In 1938 Theodore Andrica, the Nationalities Editor of the Cleveland Press and author of the "Around the World in Cleveland" column, paid a visit to Nazi Germany. As part of his journey he shot this astonishing film which shows what appears to be the pastoral German state, but was actually a nation on the brink of war. Unlike many of the films from this era which have been colorized, Andrica actually shot this motion picture on Kodachrome stock. Although the material is silent the footage is astonishing, and includes no less personage than Adolph Hitler in its closing sequence. Rarely seen, this material was once thought to be lost. This print was recently rediscovered and preserved in HD.

Joan Bennett plays a young woman who believes she's killed bigtime crook Sidney Blackmer. She changes her hair color from blonde to brunette and escapes from San Francisco to parts unknown. Police detective Fredric March is hired to track down Bennett, which he does in the company of two assistants, wisecracking Ann Sothern and dimwitted Ralph Bellamy. March's chase takes him all over the world (courtesy of back-projected shots of Tay Garnett's recent worldwide vacation); when he catches up with Bennett, he falls in love with her. Still, when they reach Frisco again, March turns Bennett in to the authorities, convincing Bellamy and Sothern that their boss is a no-good rat. But it's actually a clever ploy by March to bring the real murderer out in the open. Trade Winds was produced by Joan Bennett's future husband Walter Wanger, who noted the popularity of Bennett's new brunette status and advised her to stay that way...which she did. Über 70 Jahre sind vergangen seit den Novemberpogromen 1938. Sie sind eine der zentralen Wegmarken des Völkermords. Waren die Juden in Deutschland seit der Machtübernahme bereits systematisch ausgegrenzt und ausgeplündert worden, so zeigte sich in der sogenannten "Kristallnacht" offen das mörderische Gesicht der Hitlerdiktatur. Am 9. und 10.November 1938 brannten in ganz Deutschland rund 400 Synagogen, SA-Männer verwüsteten 7.000 jüdische Geschäfte. Über neunzig Menschen wurden vom Mob ermordet, etwa 600 begingen Selbstmord.
Mehr als 26.000 Männer wurden - angeblich zu ihrem eigenen Schutz - in Konzentrationslager verschleppt und dort misshandelt. Spontane Aktionen aufgebrachter Bürger seien es gewesen, behaupteten die Nazis, als sich ein Proteststurm im Ausland erhob, tatsächlich war es der Höhepunkt einer staatlich gelenkten Welle antisemitischer Gewalt in Deutschland.
Autor und Regisseur Michael Kloft hat für seine NDR-Dokumentation kaum bekanntes Material und Fotos gefunden und er hat Zeitzeugen befragt, die heute noch die damaligen schrecklichen Ereignisse vor Augen haben. Da ist zum Beispiel Josef Ofer. Er wurde als Josef Oppenheimer in Kitzingen am Main geboren und erlebte dort die dramatischen Ereignisse. Sein Vater war Torahschreiber, die Familie waren orthodoxe Juden, die sich als Deutsche fühlten. Am Morgen des 10. Novembers wurde die Synagoge angezündet, danach versuchten aufgebrachte Bürger das Haus der Oppenheimers zu stürmen. Die Familie verbarrikadierte sich in der Mansarde und fürchtete um ihr Leben. Josef flüchtete bald darauf nach Frankreich und überlebte im Versteck. Seine Eltern und seine Schwester wurden in Belzec ermordet. 1946 emigrierte er nach Palästina und ist nie wieder nach Deutschland zurückgekehrt.
Oder Hannah Biberstein, sie wurde als Hannah Hahn in Essen geboren. Ihr Vater war Rabbiner an der großen Synagoge von Essen. In der Nacht vom 9. auf den 10. November steckten SA- und SS-Leute die Synagoge in Brand und stürmten die Rabbinerwohnung. Hannah hörte, wie ihr Vater verspottet wurde, und floh mit ihrer Schwester aus der brennenden Wohnung. Die Familie ging 1939 in die USA.
Und Hans-Jochen Vogel, der spätere SPD-Spitzenpolitiker, erlebte die Ereignisse als zwölfjähriger Gymnasiast in Giessen. Als HJ-Mitglied war er mit antisemitischen Parolen indoktriniert worden. Während der Schulpause sah er am Vormittag des 10. November die brennende Synagoge.

