Quotes:
[first lines]::John Hanson: [John Hanson sets several golf balls on fire] Life is not easy to figure out when you're busy living it. Especially if you have a really meaningless life like I do. [He lines up his shot with his golf club and then launches the flaming golf balls into a nearby building] You forget who you are and what you were doing and what the point of anything was. Things just happen like a train runs into your house or everyone you love suddenly explodes. Or you're in the backwoods of Wisconsin looking for half a million dollars.
John Hanson: Why are you telling me this story?::Karl: Because I got laid and then I got high. And that itself constitutes a good narrative. But then I got bored and so I just started going through her stuff.
John Hanson: Are you ever not high?::Karl: The first thirty minutes of every morning. And I don't really get high anymore. I've been doing this since I was 13.::John Hanson: Isn't it starting to catch up with you?::Karl: I'm frequently unhappy and constantly think about suicide. [pause] But I don't see a connection. Drugs are a catalyst for life.
Officer Frank: Don't shit me, kid. I ain't in your colon and I ain't dropping into any porcelain bowl.::John Hanson: I really think I'm older than you.::Officer Frank: May be, son, but I'm wearing a hand-cannon that's almost as big as my Johnson. And I never did like back talk.::John Hanson: Officer, we're not looking for trouble. Just a little beer by the lake. A couple of VHS tapes.::Officer Frank: I respect that. But don't drink and boat. You can call me Frank. I'll be frank to you if you'll be frank to me.
Officer Frank: It's not like the old days, when we used to let our daughters swim naked with the Indians.
Karl: This is John Hanson. And I'm Karl, attorney at law. We're land surveyors from the federal government.::John Hanson: You just said you were an attorney at law.
John Hanson: Thanks, Alice. I suppose you're also going to tell me that there's no buried treasure.::Alice: There has to be. Otherwise, what has everyone been failing to find for the last ten years?::John Hanson: That would make a really good argument for the existence of God.
Karl: How'd you get a name like Tinker?::Tinker: I took it from a book. I thought it sounded pretty.::John Hanson: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy?::Tinker: I don't remember; I didn't read the book.::John Hanson: A tinker is a tinsmith.::Tinker: What?::John Hanson: Someone who mends household goods made out of tin.::Tinker: Well I don't do that.::Karl: Hanson is a genius. He'll tell you all about his graphic novel.::John Hanson: Pictorial epic.::Karl: [interrupting] But first I think we should smoke this Adderall rock and go skinny dipping.::Alice: Start without me.
John Hanson: They say that when you fall in love, you feel like you lose a part of yourself. But you also feel that way when someone shatters your life's work with one nicely-worded analysis.
Officer Frank: [Officer Frank catches John and Alice digging on the golf course] Well well well. If it isn't two little Indians. Vandalizing government property. You want to tell me what you're doing? [pause] Spit it out, boy. I didn't ask you how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.::John Hanson: I'm burying my father's ashes.::Officer Frank: You're what?::John Hanson: My father wanted his ashes buried on this golf course. I found the urn in his cabin. And we're burying them.::Officer Frank: Where are they? The ashes?::John Hanson: I already buried them.::Officer Frank: Where's the urn?::John Hanson: I threw it over there.::Officer Frank: I can smell your shit, son. And I don't just mean that I'd like to. [Taking out his handcuffs] You've both bought yourselves a ticket to Frank's Hotel.

As infrastructure and government crumble, an illness spreads, taking civilization as we know it to the brink. Faced with this collapse, John is forced to reflect on his inability to confront and commit to life's challenges, and on whether now, in this perilous new world, he can change to protect the ones he loves.

Plot: The action in the film switches between the present day, the aftermath of a terrorist action in London, and the events leading to this act. In the present day scenes, a terrorist suspect, Aris Gildemeister, is being interrogated by Detective Laska about a terrorist action; the action being the kidnapping of John Hanson, a senior executive of an oil company, and the subsequent suicide of the hostage taker, Hector Ruiz. Hector, a young Spanish journalist, is wandering aimlessly through his life, when he meets Cassas, the editor of an international political publication based in London. Cassas is sympathetic to the disaffected Hector and offers him an assignment as a foreign correspondent. On a trip to Cairo, Hector falls in love with a young nurse, Amina, introduced to him by Cassas. Six months later, Hector's world has changed as he learns of Amina's suicide attack against an extreme-right wing Israeli party leader's convoy. Back in London, Hector in a suspecting frame of mind falls into the hands of Cassas' casual terrorist network. Hector joins the experiment and helps kidnap John Hanson. Hector has second thoughts and takes John Hanson to a sanctuary. Hector then kidnaps Cassas and takes him to the same place. Just before his suicide, Hector sends a text message to his friend, Aris, informing him of the location of the entrapped Cassas and Hanson As these actions take place in front of our eyes, the interrogation continues. Detective Laska uncovers evidence that casts doubt on the claimed innocence of Aris. Aris comes to the realization that the detective's understanding of the extreme danger the precedence has created leaves him fearful for his own life. Aris, now in the solitariness of his dark cell, promises to himself that he will continue to fight for humanity, confronted by the insoluble mystery that some will destroy themselves, while others will destroy one another.

