Well if you’ve got a big family but you still love the opportunity to put your foot down from time to time, then you may need to look no further! Not only does it come with 7 seats on the inside, but with a 2-litre turbo 4 cylinder under the bonnet, the GLB 35 can put down 306hp & 400Nm of torque!
But the engine isn’t the only upgrade over the standard GLB. It's also graced with both AWD & launch control, and there are a host of styling upgrades including a roof spoiler, updated bumpers at the front & back, as well as an AMG grille and 20-inch alloy wheels!

Mercedes has added another SUV into its already-crowded high-riding line-up, but does the GLB do enough to justify its existence? And should families consider one over a GLA or GLC?
Tung Nguyen spent three months with his family aboard the GLB250 to find out.
If you actually sit there and tally up the Mercedes-Benz SUV line-up, it counts no less than six models, including the GLA, GLS, EQC, G-Class, GLE and GLC – and that’s not even counting the Coupe versions of the latter two.
Apparently, that isn’t enough, though, as the German brand now has a box-fresh SUV on the market in the form of the GLB.
But what is it and how does it stand out from the rest of the high riders wearing a Mercedes badge?
First of all, the GLB is classed as a medium SUV, despite being based on the same MFA2 architecture as Mercedes’ small cars such as the A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA.
Three versions of the GLB are available in Australia, the GLB 200 for $59,900 before on-road costs, the GLB 250 for $73,900 and the AMG-tuned GLB 35 for $88,900.
We’ve snagged the keys to the mid-tier 250 for the next three months, which we’ll be using as our family runabout to see if this is all the car you could ever need.
Powering the 250 is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, outputting a sizeable 165kW/350Nm to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
With plenty of performance on tap, coming away at the lights and overtaking at freeway speeds are both effortless and enjoyable in the GLB 250, not a trait you’d often associate with a family SUV.
It’s good value, too (even in mid-tier GLB 250 form), as the entry-point to the GLC range is only $3600 cheaper than our test car and has a less potent engine, is only rear-wheel drive and doesn’t afford the flexibility of seven seats.

While its exterior design already hints at the inherent DNA of the classic Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the interior of the new Mercedes-Benz GLB wows with a spacious cabin, room for seven people, a stunning level of comfort and up to 1,805 litres of luggage compartment capacity.
Follow along as Leonie discovers the fully digital cockpit including MBUX with “Hey Mercedes” voice control and augmented reality navigation as well as intelligent safety and assistance systems coming from higher tiers. Oh, and did we mention the built-in spa treatment? Nobody said a car that can go off-road would need to go without the innovative luxuries that make life easier.

Galactosidase, beta 1, also known as GLB1, is a protein which in humans is encoded by the GLB1 gene.
The GLB1 protein is a beta-galactosidase that cleaves the terminal beta-galactose from ganglioside substrates and other glycoconjugates. The GLB1 gene also encodes an elastin binding protein.
In corn (Zea mays), Glb1 is a gene coding for the storage protein globulin.
Clinical significance
GM1-gangliosidosis is a lysosomal storage disease that can be caused by a deficiency of β-galactosidase (GLB1). Some cases of Morquio syndrome B have been shown to be due to GLP1 mutations that cause patients to have abnormal elastic fibers.
Elastin receptor
The RNA transcript of the GLB1 gene is alternatively spliced and produces 2 mRNAs. The 2.5-kilobase transcript encodes the beta-galactosidase enzyme of 677 amino acids. The alternative 2.0-kb mRNA encodes a beta-galactosidase-related protein (S-Gal) that is only 546 amino acids long and that has no enzymatic activity. The S-Gal protein does bind elastin and fragments of elastin that are generated by proteolysis.