Jaké by to bylo a jak by to asi dopadlo, kdybychom se bránili? Scénář vychází z existujících vojenskohistorických studií na toto téma a opírá se o odborníky, především vojenské historiky. Jedná se o vizi, avšak dokumentárně erudovanou a respektující realitu. Prostřednictvím rekonstrukce nikdy neuskutečněných rozhovorů, rozhodnutí i situací a s využitím virtuálních realizací bojových scén se pouštíme na led spekulativní historie, led možná tenký, protože v historii kondicionál neplatí - ale co kdyby?

Adolf Hitler (German: [ˈadɔlf ˈhɪtlɐ] (
listen); 20 April 1889 – 30 April 1945) was an Austrian-born German politician and the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP), commonly referred to as the Nazi Party). He was chancellor of Germany from 1933 to 1945 and dictator of Nazi Germany (as Führer und Reichskanzler) from 1934 to 1945. Hitler is commonly associated with the rise of fascism in Europe, World War II, and the Holocaust.
A decorated veteran of World War I, Hitler joined the German Workers' Party, precursor of the Nazi Party, in 1919, and became leader of the NSDAP in 1921. In 1923, he attempted a coup d'état, known as the Beer Hall Putsch, in Munich. The failed coup resulted in Hitler's imprisonment, during which time he wrote his memoir, Mein Kampf (My Struggle). After his release in 1924, Hitler gained popular support by attacking the Treaty of Versailles and promoting Pan-Germanism, antisemitism, and anticommunism with charismatic oratory and Nazi propaganda. After his appointment as chancellor in 1933, he transformed the Weimar Republic into the Third Reich, a single-party dictatorship based on the totalitarian and autocratic ideology of Nazism. His aim was to establish a New Order of absolute Nazi German hegemony in continental Europe.

Über 70 Jahre sind vergangen seit den Novemberpogromen 1938. Sie sind eine der zentralen Wegmarken des Völkermords. Waren die Juden in Deutschland seit der Machtübernahme bereits systematisch ausgegrenzt und ausgeplündert worden, so zeigte sich in der sogenannten "Kristallnacht" offen das mörderische Gesicht der Hitlerdiktatur. Am 9. und 10.November 1938 brannten in ganz Deutschland rund 400 Synagogen, SA-Männer verwüsteten 7.000 jüdische Geschäfte. Über neunzig Menschen wurden vom Mob ermordet, etwa 600 begingen Selbstmord. Mehr als 26.000 Männer wurden - angeblich zu ihrem eigenen Schutz - in Konzentrationslager verschleppt und dort misshandelt. Spontane Aktionen aufgebrachter Bürger seien es gewesen, behaupteten die Nazis, als sich ein Proteststurm im Ausland erhob, tatsächlich war es der Höhepunkt einer staatlich gelenkten Welle antisemitischer Gewalt in Deutschland. Autor und Regisseur Michael Kloft hat für seine NDR-Dokumentation kaum bekanntes Material und Fotos gefunden und er hat Zeitzeugen befragt, die heute noch die damaligen schrecklichen Ereignisse vor Augen haben. Da ist zum Beispiel Josef Ofer. Er wurde als Josef Oppenheimer in Kitzingen am Main geboren und erlebte dort die dramatischen Ereignisse. Sein Vater war Torahschreiber, die Familie waren orthodoxe Juden, die sich als Deutsche fühlten. Am Morgen des 10. Novembers wurde die Synagoge angezündet, danach versuchten aufgebrachte Bürger das Haus der Oppenheimers zu stürmen. Die Familie verbarrikadierte sich in der Mansarde und fürchtete um ihr Leben. Josef flüchtete bald darauf nach Frankreich und überlebte im Versteck. Seine Eltern und seine Schwester wurden in Belzec ermordet. 1946 emigrierte er nach Palästina und ist nie wieder nach Deutschland zurückgekehrt. Oder Hannah Biberstein, sie wurde als Hannah Hahn in Essen geboren. Ihr Vater war Rabbiner an der großen Synagoge von Essen. In der Nacht vom 9. auf den 10. November steckten SA- und SS-Leute die Synagoge in Brand und stürmten die Rabbinerwohnung. Hannah hörte, wie ihr Vater verspottet wurde, und floh mit ihrer Schwester aus der brennenden Wohnung. Die Familie ging 1939 in die USA. Und Hans-Jochen Vogel, der spätere SPD-Spitzenpolitiker, erlebte die Ereignisse als zwölfjähriger Gymnasiast in Giessen. Als HJ-Mitglied war er mit antisemitischen Parolen indoktriniert worden. Während der Schulpause sah er am Vormittag des 10. November die brennende Synagoge. -