In memory of john

Firstly with his radio series and guest appearances, then with his musical shows, the first one I saw him in was the musical "when you're young " (also known as smilin' through) which he wrote the music and words for which I thoroughly enjoyed and after that I saw him in all the other musicals he toured the country with. Then there was his guest appearances on TV and his own series on a Sunday evening "songs for Sunday" which lasted 16 weeks. I also saw him in many concerts including the series in

Last but not least, his L.Ps which I still listen to regularly. Sadly he died in

Black" Man, A

Who is this first president of the

John Hanson
This man was the
First President of the United States! 1781-1782
A.D.???
George Washington was really the 8th President of the United States! George Washington was not the first President of the United States though
Washington was the actual first president under the current
Constitution of the United States of
America. Thus Washington true title is 8th President of the United States of America 1st Congressional
President. In fact, the first President of the United States was one John Hanson.
Don't go checking the encyclopedia for this guy's name - he is one of those great men that are lost to history. If you're extremely lucky, you may actually find a brief mention of his name.
The new country of the United States of America was actually formed on March 1, 1781 with the adoption of
The Articles of Confederation. This document was actually proposed on June 11,
1776, but not agreed upon by
Congress until
November 15, 1777.
Maryland refused to
sign this document until
Virginia and
New York ceded their western lands (Maryland was afraid that these states would gain too much power in the new government from such large amounts of land).
Once the signing took place in 1781, a President was needed to run the country. John Hanson was chosen unanimously by Congress (which included George Washington). In fact, all the other potential candidates refused to run against him, as he was a major player in the revolution and an extremely influential member of Congress. As the first President,
Hanson no one had ever been President and the role was poorly defined. His actions in office would set precedent for all future Presidents. He took office just as the
Revolutionary War ended, immediately, the troops demanded to be paid. As would be expected after any long war, there were no funds to meet the salaries. As a result, the soldiers threatened to overthrow the new government and put Washington as a monarch. All the members of Congress ran, leaving Hanson as the only one left . He managed to calm the troops down and hold the country together. If he had failed, the government would have fallen immediately. In fact, Hanson sent 800 pounds of sterling silver by his brother
Samuel Hanson to George Washington to provide the troops with shoes. Hanson, as President, ordered all foreign troops off
American soil, as well as the removal of all foreign flags. This was quite the feat, considering that so many
European countries had a stake in the
United States since
Columbus. HANSON ESTABLISHED THE
GREAT SEAL OF THE
UNITED STATES, WHICH ALL PRESIDENTS HAVE SINCE BEEN REQUIRED TO
USE ON ALL OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS. This seal is still used to this day for all official documents of the
United States of America. President Hanson also established the first
Treasury Department, the first
Secretary of War, and the first
Foreign Affairs Department. Lastly, he declared that the fourth Thursday of every November was to be
Thanksgiving Day, which is still true today. The Articles of Confederation only allowed a President to serve a one year term , so Hanson actually accomplished quite a bit in such little time. Six other presidents were elected after him -
Elias Boudinot (1783),
Thomas Mifflin (1784),
Richard Henry Lee (1785),
Nathan Gorman (1786),
Arthur St. Clair (1787), and
Cyrus Griffin (1788) - all prior to Washington taking office. Why don't we ever hear about the first seven
Presidents of the United States? The Articles of Confederation didn't work well. The individual states there was nothing that could be agreed upon. A new doctrine needed to be written - we know as the
Constitution,- thus explaining why the Constitution begins with "in order to form a more perfect union". George Washington was definitely not the very first President of the United States. He was the first President of the United States under the Constitution we follow today. And the first seven Presidents are forgotten in history and how great and important they may have been to the birth of our nation.
The Great Seal of the United States is used to authenticate certain documents issued by the United States of America's federal government. The phrase is used both for the physical seal itself (which is kept by the
United States Secretary of State), and more generally for the design impressed upon it. The Great Seal was first used publicly in 1782.
The
Seal of the President of the United States established in
1945, (then replaced the great seal for the presidents) is directly based on the
Great Seal, and its elements are used in numerous government agency and state seals.

People across the internet are saying
Obama was not the first black president of the
United States.
Instead, it was a man named
John Hanson, who was apparently president before
George Washington. Are these claims true though?

In memory of john
Hanson who has given me great pleasure with his singing during the last 46 years. I also saw him in many concerts including the series in
Bournemouth on a Sunday evening, for summer season for 7 years.
Last but not least, his L.Ps which I still listen to regularly. Sadly he died in
December 1998, but I hope his singing will go on for eternity, and he will be remembered with all the 'great singers of the past.
statistics from his autobiography:
2 years in the west end
26 major tours, eight summer seasons,
ten pantomimes and a countless number of concerts.
Made over twelve hundred broadcasts,
other three hundreds television appearances
and recorded twenty-one long playing records

0002. Lost To History: John Hanson 1st President of US
We will end this
Black History Month with the first
Black President John Hanson, oh the discrepancy - Could this be true? Why is it
Hanson cannot be found as the first black president in the encyclopedia?
Today it is time to read and research everything and not to take everything as face value. Many white people want us to believe this and many black people want us to believe that! We will talk about controversial issues whenever God allows via the
Holy Spirit.
Thanks for watching.
