Samantha J

Samantha Gonsalves (born 10 October 1996), better known by her stage name Samantha J, is a Jamaican model and singer-songwriter signed to Columbia Records. She is known for her 2013 hit, "Tight Skirt", which has topped international charts. She released an international single in 2015 called "League of My Own" featuring Dej Loaf.

Samantha Gonsalves was born in Kingston, Jamaica. She resides in Saint Ann Parish and attends the Heinz Simonitsch School in Saint James Parish. She was discovered by the Si Mi Yah Agency, while attending a model & talent casting in Ocho Rios.

Samantha

Samantha is a feminine given name. It has been recorded in England in 1633 in Newton-Regis, Warwickshire, England. It was also recorded in the 18th century in New England, but its etymology is unknown. Speculation (without evidence) has suggested an origin from the masculine given name Samuel and anthos, the Greek word for "flower". A variant of this speculation is that it may have been a feminine form of Samuel with the addition of the already existing feminine name Anthea.

It remained a rare name until the publication, beginning in 1873, of a series of ten books by Marietta Holley featuring the adventures of a lady called Samantha, wife of Josiah Allen. This led to the rise in its popularity and its increasing ranking among the top 1,000 names for girls in the United States from 1880, the earliest year for which records are available, to 1902.

It was out of fashion in the United States for majority of the first half of the 20th century, but reappeared among the top 1,000 names for girls in 1958, when it ranked in 998th position, and in 1959, when it ranked in 993rd place. It fell off the top 1,000 list once again until 1964, when it reappeared in 472nd place, and leapt another 293 places to 179th place in the ratings in 1965. The name's popularity coincided with the debut in 1964 of the television show Bewitched, which featured as the lead character a young witch named Samantha Stephens. The name has remained consistently popular in the United States since the 1960s. It ranked among the top 200 names for girls since 1965 and among the top 100 names for girls since 1976. It was among the 10 most popular names for girls born in the United States between 1988 and 2006. It ranked as the 15th most popular name for American girls born in 2009.

"Baby Love" is a 1964 song recorded by American music group the Supremes for the Motown label.

Written and produced by Motown's main production team Holland–Dozier–Holland (H–D–H), the song topped the Billboard pop singles chart in the United States from October 25, 1964 through November 21, 1964, and in the United Kingdom pop singles chart concurrently. Considered one of the most popular songs of the late 20th century, "Baby Love" was ranked #324 on the Rolling Stone list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

Overview

At the insistence of Berry Gordy hoping for a follow-up chart-topper, H–D–H produced "Baby Love" was produced to sound elementarily like "Where Did Our Love Go;" elements such as Diana Ross's cooing lead vocal and oohing, Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson's "baby-baby" backup, the Funk Brothers' instrumental track, and teenager Mike Valvano's footstomping were reincorporated into the single. Further, both Ballard and Wilson had brief solo ad-libs towards the end of the song on the released version (after this release Ross would be the only member to have any solos on the 1960s singles). The group made their debut television performance in the United Kingdom on the popular BBC program Top of the Pops on Thursday, October 15, 1964.

Marcus & Martinus

Marcus Gunnarsen and Martinus Gunnarsen (born in Elverum, Norway on 21 February 2002), better known as Marcus & Martinus are two identical twin brothers. In 2012 they won the eleventh season of Melodi Grand Prix Junior. They released their debut studio album Hei in February 2015.

2012: Melodi Grand Prix Junior

In 2012 Marcus & Martinus were contestants on the eleventh season of Melodi Grand Prix Junior. It was held at the Oslo Spektrum in Oslo, Norway and broadcast live Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK). It was hosted by Margrethe Røed and Tooji. They won the contest with the song "To dråper vann" (English: "Two Drops of Water"). The song peaked to number 8 on the Norwegian Singles Chart.

2015–present: Hei

On 23 February 2015 they released their debut studio album Hei (English: Hi). The album peaked at number 1 on the Norwegian Albums Chart in week 46 of 2015 (15 November 2015) after having charted for 35 weeks, the last 20 not leaving the top ten. The album includes the single "Plystre på deg" (English: "Whistle at You"). On 24 July 2015 they released the single "Elektrisk" (English: "Electric"), featuring vocals from Katastrofe. The song peaked to number 3 on the Norwegian Singles Chart. On 25 September 2015 they released the single "Ei som deg" (English: "One Like You") with Innertier. The song peaked to number 15 on the Norwegian Singles Chart.