Dokumentární fikce, která nabízí odpověď na věčnou otázku z osudového podzimu 1938. Jak bychom dopadli, kdybychom tehdy nekapitulovali a postavili se na odpor? Dokumentární vize se pokouší hledat odpovědi na věčnou, bolestivou a stále se opakující "osmičkovou" otázku: Měli jsme se v roce 1938 bránit útoku nacistického Německa? Jaké by to bylo a jak by to asi dopadlo, kdybychom se bránili? Scénář vychází z existujících vojenskohistorických studií na toto téma a opírá se o odborníky, především vojenské historiky. Jedná se o vizi, avšak dokumentárně erudovanou a respektující realitu. Prostřednictvím rekonstrukce nikdy neuskutečněných rozhovorů, rozhodnutí i situací a s využitím virtuálních realizací bojových scén se pouštíme na led spekulativní historie, led možná tenký, protože v historii kondicionál neplatí - ale co kdyby?

ČR 2013 Příběh o setkání dvou osobností a dvou naprosto odlišných myšlenkových světů. Chladný kalkulátor a horkokrevný bijec. Edvard Beneš a Emanuel Moravec. Diplomat a legionář. Zatímco Beneš mezinárodní diktát akceptuje, většina představitelů československé armády volá po krvi. Jako svého mluvčího vyberou plukovníka Moravce, který patří k nejradikálnějším z nich. In 1938 Theodore Andrica, the Nationalities Editor of the Cleveland Press and author of the "Around the World in Cleveland" column, paid a visit to Nazi Germany. As part of his journey he shot this astonishing film which shows what appears to be the pastoral German state, but was actually a nation on the brink of war. Unlike many of the films from this era which have been colorized, Andrica actually shot this motion picture on Kodachrome stock. Although the material is silent the footage is astonishing, and includes no less personage than Adolph Hitler in its closing sequence. Rarely seen, this material was once thought to be lost. Über 70 Jahre sind vergangen seit den Novemberpogromen 1938. Sie sind eine der zentralen Wegmarken des Völkermords. Waren die Juden in Deutschland seit der Machtübernahme bereits systematisch ausgegrenzt und ausgeplündert worden, so zeigte sich in der sogenannten "Kristallnacht" offen das mörderische Gesicht der Hitlerdiktatur. Am 9. und 10.November 1938 brannten in ganz Deutschland rund 400 Synagogen, SA-Männer verwüsteten 7.000 jüdische Geschäfte. Über neunzig Menschen wurden vom Mob ermordet, etwa 600 begingen Selbstmord.
Mehr als 26.000 Männer wurden - angeblich zu ihrem eigenen Schutz - in Konzentrationslager verschleppt und dort misshandelt. Spontane Aktionen aufgebrachter Bürger seien es gewesen, behaupteten die Nazis, als sich ein Proteststurm im Ausland erhob, tatsächlich war es der Höhepunkt einer staatlich gelenkten Welle antisemitischer Gewalt in Deutschland.
Autor und Regisseur Michael Kloft hat für seine NDR-Dokumentation kaum bekanntes Material und Fotos gefunden und er hat Zeitzeugen befragt, die heute noch die damaligen schrecklichen Ereignisse vor Augen haben. Da ist zum Beispiel Josef Ofer. Er wurde als Josef Oppenheimer in Kitzingen am Main geboren und erlebte dort die dramatischen Ereignisse. Sein Vater war Torahschreiber, die Familie waren orthodoxe Juden, die sich als Deutsche fühlten. Am Morgen des 10. Novembers wurde die Synagoge angezündet, danach versuchten aufgebrachte Bürger das Haus der Oppenheimers zu stürmen. Die Familie verbarrikadierte sich in der Mansarde und fürchtete um ihr Leben. Josef flüchtete bald darauf nach Frankreich und überlebte im Versteck. Seine Eltern und seine Schwester wurden in Belzec ermordet. 1946 emigrierte er nach Palästina und ist nie wieder nach Deutschland zurückgekehrt.

