documents that cover its brief history.
One of the most important documents is the Lateran Treaty, which recognized the independence and sovereignty of the smallest country in the world.

The Lateran Treaty recognizes the Holy See on an international level as the central government of the Catholic Church, and then Italy and the Holy See mutually recognize each other.
The exhibit includes the table and the original chairs that were used for signing the treaty.

This is the table on which Cardinal Pietro Gasparri, who was Secretary of State, and Benito Mussolini, who was the head of the Italian government, signed the treaty documents in the Lateran Palace.
Since becoming a state, the Vatican has its own postal, telephone and electrical system. It also has its own process to apply for citizenship, which is not hereditary and cannot be claimed through birth on its soil. It depends on the work that is done in the service of the State.
Cardinals, members of pontifical councils, the Swiss Guards, and lay employees of the Vatican are the only ones who have it.
Most of the buildings are not from the Renaissance. Topographic images, architectural designs, and this giant scale model on display show exactly what is inside the Vatican walls today.

The exhibit includes other artefacts, the most memorable being this tiara belonging to Pius XI, this feather cape, or this 1929 Citroen Lictoria, considered one of the first popemobiles. .

A city-state is an independent or autonomous entity whose territory consists of a city which is not administered as a part of another local government. The Pontifical Anthem or Papal Anthem is the official anthem of the Pope, and serves as the national anthem of the Holy See and the Vatican City State. It is played at solemn occasions of the State and ceremonies in which the Pope or one of his representatives is present. The music was composed in 1869 by Charles Gounod, for the celebration on April 11, 1869 of Pope Pius IX's golden jubilee of priestly ordination. On October 16, 1949, Pope Pius XII decided that it would become the papal anthem, replacing Viktorin Hallmayer's Marcia trionfale (1857), which, being still the papal anthem when the Vatican City State was founded in 1929, had been treated also as the new state's anthem. While the Papal Anthem serves as the official anthem for the Vatican State, the Vatican stresses that it "is not to be understood as a national anthem"; it is a composition whose words and music "speak to the heart of many throughout the world who see in Rome the See of Peter." So we thought that it might be good to add the service of this weather station to see if that might also generate more interest. www.vaticanstate.va normally has 3,000 visitors per day but after the launching of the new weather service it gained more popularity. The Vatican City State is not the same as the Vatican. The Church is 2,000 years old, but the Vatican City State with its small borders is only 80 years old. To celebrate the anniversary, the Vatican City State has organized an exhibit of its artefacts and documents that cover its brief history. One of the most important documents is the Lateran Treaty, which recognized the independence and sovereignty of the smallest country in the world. Msgr. Renato Boccardo Secretary of the Governatorate of Vatican City State The Lateran Treaty recognizes the Holy See on an international level as the central government of the Catholic Church, and then Italy and the Holy See mutually recognize each other. The exhibit includes the table and the original chairs that were used for signing the treaty. Msgr. Renato Boccardo Secretary of the Governatorate of Vatican City State This is the table on which Cardinal Pietro Gasparri, who was Secretary of State, and Benito Mussolini, who was the head of the Italian government, signed the treaty documents in the Lateran Palace. Since becoming a state, the Vatican has its own postal, telephone and electrical system. It also has its own process to apply for citizenship, which is not hereditary and cannot be claimed through birth on its soil. It depends on the work that is done in the service of the State. Cardinals, members of pontifical councils, the Swiss Guards, and lay employees of the Vatican are the only ones who have it. Most of the buildings are not from the Renaissance. Topographic images, architectural designs, and this giant scale model on display show exactly what is inside the Vatican walls today. Msgr. The Pontifical Anthem or Papal Anthem is the official anthem of the Pope, and serves as the national anthem of the Holy See and the Vatican City State. It is played at solemn occasions of the State and ceremonies in which the Pope or one of his representatives is present.
The music was composed in 1869 by Charles Gounod, for the celebration on April 11, 1869 of Pope Pius IX's golden jubilee of priestly ordination. On October 16, 1949, Pope Pius XII decided that it would become the papal anthem, replacing Viktorin Hallmayer's Marcia trionfale (1857), which, being still the papal anthem when the Vatican City State was founded in 1929, had been treated also as the new state's anthem.
While the Papal Anthem serves as the official anthem for the Vatican State, the Vatican stresses that it "is not to be understood as a national anthem"; it is a composition whose words and music "speak to the heart of many throughout the world who see in Rome the See of Peter."
I mean no offense to the countries parodied. In fact, most of these countries are my favorites, and I wish them all my best. The Vatican City State is by far my favorite theocracy.