Mercedes has added another SUV into its already-crowded high-riding line-up, but does the GLB do enough to justify its existence? And should families consider one over a GLA or GLC?
Tung Nguyen spent three months with his family aboard the GLB250 to find out.
If you actually sit there and tally up the Mercedes-Benz SUV line-up, it counts no less than six models, including the GLA, GLS, EQC, G-Class, GLE and GLC – and that’s not even counting the Coupe versions of the latter two.
Apparently, that isn’t enough, though, as the German brand now has a box-fresh SUV on the market in the form of the GLB.
But what is it and how does it stand out from the rest of the high riders wearing a Mercedes badge?
First of all, the GLB is classed as a medium SUV, despite being based on the same MFA2 architecture as Mercedes’ small cars such as the A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA.
Three versions of the GLB are available in Australia, the GLB 200 for $59,900 before on-road costs, the GLB 250 for $73,900 and the AMG-tuned GLB 35 for $88,900.
We’ve snagged the keys to the mid-tier 250 for the next three months, which we’ll be using as our family runabout to see if this is all the car you could ever need.
Powering the 250 is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, outputting a sizeable 165kW/350Nm to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
With plenty of performance on tap, coming away at the lights and overtaking at freeway speeds are both effortless and enjoyable in the GLB 250, not a trait you’d often associate with a family SUV.
It’s good value, too (even in mid-tier GLB 250 form), as the entry-point to the GLC range is only $3600 cheaper than our test car and has a less potent engine, is only rear-wheel drive and doesn’t afford the flexibility of seven seats.

This is the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35, and Mat’s on hand to find out whether this performance SUV is the ultimate family car you can buy in 2021!
And why could it be the ultimate family car, we hear you ask? Well if you’ve got a big family but you still love the opportunity to put your foot down from time to time, then you may need to look no further! Not only does it come with 7 seats on the inside, but with a 2-litre turbo 4 cylinder under the bonnet, the GLB 35 can put down 306hp & 400Nm of torque!
But the engine isn’t the only upgrade over the standard GLB. It's also graced with both AWD & launch control, and there are a host of styling upgrades including a roof spoiler, updated bumpers at the front & back, as well as an AMG grille and 20-inch alloy wheels!
There’s one problem though… It costs around £52,000! So if you’re willing to splash that much on a car, would you really choose a 7-seat family car?! You’ll have to keep watching to see if you should!

Mercedes has added another SUV into its already-crowded high-riding line-up, but does the GLB do enough to justify its existence? And should families consider one over a GLA or GLC?
Tung Nguyen spent three months with his family aboard the GLB250 to find out.
If you actually sit there and tally up the Mercedes-Benz SUV line-up, it counts no less than six models, including the GLA, GLS, EQC, G-Class, GLE and GLC – and that’s not even counting the Coupe versions of the latter two.
Apparently, that isn’t enough, though, as the German brand now has a box-fresh SUV on the market in the form of the GLB.
But what is it and how does it stand out from the rest of the high riders wearing a Mercedes badge?
First of all, the GLB is classed as a medium SUV, despite being based on the same MFA2 architecture as Mercedes’ small cars such as the A-Class, B-Class, CLA and GLA.
Three versions of the GLB are available in Australia, the GLB 200 for $59,900 before on-road costs, the GLB 250 for $73,900 and the AMG-tuned GLB 35 for $88,900.
We’ve snagged the keys to the mid-tier 250 for the next three months, which we’ll be using as our family runabout to see if this is all the car you could ever need.
Powering the 250 is a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, outputting a sizeable 165kW/350Nm to all four wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
With plenty of performance on tap, coming away at the lights and overtaking at freeway speeds are both effortless and enjoyable in the GLB 250, not a trait you’d often associate with a family SUV.
It’s good value, too (even in mid-tier GLB 250 form), as the entry-point to the GLC range is only $3600 cheaper than our test car and has a less potent engine, is only rear-wheel drive and doesn’t afford the flexibility of seven seats.

She takes the new Mercedes-Benz GLB (2020) for a day of city driving with a fun detour through muddy off-road terrain – a flashback for the native Namibian, who learned to drive all-wheel vehicles around her family ranch at a young age.
While its exterior design already hints at the inherent DNA of the classic Mercedes-Benz G-Class, the interior of the new Mercedes-Benz GLB wows with a spacious cabin, room for seven people, a stunning level of comfort and up to 1,805 litres of luggage compartment capacity.
Follow along as Leonie discovers the fully digital cockpit including MBUX with “Hey Mercedes” voice control and augmented reality navigation as well as intelligent safety and assistance systems coming from higher tiers. Oh, and did we mention the built-in spa treatment? Nobody said a car that can go off-road would need to go without the innovative luxuries that make life easier.