Dokumentární vize se pokouší hledat odpovědi na věčnou, bolestivou a stále se opakující "osmičkovou" otázku: Měli jsme se v roce 1938 bránit útoku nacistického Německa? Jaké by to bylo a jak by to asi dopadlo, kdybychom se bránili? Scénář vychází z existujících vojenskohistorických studií na toto téma a opírá se o odborníky, především vojenské historiky. Jedná se o vizi, avšak dokumentárně erudovanou a respektující realitu. Prostřednictvím rekonstrukce nikdy neuskutečněných rozhovorů, rozhodnutí i situací a s využitím virtuálních realizací bojových scén se pouštíme na led spekulativní historie, led možná tenký, protože v historii kondicionál neplatí - ale co kdyby?

Burton and his henchman are running a protection racket. The Ranger sets a complex trap to capture Jim Burton, using Tonto for bait!
Tonto's horse is called "White Feller," not "Scout." Jim Burton had made himself absolute master of a large district in the South West. All who lived in that territory were forced to pay him tribute or suffer the consequences. His men outlaws and hired gunmen openly punished those who refused to pay. Homes were stripped, buildings were burned, and cattle stolen or poisoned and men who stubbornly defied Burton were murdered. The gang had become so powerful that the law was helpless.

Dokumentární vize se pokouší hledat odpovědi na věčnou, bolestivou a stále se opakující "osmičkovou" otázku: Měli jsme se v roce 1938 bránit útoku nacistického Německa? Jaké by to bylo a jak by to asi dopadlo, kdybychom se bránili? Scénář vychází z existujících vojenskohistorických studií na toto téma a opírá se o odborníky, především vojenské historiky. Jedná se o vizi, avšak dokumentárně erudovanou a respektující realitu. Prostřednictvím rekonstrukce nikdy neuskutečněných rozhovorů, rozhodnutí i situací a s využitím virtuálních realizací bojových scén se pouštíme na led spekulativní historie, led možná tenký, protože v historii kondicionál neplatí - ale co kdyby? -

Unikátní dokument z roku 1968 - se svědectvím Jana Masaryka a Prokopa Drtiny. V roce 1968 slovenský režisér Karol Wild v Krátkém filmu Praha realizoval cenný dokument, který krátce poté normalizační "Prověrková komise" poslala na dvacet let do trezoru. Střihový film s dotáčkami je syntézou širokých politických a společenských souvislostí takzané Mnichovské dohody. Připomněl také tehdy poměrně málo známá fakta (například zabrání Západní Ukrajiny a Besarábie sovětskými vojsky). Výpovědi J. Masaryka, P. Drtiny a dalších pozoruhodných osobností.