Vatican City - RELIGION: The Pope wants to merge all the religions into one, which is absolute nonsense. The Pope broke off from the truth (confusingly referred to as The 'Eastern Church' or 'Eastern Orthodox Church' or 'Orthodox Church' or 'Orthodox') about 1000 years ago.
Washington DC - MILITARY: Death camps and stacks of black plastic coffins that can hold six to ten bodies each, are piled high in a long train-like fashion, as far as the eye can see, in the United States, today.
These three are sovereign, corporate entities that are not part of the countries they are located in. They have their own laws, and identities, as indicated by their respective flags

The "City", also known as the "square mile" an area of 677 hectares in London is just like the Vatican City in Rome their own state. The City-State, pays no tax, has its own courts, its own laws, their own flag, their own private police at about 2,000 men, and a night population that underestimates 9000 inhabitants.
Here are the Bank of England, a privately owned institution which is not subject to regulation by the British Parliament, and in fact is a sovereign world power. Moreover, Lloyds of London (insurance), London Stock Exchange (stock exchange) Fleet Streets newspapers and publishing, offices in all British banks, offices in 385 foreign banks, and 70 U.S. banks.
Internationally they use the "Crown Princess" as a symbol of power but the real power belongs to the bankers and not the royal house. It is very difficult to gain an insight into the persons who effectively control the Bank of England. A name that leaked is Rothschild.
The "City of London" is an economic entity which is legally separate from England and in control of all lawyers and banks across the world - including the Federal Reserve in the USA! The "City" is also the English seat of the world's Freemasonry with the United Grand Lodge of England as the center...

We noticed that people are very curious and that when they visit the website, they often look for webcams and for pictures of the Vatican gardens. So we thought that it might be good to add the service of this weather station to see if that might also generate more interest.
www.vaticanstate.va normally has 3,000 visitors per day but after the launching of the new weather service it gained more popularity.

This is a rather simple collection of instruments which take the various measurements of the weather. The data is processed and then posted online.
Although this service doesnt provide a weather forecast, it does give the 800 inhabitants of the Vatican the opportunity to check the current temperature, wind speed, air pressure and amount of rain that falls in Vatican City.
Apart from the Vaticans weather, you can also check out webcams focused on St. Peters square, Castel Gandolfo and John Paul IIs tomb. .

To celebrate the anniversary, the Vatican City State has organized an exhibit of its artefacts and documents that cover its brief history.
One of the most important documents is the Lateran Treaty, which recognized the independence and sovereignty of the smallest country in the world.

The Lateran Treaty recognizes the Holy See on an international level as the central government of the Catholic Church, and then Italy and the Holy See mutually recognize each other.
The exhibit includes the table and the original chairs that were used for signing the treaty.

This is the table on which Cardinal Pietro Gasparri, who was Secretary of State, and Benito Mussolini, who was the head of the Italian government, signed the treaty documents in the Lateran Palace.
Since becoming a state, the Vatican has its own postal, telephone and electrical system. It also has its own process to apply for citizenship, which is not hereditary and cannot be claimed through birth on its soil. It depends on the work that is done in the service of the State.
Cardinals, members of pontifical councils, the Swiss Guards, and lay employees of the Vatican are the only ones who have it.

The Vatican City State is not the same as the Vatican. The Church is 2,000 years old, but the Vatican City State with its small borders is only 80 years old.
To celebrate the anniversary, the Vatican City State has organized an exhibit of its artefacts and documents that cover its brief history.
One of the most important documents is the Lateran Treaty, which recognized the independence and sovereignty of the smallest country in the world.

The Lateran Treaty recognizes the Holy See on an international level as the central government of the Catholic Church, and then Italy and the Holy See mutually recognize each other.
The exhibit includes the table and the original chairs that were used for signing the treaty.

This is the table on which Cardinal Pietro Gasparri, who was Secretary of State, and Benito Mussolini, who was the head of the Italian government, signed the treaty documents in the Lateran Palace.
Since becoming a state, the Vatican has its own postal, telephone and electrical system. It also has its own process to apply for citizenship, which is not hereditary and cannot be claimed through birth on its soil. It depends on the work that is done in the service of the State.
Cardinals, members of pontifical councils, the Swiss Guards, and lay employees of the Vatican are the only ones who have it.

