Safdar Tawakoli (Persian: صفدر توکلی) (born 1942) is a musician from Afghanistan who focuses on afghan folkloric music Hazaragi music. He plays regional traditional music on the dambura.
Safdar Tawakoli was born in 1942 in the Yakawlang (Daizangi) district of Bamiyan to a family of moderate means. His interest in music was nurtured during his youth, but he had to overcome the conservative tradition and religious restrictions of his local culture. Despite these, he pursued his field of interest and became a devoted artist. He always admired and in some cases envied the popularity of national singers. He mastered the "dambura", a regional long necked stringed instrument popular among the Hazaras of central Afghanistan.
In pursuit of a career in music, he left Bamiyan to run a music store in Kabul that sold cassettes. It was his hard work and talent that led him to the studios of Radio Kabul and Afghanistan's National Television, where he did many shows and sung hundreds of songs. Safdar Tawakuli became a household name in regions and the number of his listeners increased. He became an iconic singer and was awarded with several awards and honorary medals. He has represented Afghan Music in numerous international shows.

Plot: Naive, milk-drinker, childlike Chhote Nawab, born on February 29th, lives a wealthy lifestyle in the Bombay-based Nawab family consisting of his widowed dad; sister, Mehnuma and her husband, Safdar. His father has borrowed money from Bhagwanti Lala through Safdar's prompting and is heavily in debt. When Bhagwanti gets a Court Order, the Nawab has a stroke and passes away, leaving Chhote at the hands of a merciless Safdar who beats, abuses, and drives him out. Unable to find work with the mind of a 5-year old, he is taken in by his dad's friend, Nawab Nazir Hussain from Calcutta, who had arranged his marriage with his daughter, Roshan, much to the chagrin of his wife. Upon arrival in Calcutta, Chhote is looked after by Nazir and Roshan, who educate him, and in about a year Chhote matures considerably, behaves according to his age, and romances Roshan. Then things change dramatically when Chhote starts making money through his race-horse, Roshni, substitutes milk with alcohol, starts getting independent, ill-tempered and bad mannered, and replaces Roshan with a cabaret dancer, Sophie!!

SABA F. SAFDAR is an Iranian-born Canadian-educated Associate Professor in the Psychology Department at the University of Guelph in Ontario. She moved to Canada in the 1980s after the Islamic revolution in Iran. The Safdar-Jang Mausoleum was built in the final years of Mogul rule and is an architectural monument of this golden era. It contains each design element of this epoch, with a terrace-like substructure, painted stucco and a dome. No other city in this huge and diverse country demonstrates the dramatic history of India with all the intensity of colour as Delhi.