Vatican City was established as an independent state in 1929 by the Lateran Treaty, signed by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Gasparri, on behalf of Pope Pius XI and by Prime Minister and Head of Government Benito Mussolini on behalf of King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy. Vatican City State is distinct from the Holy See, which dates back to early Christianity and is the main episcopal see of 1.2 billion Latin and Eastern Catholic adherents around the globe.
The Lateran Treaty in 1929, which brought the city-state into existence, spoke of it as a new creation (Preamble and Article III), not as a vestige of the much larger Papal States (756--1870) that had previously encompassed much of central Italy. Most of this territory was absorbed into the Kingdom of Italy in 1860, and the final portion, namely the city of Rome with Lazio, ten years later, in 1870.
Vatican City is an ecclesiastical or sacerdotal-monarchical state, ruled by the Bishop of Rome—the Pope. The highest state functionaries are all Catholic clergymen of various national origins. It is the sovereign territory of the Holy See (Sancta Sedes) and the location of the Pope's residence, referred to as the Apostolic Palace.
The Popes have generally resided in the area that in 1929 became Vatican City since the return from Avignon in 1377, but have also at times resided in the Quirinal Palace in Rome and elsewhere. Previously, they resided in the Lateran Palace on the Caelian Hill on the far side of Rome from the Vatican. Emperor Constantine gave this site to Pope Miltiades in 313. 1. St. Peter’s Basilica is the largest Catholic church in the world. In case anyone wishes to refute this fact, the Church has actually placed the measurements of the largest churches in the world in the marble of the Nave to prove that all other basilicas are able to fit within the Basilica. The art in St. Peter’s itself is mostly mosaics, although they resemble paintings. In order to ensure that the artwork in the church would persevere, most “paintings” are actually mosaics.
2. The baldacchino, or the center altar of St. Peter’s, lies directly over where St. Peter, the first pope, is buried. It is 96 feet high, made from bronze mostly stripped from ancient Roman monuments such as the Pantheon, and the only person who is permitted to say mass at this altar is the pope.
3. The Institute for Works of Religion, also known as the Vatican Bank is a bank situated in the Vatican that conducts worldwide financial activities. It has an ATM with instructions in Latin, possibly the only such ATM in the world.
4. Benito Mussolini signed Vatican City into existence. The dispute between the Italian government and the Catholic Church ended in 1929 with the signing of the Lateran Pacts, which allowed the Vatican to exist as its own sovereign state and compensated the church $92 million (more than $1 billion in today’s money) for the Papal States. The Vatican used the payment as seed money to re-grow its coffers. Mussolini, the head of the Italian government, signed the treaty on behalf of King Victor Emmanuel III. To this day Vatican City is the only widely recognized independent state that has not become a member of the United Nations.
5. The Swiss Guard was hired as a mercenary force. The Swiss Guard, recognizable by its armor and colorful Renaissance-era uniforms, has been protecting the pontiff since 1506. That’s when Pope Julius II, following in the footsteps of many European courts of the time, hired one of the Swiss mercenary forces for his personal protection. The Swiss Guard’s role in Vatican City is strictly to protect the safety of the pope. Although the world’s smallest standing army appears to be strictly ceremonial, its soldiers are extensively trained and highly skilled marksmen. And, yes, the force is entirely comprised of Swiss citizens.
6. The Vatican is an absolute monarchy. Full legislative, judicial and executive authority resides with the pope. That means that Vatican City can never join the EU, since a candidate state must be a free market democracy. However as it is so small, and surrounded by an EU state, it is intrinsically linked to the EU.
7. The Vatican City is a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the only site to encompass a whole country.

1. St. Peter’s Basilica is the largest Catholic church in the world. In case anyone wishes to refute this fact, the Church has actually placed the measurements of the largest churches in the world in the marble of the Nave to prove that all other basilicas are able to fit within the Basilica. The art in St. Peter’s itself is mostly mosaics, although they resemble paintings. In order to ensure that the artwork in the church would persevere, most “paintings” are actually mosaics.
2. The baldacchino, or the center altar of St. Peter’s, lies directly over where St. Peter, the first pope, is buried. It is 96 feet high, made from bronze mostly stripped from ancient Roman monuments such as the Pantheon, and the only person who is permitted to say mass at this altar is the pope.
3. The Institute for Works of Religion, also known as the Vatican Bank is a bank situated in the Vatican that conducts worldwide financial activities. It has an ATM with instructions in Latin, possibly the only such ATM in the world.
4. Benito Mussolini signed Vatican City into existence. The dispute between the Italian government and the Catholic Church ended in 1929 with the signing of the Lateran Pacts, which allowed the Vatican to exist as its own sovereign state and compensated the church $92 million (more than $1 billion in today’s money) for the Papal States. The Vatican used the payment as seed money to re-grow its coffers. Mussolini, the head of the Italian government, signed the treaty on behalf of King Victor Emmanuel III. To this day Vatican City is the only widely recognized independent state that has not become a member of the United Nations.
5. The Swiss Guard was hired as a mercenary force. The Swiss Guard, recognizable by its armor and colorful Renaissance-era uniforms, has been protecting the pontiff since 1506. That’s when Pope Julius II, following in the footsteps of many European courts of the time, hired one of the Swiss mercenary forces for his personal protection. The Swiss Guard’s role in Vatican City is strictly to protect the safety of the pope. Although the world’s smallest standing army appears to be strictly ceremonial, its soldiers are extensively trained and highly skilled marksmen. And, yes, the force is entirely comprised of Swiss citizens.
6. The Vatican is an absolute monarchy. Full legislative, judicial and executive authority resides with the pope. That means that Vatican City can never join the EU, since a candidate state must be a free market democracy. However as it is so small, and surrounded by an EU state, it is intrinsically linked to the EU.
7. The Vatican City is a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the only site to encompass a whole country.

The unique economy of Vatican City is supported financially by the sale of postage stamps and tourist mementos, fees for admission to museums, and the sale of publications. The independent city-state was established in 1929 by the Lateran Treaty, signed by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Gasparri, on behalf of Pope Pius XI and by Prime Minister Benito Mussolini on behalf of King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy. La Ciudad del Vaticano propiamente dicha tiene una extensión de 0,439 km² (44 hectáreas) y una población de aproximadamente 900 habitantes,2 por lo que resulta un híbrido de ciudad elevada al rango de Estado independiente, siendo además el país más pequeño del mundo, y el único que tiene por lengua oficial el latín. Vatican City, or Vatican City State, is a landlocked sovereign city-state whose territory consists of a walled enclave within the city of Rome. It has an area of approximately 44 hectares (110 acres), and a population of just over 800. This makes Vatican City the smallest independent state in the world by both area and population.
Vatican City was established as an independent state in 1929 by the Lateran Treaty, signed by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Gasparri, on behalf of Pope Pius XI and by Prime Minister and Head of Government Benito Mussolini on behalf of King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy. Vatican City State is distinct from the Holy See, which dates back to early Christianity and is the main episcopal see of 1.2 billion Latin and Eastern Catholic adherents around the globe.
The Lateran Treaty in 1929, which brought the city-state into existence, spoke of it as a new creation (Preamble and Article III), not as a vestige of the much larger Papal States (756--1870) that had previously encompassed much of central Italy. Most of this territory was absorbed into the Kingdom of Italy in 1860, and the final portion, namely the city of Rome with Lazio, ten years later, in 1870.
Vatican City is an ecclesiastical or sacerdotal-monarchical state, ruled by the Bishop of Rome—the Pope. The highest state functionaries are all Catholic clergymen of various national origins. It is the sovereign territory of the Holy See (Sancta Sedes) and the location of the Pope's residence, referred to as the Apostolic Palace.
The Popes have generally resided in the area that in 1929 became Vatican City since the return from Avignon in 1377, but have also at times resided in the Quirinal Palace in Rome and elsewhere. Previously, they resided in the Lateran Palace on the Caelian Hill on the far side of Rome from the Vatican. Emperor Constantine gave this site to Pope Miltiades in 313. The signing of the agreements that established the new state took place in the latter building, giving rise to the name of Lateran Pacts, by which they are known.

Tradition and some historical evidence hold that Saint Peter's tomb is directly below the altar of the basilica. For this reason, many Popes have been interred at St. Peter's since the Early Christian period. There has been a church on this site since the 4th century. Construction of the present basilica, over the old Constantinian basilica, began on 18 April 1506 and was completed on 18 November 1626.

It is associated with the papacy, with the Counter-reformation and with numerous artists, most significantly Michelangelo. The most famous of all is the Bridge of Sighs, which connects Doge’s Palace to the historic prison.
Venice is a city to get lost in, so put away your map and let her surprise you. Discover waterfront promenades of The Zattere and the sleepy canals and spacious piazzas of Castello. On the tiny island of Murano, glassmakers have been creating works of incredible delicacy and color for over 700 years. Further across the lagoon, the island of Burano is famed for its brightly colored houses and exquisite lace.
